Abstract

Sexual abuse remains a prevalent issue among disabled individuals, particularly adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Parental lack of knowledge and negative attitudes towards sexual abuse contribute to its occurrence. This study aims to investigate the impact of “Underwear Rule” training on the attitudes of parents of adolescents with intellectual disabilities towards sexual abuse prevention. Employing a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design, the research involved 72 parents. The Wilcoxon test was utilized for analysis. The findings reveal a positive influence of “Underwear Rule” training on parents’ attitudes, enhancing their motivation to prevent sexual abuse in adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Collaboration among healthcare workers, educators, and parents is recommended to implement and integrate “Underwear Rule” training into daily activities, effectively preventing sexual abuse in this vulnerable population.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a malignancy that attacks the female breast. Based on data from the East Java Health Office for 2020, Sumenep Regency is the area with the most breast cancer and ranks 12th in East Java. One of the breast cancer screening efforts that can be done is the breast self-examination technique (BSE . This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge, family support and access to health information with the motivation to perform BSE in the Pagerungan Besar Islands, Sumenep Regency. This study uses a cross sectional design. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling with a sample of 77 women. The research instrument used a questionnaire on the level of knowledge of family support, access to health information and BSE motivation. The i test used was the Spearman Correlation Test where a significant relationship was found between the level of knowledge and the motivation to perform BSE (p value=0.010; r=0.291), family support to the motivation to perform BSE (p value=0.00; r=) and relationship between access to health information and motivation to perform BSE (p value=0.005; r=). Increasing knowledge, family support and access to health information for women in the Pagerungan Besar Islands is very important to increase women's motivation to perform BSE as an effort to detect early breast cancer.

Abstract

Background: Iron-deficiency anemia (IDA) remains a significant health problem among adolescent girls, affecting growth, academic achievement, and reproductive health. Traditional education methods like lectures and booklets are often less engaging and ineffective in changing behavior. Few studies have tested gamified, theory-based health education for anemia prevention in Indonesian adolescents. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Game Health Education Anemia (GHEA) compared with a Digital Pocket Book in improving knowledge and attitudes toward IDA prevention among adolescent girls. Methods: A quasi-experimental study, guided by the Health Belief Model (HBM) and reported according to the TREND checklist, was conducted at SMP Islam Ma’arif 02 Malang, Indonesia, in June 2025. Sixty female adolescents were selected through purposive sampling based on power analysis (effect size = 1.12, α = 0.05, power = 0.95). Inclusion criteria were female students aged 12–18 years, healthy, and owning a digital device; exclusion criteria were prior exposure to digital anemia education or incomplete participation. Participants were equally assigned to an intervention group (GHEA) and a control group (the Digital Pocket Book). Data were collected using a validated questionnaire and analyzed with Wilcoxon signed-rank, paired t-, and Mann–Whitney U tests at a 0.05 significance level. Results: The mean age of participants was 14 years (range 13–15). The GHEA group showed significant improvements in knowledge (Z = -4.847, p < 0.001) and attitudes (Z = -4.275, p < 0.001), while the control group showed smaller yet significant gains. Between-group analysis revealed higher post-test scores in the intervention group for both knowledge (Z = -5.284, p < 0.001) and attitudes (Z = -3.081, p = 0.002). Conclusion: The GHEA intervention was more effective than the Digital Pocket Book in improving adolescents’ knowledge and attitudes toward IDA prevention, indicating that gamification-based education can serve as an engaging and effective tool for school-based health promotion

Abstract

Entering puberty, adolescents begin to feel sexual urges and an increase in curiosity about sexuality. This curiosity triggered adolescents to seek information and even try to engage in risky sexual behavior. Risky sexual behavior carried out by adolescents will have an impact. The purpose of this community service is to provide audiovisual-based reproductive health education to prevent risky sexual behavior in adolescents. The implementation of the education program in this series of community service was carried out on November 11-24, 2023, with 260 college students of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, Brawijaya University. Participants were divided into two groups, namely the intervention group (health education using audio-visual media) consist 130 college students and the control group (health education using leaflet) consist 130 college students. Evaluation was carried out through a questionnaire to measure parent-adolescent communication before and after the education program. The results showed that before and after being educated, the majority of adolescents had sufficient communication with their parents. There was an effect of reproductive health education on parent-adolescent communication in the intervention group as evidenced by the p-value of 0.041. Meanwhile, in the control group, there was no significant influence between reproductive health education and parent-adolescent communication and no significant difference was found between parent-adolescent communication in the intervention group and the control group. It suggests that while the intervention had a positive internal impact, it was not strong enough to produce a significant difference when compared to the control group.

Abstract

Electronic Medical Records (EMR) as a form of healthcare digitalization, aim to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and quality of healthcare. However, the transition from paper-based systems remains limited in many countries and continues implementation challenges. review aims to identify facilitators and barriers of EMR implementation among healthcare workers in hospitals settings. The study design used was a scoping review. A comprehensive search was conducted using the PCC (Population-Concepts-Context) strategy, using terms related to factors influencing the implementation of EMR by healthcare workers in hospitals, in four databases (ProQuest, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar) for studies from 2020 - 2025. Article selection was performed using the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A total of twenty-eight studies met the inclusion criteria. The findings indicate that facilitators and barriers of EMR implementation emerge from the interaction between staff-related, organization, and technological factors. Key facilitators include digital literacy, organizational training support, and system quality. Major barriers involve low staff readiness, insufficient organizational support, and technology quality and complexity issues. Most studies conducted in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) reported staff-related factors as facilitators and barriers of EMR implementation. Thus, effective implementation strategies need to be designed contextually through the simultaneous strengthening of human resource capacity, organizational support, and technological quality.
