Abstract

Impregnation of clay is one of method to increase the adsorption capacity. Synthesisand characterization of clay impregnated 3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (TRZSH) has beencarried out. Functional groups of clay was characterized by infrared spectrophotometry whileBET test was performed to determine its specific surface area and porosity. Results showedthat clay impregnated TRZSH comprises silanol (Si-OH), siloksan (Si-O-Si), C-N, C=N, andSH. Spesific surface area of clay impregnated TRZSH of 184.04 m2/g. Such it has porosityvolume and radius of porosity of 123.902 x 10-3 cm/g and 134.672 A, respectively.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan hasil belajar IPA Terpadu melalui model pembelajaran kontekstual pada siswa kelas VII.E SMP Negeri 33 Kota Makassar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas model siklus, fokus penelitian adalah pembelajaran kontekstual dan hasil belajar. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII.E sebanyak 31 orang. Pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi, tes dan dokumentasi, sedangkan data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis deskriptif. Hasil penelitian adalah hasil belajar IPA Terpadu siswa meningkat melalui model pembelajaran kontekstual di kelas VII.E SMP Negeri 33 Kota Makassar. Siklus pertama, hasil belajar IPA Terpadu pada kategori cukup tetapi belum mencapai ketuntasan belajar yang diharapkan, kemudian siklus kedua meningkat menjadi kategori baik sekali dan telah mencapai ketuntasan belajar yang diharapkan. Peningkatan hasil belajar IPA Terpadu melalui model pembelajaran kontekstual didukung oleh peningkatan aktivitas mengajar guru dalam menerapkan langkah-langkah model pembelajaran kontekstual, dan aktivitas belajar siswa mengikuti pelajaran IPA Terpadu dari awal hingga akhir pembelajaran.Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Kontekstual IPA Terpadu , Aktivitas Belajar, Hasil Belajar.

Abstract

Thermodynamics study of Cd(II), Ni(II), and Mg(II) adsorption on silica gel immobilized with 3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (SG-SH) has been carried out. Three thermodynamic parameters namely adsorption capacity, equilibrium constant and adsorption energy were determined using model of Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Process of adsorption was carried out by mixing metal ion solution in various concentrations (5 - 400 mg/L) with adsorbent in a batch system. The un-adsorbed ions were determined by Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) and the adsorbed ions were differences of ion concentration in solution before and after adsorption process. Parameters of thermodynamics i.e. capacity (a), equilibrium constant (K) and adsorption energy were determined by using the correlation curve of ratio of equilibrium concentration to the amount of adsorbed metal ions versus equilibrium concentration. Results showed that adsorption of metal ions Ni(II), Cd(II) and Mg(II) on adsorbent of silica gel immobilized with mercapto groups tend to follow Type I (monolayer) of Brunauer's classification. Evaluation of thermodynamic adsorption showed that the order of adsorption capacity was Ni(II) < Cd(II) < Mg(II) with relatively low energy adsorption, in a range  of 12 - 18 kJ/mole.

Abstract

Using methyl orange (MO) in dye industries can cause the accumulation of MO waste in aquatic systems, including seawater. A magnetic material-silica-zeolite (MM-SiO2-NZ) composite was investigated in vitro to adsorb methyl orange (MO) dye. MM-SiO2-NZ composite was characterized using FTIR, XRF, and VSM. Adsorption studies with pH, concentration, contact time, and temperature variations were carried out to determine the adsorption capacity. The MM-SiO2-NZ characterization results by FTIR showed the presence of OH groups from Fe-OH, Si-OH, and Al-OH, and there were Fe-O, Si-O, Al-O, Si-O-Si, and Si-O-Fe groups. The results of XRF characterization showed that the metal oxide content of Fe2O3 in magnetic material (MM) was 75.39% and decreased to 52.63% after the MM-SiO2-NZ composite was formed. The characterization using VSM indicated the magnetic properties of MM to be 44.083 emu/g, then decreased to 11.407 emu/g after being composited. The adsorption of MM-SiO2-NZ tends to follow the Langmuir adsorption isotherm with a Langmuir constant (KL) value of 1.332 L/mg. Furthermore, the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics with a constant value (k2) of 3×10-2 g.mg/min. MO dye adsorption by MM-SiO2-NZ took place spontaneously with Gibbs free energy (ΔG), enthalpy (ΔH), and entropy (ΔS) values of -1.109 kJ/mol, -38.687 kJ/mol, and -12.402 kJ/mol, respectively.

