Abstract

This research aimed to examine the effect of VAK approach (Visualization, Auditory, Kinestetic) towards the result of learning physics of students at SMPN 10 Mataram. The kind of research used was experimental design with design of research was randomized posttest only control design. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Population in this research was all the students from the eight grade at SMPN 10 Mataram, while the sample was 25 students of class VIII A as the experimental group and 27 students of class VIII B as the control group. The data obtained was analyzed by using t-test of two-tailed. t-count was 4.78 and t-table was 2.00 with significance level 0.05. Hence, t-table is smaller than t-count or t-count is bigger than t-table. It means that Null Hypothesis was rejected and Alternate Hypothesis was accepted. It means that the application of VAK Approach (Visualization, Auditory, Kinestetic) affects the results of learning physics of students. Keywords: VAK Approach

Abstract

Research on student creativity at The Study Program of Physics Education FKIP Universitas Mataram for Wave and Optics course was conducted. This study aims to describe student creativity in the creativity of solving problems related to wave and optical matter. Tests were given to 21 students as samples with a test format following the principle of multi-representation on wave and optical questions. This test emphasizes the creativity of students' cognitive thinking which includes fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The results of cognitive thinking creativity in problem solving creativity showed that 38% were good and 68% were quite. Thus the mapping of the level quality of cognitive thinking creativity the students of Physics Education at FKIP Unram in the odd semester of the 2018/2019 academic year is generally at the level of being quite creative. Keywords: cognitive thinking creativity,  multi-representation

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the inquiry learning model to improve students' cognitive learning outcomes at the temperature and heat of class XI from one public school (SMAN 1 Gerung). This type of research is a quasi experiment with the basic pattern "The One Group Pretest-Posttest Design" and descriptive method. The research instrument used was the observation sheet applying the learning model and test the learning outcomes in the cognitive domain (C1 to C6). Assessment of learning implementation using a scale of 1 to 4. Student learning outcomes are said to be complete if 80% of students obtain a minimum value of 75. The results of this study indicate that: the implementation of learning increased from the criteria both in the first meeting to rise to be very good criteria at the fourth meeting. Student cognitive learning outcomes increased from 43 in the pre-test to 78 in the post-test, with classical completeness of 84%. The conclusion of this study is inquiry learning effectively improves students' cognitive learning outcomes in temperature and heat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs of students in learning science in junior high schools which will be used as a basis in designing ethnoscience-based learning models for the development of critical thinking skills and concern for students' local culture. Teachers who were used as samples of this study were 30 junior high school science teachers in Lombok. Data were collected through field observations, literature review, questionnaires, and interviews. Data were analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that: 1) There are 5 basic competencies that can be developed in ethnoscience-based learning. 2) Methods suitable for ethnoscience-based learning are investigation / experimentation, field observation, and discussion. 3) Suitable learning resources to support science learning are the natural and socio-cultural environment, textbooks, audio visuals, and the internet. 4) The assessment system suitable for ethnoscience-based science learning to develop students' critical thinking skills and local cultural awareness is non-test assessment (performance, attitudes, portfolios, products) and assessment by tests. 5) Critical thinking skills that can be developed are: Providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, making further explanations, strategies and tactics. 6) Local cultural concerns that can be developed are liking local culture, introducing local culture to others, preserving local culture. 7) Conceptual model of ethnoscience-based science learning which is suitable for developing critical thinking skills and local cultural awareness includes the following steps: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Exhibit, and Evaluate.
