Abstract

Thrifting, the increasingly popular activity of shopping for used clothes, came under scrutiny when the government banned the import of used goods. This study aims to analyze thrifting consumer communication experiences regarding prohibiting imports of used goods and their impact on local industries. In the phenomenological approach, the researcher explores the meaning of thrifting consumers' experiences related to popular culture and wasteful behavior. Studies show that thrifting as a shopping alternative can help overcome the problem of turning off expensive and low-quality local goods. This is because thrifting provides foreign goods at lower prices and good quality. Even so, the issue of local products of inferior quality and expensive remains an obstacle that must be overcome. Possible solutions include improving the quality of local products, providing education and information to the public, and improving the quality of thrifting services and products. Thus, this problem can be overcome with solutions from the government, local producers, and consumers so that it can positively impact the economy and the environment.

Abstract

This study discusses the preservation of Gendang Beleq art in Wanasaba Village, East Lombok. Gendang Beleq is a traditional musik art form of the Sasak ethnic group that holds significant cultural value and is used in various traditional ceremonies. However, this art form faces challenges in the age of technology and the younger generation's interest in modern musik. The research employs a qualitative ethnographic communication method with the research location in Wanasaba Village. Data is collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings indicate that Gendang Beleq has essential artistic, historical, communal, and educational values within Lombok culture. This art form enhances culture, preserves cultural heritage, unites the community, and provides skills and cultural understanding to the younger generation. Despite the challenges, Gendang Beleq continues to evolve with the influence of time. This research provides a deeper understanding of the importance of preserving and developing Gendang Beleq art as a valuable cultural heritage. Preservation efforts enrich local culture and enhance appreciation for traditional arts in society.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology has made the emergence of many digital platforms make it easier to disseminate information. This study aims to find out marketing communication through Instagram social media on Instagram @premiumphotography_ph accounts. With this phenomenon, this study aims to find out marketing communication through Instagram social media on Instagram @premiumphotography_ph account. The reason for researching this is because it is interesting to discuss and in the digital era there are many significant changes related to life. The focus of the researcher here is Instagram social media, how they can use digital media to market photography services. This research method uses qualitative, data collection techniques through observation on Instagram social media accounts @premiumphotography_ph, observations and interviews. The result of this study is that photo and video vendors from Premium Photography Yogyakarta effectively use Instagram social media as a new platform to convey information related to their services to the public. They package their information in the form of stories and other interesting content published through the Stories feature and feeds on Instagram. The use of Instagram by @premiumphotography_ph accounts as a publication medium has proven its effectiveness in achieving their goals.

Abstract

Wayang Sada, as a form of traditional Javanese performing arts, faces significant challenges in maintaining its relevance amid the growing tide of globalization. The main problem faced is how to maintain the interest of the younger generation in Wayang Sada in the midst of the onslaught of foreign cultural values supported by the development of modern technology and entertainment. This research aims to explore the role of Wayang Sada as a medium of cultural communication as well as efforts to preserve local values in the context of modernization. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, which focuses on an in-depth analysis of the phenomenon of Wayang Sada in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The results of the study show that although Wayang Sada has great potential in shaping the character of the younger generation through the local wisdom values contained in it, there is a significant gap in its integration strategy into the lives of the current young generation. The conclusion of this study is that Wayang Sada needs innovation and adaptation in cultural presentation and communication in order to attract the interest of the younger generation, while maintaining the preservation of local cultural values in the midst of the challenges of globalization.

Abstract

Communication between humans can be established more easily and quickly with the development of advanced technology today. The number of social media that exists at this time, makes the communication process can be done easily. Currently, the communication process has become easier so that we know media communication, namely in this study through Instagram social media. In using social media there are communication ethics that must be considered, so it should not be arbitrary in communicating. This study examined the media behavior of football fans on Blackpink's K-pop fandom on Blackpink's Instagram social media account. The research method in this study uses a qualitative approach. Data collection is carried out by observing a case that is happening through Instagram social media. The data collection method used is by observing and analyzing the ethics in communicating football fans with Blackpink's K-pop fandom on Instagram media through comments shown on the blackpinkofficial Instagram account. The results of this study, we can see that the communication we use on Instagram, over time can reduce the rules contained in it. The reason is, social media is a gathering place for various kinds of human nature, both mature in addressing problems and those who are still childish, causing poor communication ethics of football fans and Blackpink fans.