Abstract

Water is the most basic need for human life. The increasing need for water shall become a social problem if it is not followed by a deep understanding by the users of water in clean water sources. The plan for taking water from the springs in Samaenre Village, Wolo District, Regency of Kolaka, by industry to meet domestic needs for industrial support facilities has the potential to cause conflict with the surrounding community. Some of the community's concerns include limited access to springs and the reduced allocation of water for the needs of residents. An effort to avoid this potential conflict is to carry out community assistance activities through Community Consultation Meetings (CCM) to increase community understanding, especially regarding the location of collection, the amount of water to be taken, the allocation of water to be taken, and the process of water extraction. The result of this activity is to increase public understanding regarding the use of water by industry and reduce public concerns regarding the impact of the use of springs on the daily conditions of residents. This community assistance enables effective communication between residents, local government, and industry. It is hoped that this service activity can continue, considering that the community has a role in supervising water extraction activities by the industry as regulated by the water resources law.  ---  Air merupakan kebutuhan paling mendasar bagi kehidupan manusia. Kebutuhan air yang terus meningkat menjadi permasalahan sosial jika tidak diikuti pemahaman mendalam oleh para pengguna air di sumber air bersih. Rencana pengambilan air dari mata air Desa Samaenre, Kec. Wolo, Kab. Kolaka, oleh industri guna memenuhi kebutuhan domestik fasilitas penunjang industri berpotensi menimbulkan konflik dengan masyarakat sekitar. Beberapa kekhawatiran masyarakat antara lain terbatasnya akses ke sumber mata air dan juga berkurangnya alokasi air untuk keperluan warga sekitar. Usaha untuk menghindari potensi konflik tersebut adalah melakukan kegiatan pendampingan masyarakat melalui Pertemuan Konsultasi Masyarakat (PKM) dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman warga khususnya terkait lokasi pengambilan, jumlah air yang akan diambil, peruntukan air yang akan diambil dan proses pengambilan air. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat terkait pemanfaatan air oleh industri dan mengurangi kekhawatiran masyarakat terkait dampak dari pemanfaataan mata air terhadap kondisi keseharian warga. Pendampingan masyarakat ini memungkinan komunikasi yang efektif antara warga, pemerintah daerah dan industri. Diharapkan Kegiatan pengabdian ini dapat terus berlangsung, mengingat masyarakat memiliki peran dalam mengawasi kegiatan pengambilan air oleh industi sebagaimana yang diatur oleh undang-undang sumber daya air.

Abstract

The extraction of Fe3O4 from iron sand frequently utilizes a highly concentrated HCl solution, which is hazardous to the environment. The high-energy ball milling method of separating Fe3O4 from iron sand might produce Fe3O4 without acids and maintains its magnetic characteristics with a yield of 81.87%. The FTIR results suggest that the Fe3O4 separation procedure with high-energy ball milling was effective in eliminating the silica pick after activation with 2 M NaOH, which was confirmed by SEM-EDS data indicating there was no silica on the material's surface. Fe3O4 was separated, allowing use as an adsorbent to treat textile industry waste such as Remazol Turquoise Blue G-133 and Remazol Red RB-133. The adsorption of Fe3O4 on these two dyes occurred at pH 5, and as adsorbate concentration, contact time, and adsorption temperature of Fe3O4 were raised, the adsorption capacity increased. Remazol Turquoise Blue G-133 and Remazol Red RB-133 have qmax values of 16.75 and 1.43 mg/g, respectively. The isothermal adsorption of Fe3O4 for the two dyes quite follows the Freundlich isothermal with KF values of 1.87 and 0.42 L/g and n values of 2.17 and 1.22, respectively, results suggest that the adsorption process occurs physically and forms a multilayer adsorption surface. These results are supported by data obtained from the adsorption kinetics, which shows that it follows the first-order adsorption kinetics. The dyes thermodynamics also showed positive results for ΔHo and ΔGo, indicating that the process of adsorption was endothermic and not spontaneous, but to the degree of disorder (ΔSo), Remazol Turquoise Blue G-133 outperformed Remazol Red RB-133.

Abstract

In this work, we investigated the effects of the heavy metal initial concentration and the pH on the sorption of heavy metal ions onto carbon nanofibers using the liquid phase adsorption technique under ultrasonic energy irradiation. These data were then used to study thermodynamic aspects such as sorption capacity and energy and kinetic parameters such as kinetic model, reaction order, and rate constant of heavy metal sorption on carbon nanofibers. We found that the increase of the heavy metal (nickel) initial concentration was proportional to the amount of heavy metal adsorbed onto carbon nanofibers. The highest uptake of the heavy metal ions' amount onto carbon nanofibers in equilibrium (qe) was 244.00 mg.g-1, achieved at the pH of 8. Langmuir and Freundlich's isotherms were used to find the best-fitted isotherms model. The Langmuir isotherm best fits the sorption equilibrium of the heavy metal ions on Carbon nanofibers. Bothipseudo-first and pseudo-second orders studied the sorption and kinetic parameters of heavy metals on carbon nanofibers. The sorption kinetics model was fitted to the pseudo second-order. Based on the value of Gibbs free energy, the metal ions' sorption onto carbon nanofibers occurs spontaneously.

