Abstract

This study aims to investigate the influence of zakat, infaq, shadaqah (ZIS), sukuk, and Islamic financing on Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This research employs a quantitative approach. Research samples were collected from official government literature, namely the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS). The data analysis technique used in this study is the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM), implemented with EViews software. The research results indicate that ZIS affects economic growth in Indonesia in the short term due to the influence of income distribution, which increases the consumption of the poor, thereby affecting aggregate demand, and this aligns with Keynesian theory. Furthermore, Islamic financing affects economic growth in Indonesia in the short term because the dominant contract used is murabahah. However, sukuk and inflation do not affect economic growth in Indonesia. For future research, it is suggested to conduct comparative studies with other countries to understand the influence of Islamic economic variables more contextually. For the government, it is hoped that policies can be issued to maximize sharia economic instrument funds so that they can provide maximum benefits to the Indonesian people.

Abstract

Green banking has emerged as a global strategic approach to support sustainability, yet its impact on bank profitability in Indonesia remains underexplored. This study aims to analyze the effect of green banking practices on the profitability of commercial banks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Using a quantitative approach, the study examines panel data from 13 banks over the 2021–2024 period through fixed effect regression analysis. Profitability is measured by Return on Assets (ROA). The independent variables include operational efficiency (operating expenses to operating income), capital adequacy ratio, sustainable financing (portion of green lending), digital service usage (number of e-banking users), number of ATMs, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. The results show that operational efficiency, sustainable financing, digitalization, and CSR funds significantly affect ROA. Meanwhile, capital adequacy and the number of ATMs have no significant effect. The study concludes that specific green banking practices can enhance profitability when implemented effectively. These findings contribute to the green banking literature in Indonesia and offer practical insights for banks and regulators in formulating sustainable finance policies.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The digital transformation of payment systems has encouraged Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to begin implementing cashless payment technologies such as the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS). However, increased use of QRIS has not been fully accompanied by adequate levels of financial literacy and understanding of digital financial inclusion, resulting in suboptimal utilization. This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy and digital financial inclusion on the decision to use QRIS among MSMEs in Malang City. The study employs a quantitative approach using purposive sampling of 393 MSME owners who use QRIS. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS. The results indicate that financial literacy and digital financial inclusion have a positive and significant effect on the decision to use QRIS, both partially and simultaneously. These findings reinforce the importance of improving financial literacy and expanding digital financial inclusion to promote the optimal use of QRIS among MSMEs.

Abstract

Poverty is one of the complex issues posing a serious threat for developing countries such as Indonesia. With its high potential of zakat revenue, which can serve as an instrument of economic distribution and equality as well as socio-economic function driver, this nation is expected to be able to reduce disparity and foster self-sufficiency among its people. The objective of this research is to analyze the impacts of productive zakat empowerment through the Independent Business Group (KUM) program by Yayasan Dana Sosial Al-Falah (YDSF) of Malang on the wellbeing of the zakat beneficiaries, the mustahik. The foci of this research are business improvement, income improvement, and life improvement. The primary data of this qualitative descriptive case study was acquired via in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies, and the secondary data was harvested from library research. The subject consists of nine beneficiaries of the program from various business fields. The results of the analysis indicate that the program increased the beneficiaries’ business capacity through business capital aid, training, and managerial and spiritual assistance. Such impact is observable from increases in the beneficiaries’ average income, ability to fulfill basic needs, growing business, and overall improvements in material and non-material life quality. However, most of them are still infaq providers (munfiq) and small charity givers (mushoddiq), who have not entirely transformed into zakat payers (muzakki). This study highlights the importance of optimizing productive zakat management oriented toward sustainability and long-term mentoring to help mustahik transforming into economically independent people. Therefore, management system improvement and monitoring as well as more massive and sustainable strategies are crucial in order to ensure that productive zakat functions as a strategic instrument for poverty eradication and people’s economic empowerment.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing role of Islamic banking in the national financial system and the inconsistent findings of previous studies regarding the determinants of Third-Party Funds (DPK). This study aims to analyze the effect of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), inflation, the BI Rate, and the exchange rate on the amount of Third-Party Funds in Islamic Commercial Banks during the 2016–2024 period. The Covid-19 pandemic is also included as a dummy variable to capture changes in public saving behavior during the crisis period. This study employs a quantitative approach using quarterly time-series secondary data. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Newey-West estimator through Stata 17 to address autocorrelation problems. The results indicate that GDP, inflation, and the exchange rate have a positive and significant effect on Third-Party Funds, while the BI Rate has a negative and significant effect. Simultaneously, all variables significantly influence Third-Party Funds in Islamic Commercial Banks. These findings imply that macroeconomic stability plays an important role in strengthening fund collection in Islamic banking.

Abstract

Indonesia’s demographic dividend presents both opportunities and challenges, particularly as high unemployment among the working-age population risks hindering the younger generation’s economic independence; thus, sustainable empowerment strategies through the use of productive zakat are needed. This study aims to analyze the influence of educa-tion and training in the Rumah Gemilang Indonesia (RGI) Program of LAZ Al Azhar in Depok City on the economic independence of alumni. The study employs an associative quantitative approach with a sample of 96 alumni selected via simple random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicate that education and training have a positive and significant effect on economic independence. This suggests that edu-cation and training based on productive zakat contribute to promoting economic inde-pendence. These findings indicate that the utilization of productive zakat through educa-tion and training can serve as an effective empowerment strategy to enhance the economic independence of zakat recipients and strengthen the empowerment programs of zakat in-stitutions.
