Abstract

This study attempts to address existential issues related to self-authenticity in the context of social media. Social media is characterised by existential problems that have the potential to prevent humans from finding their authentic selves. For Heidegger, the authentic self is one that is courageous and capable of being oneself through deep reflection amid the various offers of self-identity that one encounters. Social media has another impact, making it easy for humans to surrender their self-image to digital media algorithms. The problem that arises is the loss of self-integrity between the factual world and the virtual world. The purpose of this study is to expand the constellation of discussions about the authentic self in Heidegger's thinking, particularly in the context of the issue of self-authenticity on social media. To achieve this, this research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method by conducting a literature study that supports the study in this research. The recommendations from the research found that Heidegger's views are relevant to answering the issue of self-authenticity by continuously striving to explore and find existential meaning in real life experiences.

Abstract

Environmental degradation and climate change are serious global issues that threaten human life both today and in the future. In response to these crises, Kohei Saito seeks to investigate the idea of Marx’s eco socialism as a potential alternative. Marx’s ecological thinking is rooted in a critique of the capitalist mode of production, as the fundamental cause of environmental destruction. His criticism of capitalism centers on the idea of a "metabolic rift" between humans and nature. For Marx, the universal metabolism between humanity and the natural world takes place through the labour process. Through labour, humans strive to fulfil their needs by extracting natural materials. However, under capitalism, labour has been reengineered and monopolized solely to serve the purposes of increased production and the commodification of goods for profit. Kohei Saito undertakes a comprehensive investigation into Marx’s ecological ideas as a concrete response to environmental crises and the injustices rooted in capitalism. For Saito, the degradation of the environment can no longer be addressed merely through well-intentioned ecological attitudes or "green" ecological efforts that often conceal new forms of commodification and continue to uphold production processes even in the face of environmental decline. Through his reading of Marx’s ecological critique, Saito uncovers the vision of a post-capitalist society grounded in the concept of degrowth communism. Degrowth communism is Kohei Saito's interpretation of Karl Marx's ecological vision, namely a sustainable social order grounded in the principle of the metabolic relationship between human beings and nature. He argues that such a society represents a crucial and timely alternative one that is capable of responding meaningfully to the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation.

Abstract

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, the intertwined conflict between these two countries has provoked a ripple effect on public discourses across social media. In reality, the dynamics of the public narrative on the internet have provided a chance for political actors to create disinformation. Although Ukraine is the victim of the aggression, Ukrainian media' and politicians' response by constructing public propaganda and distorting the reality sparks various controversies for all social media users and other observers. A qualitative approach was used in this study with a review literature design. This study attempts to identify the main reasons behind the tendency toward Ukraine propaganda by justifying their action to disseminate misleading information and defy the truth in covering this case of an unjust war. Here it shows the fulfilled indicators of logical fallacies which have led the users to illogical sentiment entrenched in their interactions within the media plata form. The contribution of this study is an affirmation of the importance of critical thinking in the science of reason related to media literacy.

Abstract

The postmodern era, as described by Jean-François Lyotard, is characterized by a deep paradigm of relativism, where truth and values are seen not as absolute but contingent upon perspectives and contexts. After World War II, the world was divided into two major ideological forces, Liberalism and Communism, which competed in the Cold War for global dominance. Although, after the Cold War, Liberalism was deemed relevant to the post-conflict world, various debates indicate that this ideology is not fully capable of addressing the challenges posed by relativism in the postmodern era. In this context, this study employs a qualitative approach with a literature review method to explore the relevance of Pancasila as an alternative solution to the complexities of postmodern relativism. The author argues that Pancasila, with its inclusive and universal values, offers an ideology that can provide stability and integration in a society that is increasingly plural and fragmented.

Abstract

Abstract

Low financial literacy in rural communities can potentially leave households vulnerable to being trapped in informal lending practices such as mobile banks or emok banks, leading to a prolonged cycle of debt. This phenomenon is also experienced by several housewives in Cikembang Village, West Java. Most housewives in Cikembang Village play a strategic role in family financial management, but they still have limited understanding of financial planning, debt management, and the use of formal financial services. It is not uncommon for some families to experience financial crises due to being trapped in informal debt due to a lack of financial literacy. This community service program aims to improve the financial literacy of housewives as an effort to prevent debt traps and encourage more sustainable family economic management. The implementation method is an educational-participatory model through stages of socialization, training, participatory discussions, and mentoring in preparing household budgets. Evaluation is conducted through pre- and post-tests to measure participants' understanding. The results of the activity indicate an increased understanding of financial planning, debt management, and awareness of the risks of informal loans. In addition, participants demonstrated changes and new awareness in making more rational economic decisions oriented towards family economic sustainability. This program contributes to strengthening household economic capacity and supports efforts to prevent risky debt practices in rural communities.
