Abstract

Seiring dengan dinamika kehidupan yang kian menuntut kecepatan, ketepatan, kewaspadaan, perkembangan intelektual, emosional, spiritual dan kreatifitas siswa, metode konvensional dirasa belum dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pendidikan di masa sekarang dan mendatang sehingga muncullah konsep pendidikan baru bernama full day school. Full day school adalah sekolah yang pelaksanaan pembelajaran dilakukan selama sehari penuh dari pagi hingga sore dengan sebagian waktunya digunakan untuk pelajaran yang suasananya informal, tidak kaku, menyenangkan siswa, membutuhkan kreatifitas dan inovasi dari guru. Karakteristik dari full day school ini adalah mengedepankan akhlak dan prestasi akademik. Full day school bertujuan memberikan dasar yang kuat terhadap siswa dan mengembangkan minat dan bakat serta meningkatkan kecerdasan siswa dalam segala aspeknya.Keunggulan dari full day school dibandingkan dengan sekolah reguler adalah anak mendapatkan pendidikan utuh meliputi kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotorik, lebih banyak belajar dari pada bermain, produktivitas tinggi, serta potensi anak tersalurkan melalui kegiatan ekstrakurikuler di sekolah. Penelitian terkait full day school yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa full day school memiliki pengaruh yang positif terhadap peningkatan karakter, moral, akhlaq, maupun prestasi akademik siswa.Kata kunci: fenomena pendidikan, full day school, sistem pendidikan

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine: (1) the existence of positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and learning achievement in basic natural science subjects; (2) there is a positive and significant relationship between learning styles and academic achievement basic natural science subjects; and (3) there is a positive and significant relationship together between learning motivation and learning styles with learning achievement in basic natural science subjects. This study used correlational and ex-post facto methods with multiple correlation analysis technique. The first hypothesis test results concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and learning achievement in basic natural science subjects. The second hypothesis test results concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between learning styles and academic achievement basic natural science subjects. Double correlation test results for the third hypothesis can be inferred learning motivation and learning styles together have a positive and significant relationship with achievement learn basic natural science subjects. The coefficient of determination of 0.398 indicates that 39.8% of the change in the learning achievement of the basic natural science subjects affected by learning motivation and learning styles, while 60.2% influenced by other variables not studied.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know: (1) difference of environmental care attitude of students before and after using comic based scientific attitude on basic natural science subjects and (2) effectiveness of the use of comic based scientific attitudes toward environmental care attitude on basic natural science subjects. This research uses pre experimental quantitative research method with one group pretest-posttest design with t-test and N-gain test analysis technique. The results of the first hypothesis test concluded that there are differences in environmental cares attitude before and after using comic based scientific attitude and experienced an increase in average values of environmental care attitude before and after using comic based scientific attitude. The result of the second hypothesis test concludes that the use of comic based scientific attitude is effective on the environmental cares attitude of students on the medium criterion with the value of the N-gain test of 0.425.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of a scientific approach on improving students' critical thinking skills in various educational units. The research method used is a systematic review of research results available in the Indonesia One Search portal by analyzing qualitative research from each. From the results of the search for scientific publications, 33 scientific articles were obtained which were screened with inclusion and exclusion criteria obtained 5 articles. The results of this study revealed that (1) the scientific approach had a positive and significant influence on students' critical thinking skills in various educational units starting from elementary to high school. (2) the application of a scientific approach, especially in natural science learning (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) can improve students' critical thinking skills because the scientific approach has a strong and significant relationship with critical thinking skills. This systematic review research has implications in science learning based on a scientific approach in developing innovative learning models related to the empowerment of higher order thinking skills that include critical thinking, creative thinking, and problem solving.

