Abstract

This research is an experiment of categorizing visual abilities by representations of a solving problem through class experiment. The research is to investigate, explore, and enhance geometry thinking in solving mathematics problems presented visually. The tasks are cognitive strategies that rely on the visual representations and the genesis of the abilities with the assumption that the performance requires the manipulation of the visual representations. The model of the research developed from the students’ imagination of a visual problem or situations for accomplishing the solution and called binocular rivalry. The data are of interconnection for promoting visual abilities or senses, as the flexibility of thinking and the likelihood of having representations available in prior knowledge. The data analyzed by categorizing according to the visual abilities and by Control Chart of Attributes. The results are: 80% of the visual abilities are nonconforming index; the variation of visual representations is high in nonconforming index, but the depth struggle by the subjects and 70% select the general geometric figures that recognized. The conclusions are comprehensive, and the visual representations are nonconforming index, and the visual senses enhance in all categories.   Keywords: Visual representation; Visual ability; Categorize visual skills; Geometry thinking; Cognitive strategy.

Abstract

 The study aimed to obtain information about comparing student learning outcomes, given the genius learning strategy and think talk write in terms of student creativity. The study was a quasi-experimental design and the research design was a 2x3 factorial design. The population in this study were all students of VIII grade at SMP Negeri 1 Sepauk, with a sample of VIIIC and VIIID grades who were randomly selected using cluster random sampling technique. Based on the results of data processing, the following conclusions were obtained: (1) The learning outcomes between students who were given a genius learning strategy were relatively the same as think talk write, both in general and based on the student's creativity category, (2) The learning outcomes between students who had relatively high creativity the same as students who have medium or low creativity, and students with moderate creativity have relatively the same learning outcomes as students who have low creativity both in general and in terms of learning strategies. Keywords: Creativity, Genius Learning, Think Talk Write

Abstract

Abstract.  The purpose is to implement action research in mathematics teaching and learning process. The questions addressed are: (1) Is the teaching and learning process compatible with the management standard? And (2) how does the teaching and learning process influence the ability to handle varies needs of students? The research procedure is the researcher observed by the lecturers of mathematics through survey about the knowledge and experience based on the standard. The implementation directed at improving student learning outcomes and the improvements to the didactical, methodical and pedagogical components. Through the research activity: (1) directly involved in providing action; (2) to learn and apply the knowledge and thoughts; (3) get social measures; (4) openly justified biases to students; (5) get a permanent effect on the groups; and (6)  to contribute to the desired changes.The data is qualitative and quantitative and analyzed descriptively. The results are: (a) the compatible with teaching standard, i.e., more benefit, practical, valid and reliable and (b) the teaching and learning process accomodated to vary of the student needs.Keywords: action research; compatible; didactical; pedagogical; methodical

Abstract

Komunikasi matematis lisan, pemahaman konseptual, dan motivasi belajar merupakan bagian penting dalam pembelajaran matematika, akan tetapi fakta dilapangan yang diperoleh bahwa kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan, pemahaman konseptual, dan motivasi belajar pada peserta didik masih terdapat masalah. Sebab itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan, pemahaman konseptual, dan motivasi belajar dalam pembelajaran matematika materi persamaan kuadrat menggunakan media Quizizz pada peserta didik kelas XII di Pontianak.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif.Partisipan penelitian ini yaitu empat orang peserta didik kelas XII.Sumber data diperoleh data lapangan dan pengamatan dilakukan oleh peneliti sendiri dengan menggunakan instrumen lembar observasi, hasil wawancara, dokumentasi berupa video dan rekaman suara selama kegiatan berlangsung.Pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan tiga kali pertemuan dengan data yang diperoleh meliputi hasil observasi kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan, motivasi belajar, dan hasil tes kemampuan pemahaman konseptual pesertadidik dengan data pendukung berupa video dan rekaman suara.Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan menarik kesimpulan.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam pembelajaran matematika materi persamaan kuadrat menggunakan media quizizz pada peserta didik kelas XII selama tiga pertemuan diperoleh kemampuan komunikasi matematis lisan terkategori baik, pemahaman konseptual terkategori sangat baik, dan motivasi belajar terkategori sangat tinggi.

