Abstract

Uji akurasi menggunakan AUC (Area Under the Curve) didapatkan 0.997 dengan akurasi sangat baik.Kata Kunci : Hyperthyroid, Receiver Operating Characteristic, Area Under Curve, Thyroid Stimulating Hormon (TSH), diagnostic test

Abstract

Background: Acute renal failure (ARF) is still associated with a high incidence of morbidity and mortality, as well as a high risk of developing chronic renal failure. ARF is a major public health problem, it is associated with high mortality, morbidity, and long-term risk of chronic kidney disease. One of the assessments of kidney function is the increase in serum urea in the body. The kidneys have an extraordinary ability to regenerate after injury and fully recover, and clinical options are limited to fluid management and dialysis procedures. The development of new strategies in order to increase the ability of kidney regeneration due to ARF, and to maintain kidney function both in the short term and in the long term is needed. This study aims to determine the effect of low-dose MSC-CM on urea levels in ARF. Method: This research is an in vivo research with the type of research Post Test Only Control Group Design. This study used a model of acute renal failure by inducing gentamicin and used 2 research groups, namely the control group (PBS), and the treatment group (MSC-CM 0.2. urea was examined using a spectrophotometer and then analyzed by unpaired t-test. Result: The results of this study showed that the mean urea levels between the control group (19.46 ± 0.56 mg / dL) and the treatment group (13.96 ± 0.73 mg / dL) were significantly different (p <0.05). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study indicated that there was an effect of low-dose of MSC-CM on urea levels in acute renal failure.

Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers are a complication of diabetes mellitus that can reduce the quality of life, particularly in terms of religious practices for Muslim patients in Indonesia. This program aims to improve knowledge and worship quality in Muslim patients with diabetic foot ulcers through the DiabetEasy program. This program consists of digital health education based on an application and practical worship training for relevant participants at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang, Indonesia. This activity showed increased understanding and worship quality after the intervention, from 60% to 90%. This indicates that this program can improve understanding and worship quality for Muslim patients with diabetic foot ulcers. This program can be an alternative option as a simple non-pharmacological therapy in promotive, preventive, and rehabilitative efforts for the management of diabetic foot ulcers.

Abstract

Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) represent a serious complication of diabetes mellitus, associated with significant morbidity and healthcare costs. The progression of DFUs is influenced by systemic and local factors, including haemoglobin levels, leukocyte count, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), and serum albumin. This study aims to explore the relationship between these clinical parameters and the severity of DFUs. We enrolled 62 patients with DFUs and classified ulcer severity as mild, moderate, or severe according to the Wagner classification system. Using Spearman’s rank correlation, we found significant associations: lower hemoglobin and albumin levels correlated with more severe ulcers (ρ = -0.34, p= 0.0065; ρ = -0.41, p = 0.00084, respectively), while higher HbA1c and leukocyte counts were associated with increased ulcer severity (ρ = 0.62, p = 0.000; ρ = 0.40, p = 0.0013, respectively). These findings suggest that hematologic and biochemical markers may serve as valuable indicators of DFU progression, potentially guiding clinical decision-making and improving patient outcomes. Further research is needed to elucidate the underlying mechanisms and evaluate targeted interventions for this high-risk population.

Abstract

Full-thickness wound are areas damage of skin associated with loss of epidermis and dermis. The wound healing mechanism consists proliferation, migration and remodeling. Hypoxic conditional medium of mesenchymal stem cells (HMSCs-CM) contains lots of soluble molecules, such as protein growth factor and cytokine anti-inflammation. The soluble molecule of HMSCs-CM plays a critical role in wound healing by upregulation of VEGF and collagen synthesis. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of HMSCs-CM on VEGF and collagen concentrations in rats with incised wounds. The methods of this study were an experimental animal study with post-test only control group design was performed involving 24 Wistar rats. The rats were randomized into four groups consisting of sham, control and two treatment groups (gel of HMSCs-CM at doses of 200 μL and 400 μL). The VEGF levels and collagen density were analyses using ELISA assay and Masson-trichome specific staining, respectively. One-way ANOVA and Post Hoc LSD were used to analyses the data. The results of this study showed that a VEGF levels was significant increased on day 6 with doses-dependent manner. Interestingly, the VEGF levels gradual decrease on day 9. In addition, the decreased of VEGF levels on day 9 in this study in line with our findings in which we found there was a trend in the decreased of collagen density, it indicated the completion of remodeling phase and there has been an acceleration in wound healing. This study demonstrated that HMSCs-CM were able to regulate VEGF levels and collagen synthesis in accelerate wound healing. The role of HMSCs-CM stimulate cutaneous wound healing should be clarified further. Keywords: hypoxic conditional medium of mesenchymal stem cells (HMSCs-CM), vascular endothelial growth factor, collagen synthesis, paracrine factors

Abstract

Abstract: Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD), commonly known as Singapore Flu, is an acute infectious illness characterized by flu-like symptoms that has resulted in multiple fatalities in Singapore. Hand, foot, and mouth disease predominantly impacts children in East and Southeast Asia. It is attributed to a cluster of human enteroviruses belonging to the Picornaviridae family. Risk factors that elevate the probability of HFMD encompass inadequate sanitation and insufficient personal hygiene. The aim of this community service initiative (PkM) is to enhance public awareness on Singapore Flu. The PkM implementation has two phases: (1) health education on personal cleanliness to avert Singapore Flu, and (2) complimentary health examinations and treatment. This initiative, coordinated by a team from Sultan Agung Islamic University, engaged 47 healthcare professionals and emphasized hygiene behaviors, particularly regular handwashing, as a fundamental preventative measure. The efficacy of the PkM was assessed by posing verbal inquiries to participants at the commencement and conclusion of the educational sessions. The evaluation results indicated a 20% enhancement in participant knowledge relative to their previous comprehension. Health assessments and complimentary therapies indicated that out of 32 participants, 12 (37.5%) exhibited stage 1 hypertension, 4 (12.5%) presented with stage 2 hypertension, and 16 (50%) maintained normal blood pressure. The mean random blood glucose level among individuals was <200 mg/dL, with one subject exhibiting a uric acid level >6 mg/dL. Enhancing participants' understanding of the significance of personal cleanliness is anticipated to elevate awareness and promote healthy living practices to mitigate the proliferation of Singapore Flu, which is currently escalating.