Abstract

Desa Mekar adalah salah satu desa penyangga di sekitar Pulau Bokori yang menjadi destinasi wisata bahari Kota Kendari. Desa ini berpotensi menjadi desa wisata dan budaya karena letaknya yang strategis dan memiliki keunikan khas etnis bajo. Sebagai desa transit menuju kawasan wisata Pulau Bokori, maka dukungan fasilitas umum sangat dibutuhkan. Salah satu permasalahan terkait dengan kebutuhan fasilitas umum ini adalah belum tersedianya akses air bersih untuk semua warga desa. Pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dimulai dari tahapan sosialisasi dan koordinasi program, survei kondisi sarana air bersih eksisting, penghijauan pada sumber mata air dan instalasi sarana air bersih berupa pipa dan tandon air. Progam ini menyediakan saluran pipa air bersih sepanjang 800 meter pipa yang menghubungkan sumber mata air utama dari Gunung Boe Bolo ke dusun 3 Desa Mekar. Dua titik bak air besih telah disediakan dan sudah dimanfaatkan oleh warga di dua desa. Selain itu, sebanyak kurang lebih 200 pohon telah ditanam di sekitar mata air Boe Bolo dengan melibatkan warga di dua desa yakni Desa Mekar dan Desa Bajo Indah.

Abstract

Kelompok Usaha Bersama (KUB) Kerajinan Tangan yang ada di Desa Mekar Kecamatan Soropia Kabupaten Konawe merupakan salah satu usaha kelompok masyarakat yang dibentuk untuk mendukung destinasi tujuan wisata Pulau Bokori. Desa ini terletak di pesisir Konawe, berhadapan langsung dengan Pulau Bokori, merupakan salah satu desa penyangga tujuan wisata Kendari dan sekitarnya. Di desa ini telah terbentuk 2 KUB kerajinan tangan yang dinisiasi melalui program desa dan CSR PT. Sarana Multi Infrastruktur. Permasalahan yang ada adalah sejak pembentukannya, KUB ini belum bekerja secara optimal karena masih minim kreatifitas produk dan kendala pada aspek pemasaran. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang diselenggarakan oleh Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (LPPM) Universitas Halu Oleo yang terintegrasi dengan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) ini diarahkan untuk memberikan penguatan pada aspek fasilitasi penyediaan bahan dan peralatan dasar yang dibutuhkan oleh KUB kerajinan tangan, penguatan inovasi produk dan pendampingan akses pemasaran secara online. Pada pelaksaannya, KUB ini telah mampu memproduksi berbagai varian produk kerajinan tangan yakni gantungan kunci, cermin, gelang, lampu hias, tempat tisu dengan memanfaatkan jenis-jenis limbah kerang dan berbagai produk yang menggunakan kain antara lain taplak meja, alas penutup kulkas, alas penutup galon, dan tirai. Anggota KUB juga telah dibekali dengan metode pemasaran dengan memanfaatkan media sosial.

Abstract

Introduction: Women are still underrepresented in public sector leadership, despite their significant numbers in the workforce. Previous research suggests that women leaders bring innovation, effective communication, and transformational leadership, which can improve financial performance. However, research results are still inconsistent. This study examines the impact of female leadership and demographic factors such as age, education, and tenure,on the financial performance of local governments in Indonesia. Using Upper Echelons Theory as a framework, this study provides empirical evidence to understand the role of gender in public sector financial performance. Methods: This research is a quantitative study using multiple linear regression to examine the impact of gender, age, tenure, and education level of regional leaders on local government financial performance. The analysis was conducted using STATA software to obtain accurate and efficient results. The study focuses on regional governments in Java Island, with purposive sampling based on leadership tenure (2020–2022) and availability of audited LKPD by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI). Results: Regression results show that education level positively affects profit margin (coef. = 0.0136; p = 0.008), while age is significantly associated with better debt management (NDTR; coef. = 0.0062; p = 0.046). Longer tenure improves debt-to-asset ratio, rate coverage, and asset turnover, but reduces tax revenue share, indicating shifts in fiscal strategy. Gender has no significant impact, suggesting that structural and institutional factors outweigh demographic characteristics in influencing financial performance. Conclusion and suggestion: This research examines how the characteristics of regional leaders influence the financial performance of local governments. in Java Island during 2020–2022. The results indicate that gender does not significantly affect financial performance. However, regional leaders' age, tenure, and education level significantly influence various aspects of financial management, such as debt management, asset utilization, and profit margins. These findings support Upper Echelons Theory, which emphasizes the role of demographic characteristics in leadership effectiveness. This study has limitations, including its focus exclusively on Java. Future research should extend to other regions to provide a more comprehensive perspective. Moreover, upcoming research should incorporate institutional factors such as governance quality and fiscal transparency, which may influence financial performance.