Abstract

Stunting is a serious health problem in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). This is evidenced by the prevalence of stunting in DIY according to the 2021 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) of 17.3 percent. This figure shows that DIY is ranked third lowest in Indonesia after Bali at 10.9 percent and DKI Jakarta at 16.8 percent. The importance of stunting health literacy based on short film media produced by the DIY Public Health Department (Dinkes) is one of the alternatives and solutions to increase understanding related to stunting. Short film media about stunting has the power to convey relevant health messages to the public. This study aims to obtain a deeper understanding of stunting prevention through health literacy in a short film, Salah Kaprah, produced by the DIY Public Health Department. Qualitative research methods with the research stages are determining the focus of research, data collection, and data analysis. The results showed that the disease-related narrative is still considered dangerous. The disease narrative becomes harmless when delivered by health workers. The role of health workers is central and important to carry out literacy in tackling hoax disease-related issues.

Abstract

"Wei" is a family-style short film released in 2020. This research will discuss religious tolerance in diverse societies like Indonesia. The film "WEI" is the subject of research that describes the values of religious tolerance through family relations in the film story. This research aims to know the meaning of tolerance in this film. The method used is narrative analysis; this film will identify the meaning, character development, and tolerance values in the story's beginning, middle, and end. The values of tolerance include recognition of family rights and mutual understanding between the film characters. This film illustrates that religious tolerance can grow through the appreciation of individual rights and understanding between different religious beliefs. This study concludes that tolerance is essential in social life, especially in the family, because tolerance itself is one of the reasons for the harmony of families with differences or religious convictions. As a family film, this film differs from some family films in Indonesia, where the main character, from the beginning to the end, has no dialogue. Still, the expression and character can explain the character's purpose to the audience in the film; this is the distinction between the Film Wei and the other family films.

Abstract

A web series is a serialized program similar to television shows, but the difference is that it is distributed through electronic media. In 2020, a popular YouTube content creator in Indonesia, along with their team, launched a web series titled "Setan Taubat." The web series revolves around positive activities during the holy month of Ramadan and tells the story of a successful hijab entrepreneur who has a supernatural friend named Becir. Many new developments in the storyline pique the curiosity of the audience, and the series conveys positive messages and behaviors. Verbal messages are emphasized in this web series. This research aims to analyze the forms of positive interpersonal communication behavior in the web series "Setan Taubat" using Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotics theory, which categorizes signs based on symbols, objects, and interpretants known as the meaning triangle. The research approach utilized is qualitative and descriptive to construct the meaning of messages in the web series "Setan Taubat" and comprehend the phenomenon by describing it through words. Additionally, the study employs semiotic analysis methods. Primary data collection is conducted through observation of the web series, and secondary data is obtained from documentation and literature review. The research results indicate that the web series "Setan Taubat" contains forms of positive interpersonal communication behavior as identified through Charles Sanders Pierce's semiotic analysis. Positive communication behavior that supports interpersonal communication includes openness, positive behavior, supportive behavior, empathy, and equality. Examples of attitudes include care, wisdom, responsibility, and others. These behaviors can be observed through the data findings presented in the research.

Abstract

This research aims to reveal the message in the film 'Laskar Pencerah'. It provides an overview of the wider community and how non-formal education can provide alternatives and educational inspiration through the learning community. It uses descriptive qualitative to build the meaning of the message in the film 'Laskar Pencerah' and to understand the phenomenon by describing it in words. In collecting data, it uses observations viewed through the YouTube channel. The data are used to explore the meaning of the film's story, explain, give, and detail the film's message. Furthermore, the research shows that the main character of a child who wants to continue to learn although limited in his life to achieve what he aspires to with continuous efforts. His efforts and hard work shape the child's character and help him find his identity early on.

Abstract

Various factors can influence a person's buying interest in using a product. One of the factors that can influence buying interest is the advertisement presented by the manufacturer. This study aims to find out how the effect of Shoope e-commerce advertising on purchase intention. The method used in this research is a quantitative method. Respondents in this study were 100 students studying in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires in the form of a Likert scale. The questionnaires collected by the researcher tested the data using the validity and reliability tests used in this study to analyze the data. The results of the study show that e-commerce advertisements on Shoope have a partial and significant effect on the buying interest of students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. It is proved by the results of the t-test that the significance value of the relationship between e-commerce advertising and buying interest is 0.000. These results indicate that sign (0.00) < 0.05 which indicates that e-commerce advertising has a partial and significant influence on the buying interest of students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Based on the research that has been done regarding the effect of e-commerce advertising on the buying interest of students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. As we know, the function of advertising itself is to promote goods or services so that the audience knows the goods or services we have. Shopee has a very good advertising and promotion strategy. Like every month, on the same date, there will be a large-scale event to promote products or services at Shopee or Shopee in collaboration with top artists to voice the promotion.