Abstract

Bahan ajar matematika yang digunakan di SMK masih sangat umum, siswa tidak diajarkan matematika sesuai dengan konsentrasi keahlian yang dijalankan. Penelitian ini bertujuan melakukan pengembangan serta penerapan modul ajar matematika bidang bisnis dan manajemen dalam dunia perbankan sesuai kebutuhan Industri dan tenaga kerja (IDUKA). Modul dikembangkan melalui riset dengan studi pengembangan model 4D, analisis deskriptif mixed metode, dan penentuan sample melalui teknik Cluster Sampling. Hasil penyebaran angket kepada 22 guru pada MGMP matematika SMK, disimpulkan 81,70% responden menyatakan bahwa buku ajar matematika yang digunakan saat ini belum dapat membekali siswa trampil menyelesaikan masalah matematika sesuai bidang keahlian yang dijalankan. Berdasarkan analisis kuantitatif data validasi kerangka isi terhadap hasil post test siswa disimpulkan terdapat hubungan antara kerangka isi yang dikembangkan terhadap keterampilan menyelesaikan masalah  matematika bisnis dan manajemen. Berdasarkan data ahli materi, ahli media, penilaian guru, ujicoba I dan II modul ajar didapat nilai rata-rata 3,84. Dengan kriteria  “Baik”.Mathematics teaching materials used in vocational high schools are still very common, but students are not taught mathematics in accordance with the concentration of expertise carried out. This study aims to develop and implement mathematics teaching modules in the business, management, or banking world according to IDUKA's needs. The module was developed through research with 4D model development studies, mixed method descriptive analysis, and sample determination through the cluster sampling technique. Based on the results of distributing the questionnaire to 22 teachers at the Vocational Mathematics MGMP, it was concluded that 81.70% of respondents stated that the mathematics textbooks currently used had not been able to equip students with skills in solving mathematical problems according to the area of expertise being carried out. Based on the quantitative analysis of content framework validation data on students' post-test results, it was concluded that there was a relationship between the content framework developed and the problem-solving skills of business and management mathematics. Based on data from material experts, media experts, teacher assessment, and experiments I and II of teaching modules, the average value was 3.84. With the criteria of "good".

Abstract

The existing comprehension of the concept of limit is marked by a deficiency in prioritising the enhancement of students' cognitive frameworks. The aim of this study is to examine the formation of cognitive structures while acquiring the concept of limitations. This study utilises qualitative approaches, namely descriptive analysis, to examine the development of cognitive processes in the process of acquiring the concept of boundaries. This study investigates the investigation of cognitive structures to ascertain the process of drawing conclusions, with the aim of creating instructional materials that facilitate comprehension of the concept of constraints. The survey included students who were currently enrolled in the 2021/2022 academic year at three public senior high schools in Pontianak. The study aims to analyse the progression of students' cognitive structures during the acquisition of the concept of limitations. The results revealed that all 14 students showed competence in determining the limit of a continuous polynomial function, specifically in the context of a linear function and a quadratic function. Substitution is commonly used to determine the limit of a linear function and the limit of a quadratic function. Only a single student employs the attributes of the limit function and graph trajectory to solve these two categories of problems. Researchers can conduct further investigation to examine the misconceptions that students have regarding the limit of functions. These misconceptions can be detected by analysing problems that involve substitution and have solutions that are already known. In senior high school, it is advisable to use graphs and tables to teach the concept of limit function since they aid in facilitating the learning process.

Abstract

Abstrak             Program ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi kendala-kendala dan mencatat kebuntuan sehingga pertentangan (konflik) yang sama tidak akan muncul lagi untuk selanjutnya dengan menganalisis dan menyimpan alasan jalan buntu, dan menggunakannya untuk memandu keputusan doing math masa depan. Satu kendala proses pembelajaran matematika selama ini adalah karena dijalankannya latihan pra-pemrosesan atau tetapi melakukan pencarian mundur. Sementara, kendala baru disajikan dari suatu algoritma yang menemui situasi jalan buntu, atau melalui pendekatan induksi pada saat seharusnya tidak dilakukan. Kendala ini tidak membantu sewaktu strategi kendali mundur digunakan dan tidak akan pernah terulang kembali. Sebaliknya, fakta matematis yang muncul akan bertentangan dengan struktur sistem, sehingga terekam informasi dalam bentuk kendala eksplisit baru. Bahan ajar (modul pembelajaran) yang ada saat ini masih bersifat mandiri, jauh dari skema representasi masalah dan algoritma untuk memecahkannya. Peserta pengabdian adalah guru MGMP Pendidikan Matematika di Kabupaten Mempawah. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dalam tujuh tahap. Hasil kegiatan ini adalah guru MGMP Pendidikan Matematika di Mempawah teramati selalu berhadapan dengan kemampuan penyelesaian masalah. Ternyata, mereka masih harus dibekali agar berkemampuan: representasi, operasionalisasi, menyusun hipotesis-hipotesis alternatif dan prosedur kerja, mengetes hipotesis untuk memperoleh hasilnya, dan memeriksa kembali. Kata kunci: kendala kepuasan; model penanganan; matematika. AbstractThis program aims to explore obstacles and record deadlocks so that similar conflicts will not arise again in the future by analyzing and storing the reasons for deadlocks, and using them to guide future math doing decisions. One obstacle in the mathematics learning process so far is due to carrying out pre-processing exercises or doing backward searches. Meanwhile, new constraints are presented from an algorithm that reaches a deadlock situation, or through an induction approach when it should not be used. This constraint is not helpful when a reverse control strategy is used and will never be repeated. On the other hand, the mathematical facts that emerge will conflict with the structure of the system, so that information is recorded in the form of new explicit constraints. The current teaching materials (learning modules) are still independent, far from problem representation schemes and algorithms for solving them. Service participants are MGMP Mathematics Education teachers in Mempawah Regency. The method for implementing community service activities is carried out in seven stages. The result of this activity was that MGMP Mathematics Education teachers in Mempawah were observed to always be dealing with problem solving abilities. Apparently, they still have to be equipped to be able to: represent, operationalize, develop alternative hypotheses and work procedures, test hypotheses to obtain results, and check again. Keywords: satisfaction constraints; handling model; mathematics.