Abstract

The government, parents, teachers must realize that the world of education is changing. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are interrelated subjects in human life. Most of the teachers at SD Djama'atul Ichwan Program Utama Surakarta admitted that they did not understand and had not been able to apply the STEM approach in integrative thematic learning so that there was a need for training on the STEM approach in integrative thematic learning. The goal to be achieved from this service program is to provide understanding and skills to apply the STEM approach in integrative thematic learning. The method of implementing the service includes: (1) The method of approach carried out starting from the survey, licensing, and providing motivation for teachers who will take part in the training; (2) The method of implementing the program, including the preliminary stage, the stage of socialization and hearings, the training stage, and the final evaluation stage. The results of the analysis of the teacher's response questionnaire to service activities indicate that teachers believe that the service provides benefits for the development of educational activities in schools, training materials for the application of the STEM approach in integrative thematic learning are in great demand and needed by teachers in the development of 21st-century learning and the 4.0 industrial revolution, and teachers feel the benefits of service activities because they can become new scientific insights in the development of learning activities in schools. Pemerintah, orang tua, guru harus menyadari bahwa dunia pendidikan sangat berubah. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematic (STEM) merupakan mata pelajaran yang saling berkaitan dalam kehidupan manusia. Sebagian besar guru di SD Djama’atul Ichwan Program Utama Surakarta mengaku belum memahami dan belum mampu menerapkan pendekatan STEM dalam pembelajaran tematik integrative sehingga perlu adanya pelatihan tentang pendekatan STEM dalam pembelajaran tematik integratif. Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dari program pengabdian ini adalah memberikan pemahaman dan keterampilan menerapkan pendekatan STEM dalam pembelajaran tematik integratif. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian meliputi: (1) Metode pendekatan yang dilakukan mulai tahap survei, perijinan, dan pemberian motivasi bagi guru yang akan mengikuti pelatihan; (2) Metode pelaksanaan program, meliputi tahap pendahuluan, tahap sosialisasi dan audiensi, tahap pelatihan, serta tahap evaluasi akhir. Hasil analisis terhadap kuesioner tanggapan guru terhadap kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa guru meyakini bahwa adanya pengabdian memberikan manfaat bagi berkembangnya kegiatan pendidikan di sekolah, materi pelatihan penerapan pendekatan STEM dalam pembelajaran tematik integratif sangat diminati dan dibutuhkan guru dalam pengembangan pembelajaran abad 21 dan revolusi industri 4.0, dan guru merasakan manfaat kegiatan pengabdian karena dapat menjadi wawasan keilmuan baru dalam pengembangan kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah.

Abstract

Permasalahan pendidikan di Indonesia terutama bidang pelajaran IPA sangat memprihatinkan. Hasil survei yang dilakukan oleh PISA dan TIMSS memberikan gambaran bahwa posisi peserta didik di Indonesia masih berada dalam rangking bawah dengan skor rata-rata yang rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) membandingkan secara filosofis antara kurikulum Indonesia dengan kurikulum di Australia; (2) membandingkan konten pembelajaran IPA di Indonesia dan Australia dalam perspektif kurikulum; dan (3) membandingkan kendala pembelajaran IPA di Indonesia dan Australia dalam perspektif kurikulum. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat studi pustaka (library research). Teknik pengumpulan data memakai dokumentasi, dan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) secara filosofis, Kurikulum 2013 di Indonesia cenderung berbasis budaya dan agama, sedangkan kurikulum Australia cenderung mengembangkan cara berpikir dan intelektual; (2) konten materi pada Australian Curriculum: Science penekanannya pada ilmu bumi dan ruang angkasa, sedangkan Kurikulum 2013 pada sistem tubuh manusia; dan (3) kendala dalam pembelajaran IPA pada Kurikulum 2013 adalah kurangnya konten sains, guru belum kompeten dalam membelajarkan sains integratif, hasil TIMSS dan PISA rendah, dan kurangnya literasi ilmiah, sedangkan pada Australian Curriculum: Science dimensi spiritual, moral, dan budaya belum dimasukkan. The problem of education in Indonesia, especially in science lessons, is very concerning. The results of the survey conducted by PISA and TIMSS show that students in Indonesia are still in the lower ranks with low average scores. This study aims to (1) philosophically compare the Indonesian Curriculum with the Australian Curriculum; (2) analyzing the content of science learning in Indonesia and Australia based on a curriculum perspective; and (3) comparing science learning problems based on a curriculum perspective. This research uses a qualitative approach through a literature study. The data collection technique used documentation, which was analyzed descriptively. The results show that (1) philosophically, the 2013 curriculum in Indonesia tends to be based on culture and religion, while the Australian Curriculum tends to develop a way of thinking and intellectuals; (2) the material contained in the Australian Curriculum focuses on earth and space sciences, while the Indonesian Curriculum is on the human body systems; and (3) the obstacles in learning science in the Indonesian Curriculum are the lack of science content, teachers mostly not yet competent in teaching integrated science, low TIMSS and PISA results, and a lack of scientific literacy, whereas in the Australian Curriculum the spiritual, moral, and cultural dimensions have not included.

Abstract

Science education, beginning in elementary and junior high schools, should be able to meet the demand for grasping the notion of science. Junior high school science learning is an integrated science learning that comprises three branches, namely biology, physics, and chemistry. Understanding chemistry as a whole, which comprises three levels of representation, namely macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic, is what learning chemistry entails. The purpose of this article is to review the literature on the three levels of representation theory and the relationship between the three levels of representation in learning. Johnstone's levels of representation have an impact on science learning by encouraging integration across multiple representation. This qualitative research is library research with books and other literature as the main object, such as scientific journals and scientific articles. The term represents has several meanings, including to symbolize, to recall thoughts through images or imagination, and to provide a depiction. Levels of representation refer to the use of three levels of representation to represent a phenomenon. The three levels of representation, namely the macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic levels, are interconnected and contribute to students' ability to understand and comprehend abstract chemistry.

Abstract

Hasil survei TIMSS memberikan gambaran tentang rendahnya prestasi IPA siswa yang ada di Indonesia sehingga perlu dilakukan peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran khususnya IPA. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk mengetahui kendala yang dihadapi oleh guru dalam penggunaan media pembelajaran sains di SD Negeri Pajang 1 Surakarta, (2) merumuskan desain media pembelajaran yang cocok untuk digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA di SD Negeri Pajang 1 Surakarta, dan mengembangkan media pembelajaran komik yang disebut "KOMSA" dalam materi rangka untuk pembelajaran IPA. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian dan Pengembangan melalui model Plomp yang dimodifikasi dengan menghilangkan fase implementasi. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh adalah (1) penggunaan media pembelajaran yang belum optimal, (2) desain pembelajaran media adalah media komik berbasis kontekstual, dan hasilnya adalah produk prototype media pembelajaran komik yang disebut "KOMSA" pada materi rangka. Rekomendasi untuk peneliti selanjutnya dapat mengembangkan media komik “KOMSA” untuk materi pelajaran lain yang bersifat abstrak dan sulit dipahami oleh siswa. Abstract

Kurikulum 2013 yang diterapkan di Sekolah Dasar merekomendasikan model pembelajaran berbasis pendekatan saintifik yaitu discovery learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning dan inquiry learning. Sebagian besar guru di SD Negeri Gandekan No 230 Surakarta mengaku belum memahami keempat model pembelajaran tersebut sehingga perlu adanya pelatihan tentang model discovery learning dan project-based learning. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian meliputi: (1) metode pendekatan yang dilakukan mulai tahap survei, perijinan, dan pemberian motivasi bagi guru yang akan mengikuti pelatihan (2) metode pelaksanaan program, meliputi tahap pendahuluan, tahap sosialisasi dan audiensi, tahap pelatihan, serta tahap evaluasi akhir. Hasil kuesioner tanggapan guru terhadap pengabdian yang telah dilakukan menunjukan bahwa materi pelatihan sangat diminati dan dibutuhkan guru dalam pengembangan pembelajaran abad 21 dan menunjang era revolusi industri 4.0. Guru merasakan manfaat dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang dilaksanakan karena dapat menjadi wawasan keilmuan baru dalam pengembangan kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah.

Abstract

The study's aims are as follows: 1) describe the scientific learning process using creative animated films; and 2) analyze the benefits and drawbacks of innovative animated movies in science learning during the Covid-19 epidemic. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative research. The study's findings: 1) determine the response of students by providing science material with innovative animated video media; 2) the use of animated video media in online learning makes it easier for students to understand science material delivered by subject teachers; and 3) the benefits of animated videos, which can ease the teacher's task and serve as a tool to help the teacher when giving science material. Make it easy for pupils to grasp the subject, inspire students to be excited about studying, and encourage students to study science topics. The downsides of animated videos are that the process of creating them takes a long time, and there is a requirement for animation software.
