Abstract

Abstract. Thinking skills is strongly influenced by the working of brain. The brain is the center of all activities including thinking. Therefore, the learning that regard and develop brain potential to develop high order thinking skills in students is required. The reason to do this research is because the lack of training given to students in optimizing the ability of their brain in thinking, which generally use the lower order thinking such as remembering and memorizing. The use of Brain-Based Learning (BBL) strategy will be an opportunity for students to develop their thinking skills for their cognitive achievement. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of BBL strategy to metacognitive skills of biology students in Borneo Tarakan University. This is quasi experiment research with pretest-posttest control group design. Population in this research is all of biology students who program Cell Biology course. Students of A and B class are the sample of this research. Data analysis used is descriptive and inferential statistic technique. The results showed that BBL strategy is more effective influencing metacognitive skills compared with multistrategy. The average score in the class with BBL is 51.81 higher than the average score on the class taught with multistrategy that is 41.94.Keywords: Brain-Based learning, thinking skills, metacognitive.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran Learning on Delivery (LEADER) secara tepat dan benar, mengetahui kelayakan model dan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model berdasarkan validasi ahli, tanggapan guru dan siswa, serta implementasi uji. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian pengembangan (R & D) ADDIE yang dikembangkan oleh Dick & Carry. Tahapan model terdiri dari Analisis, Desain, Pengembangan, Implementasi, dan Evaluasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa validasi ahli model pembelajaran adalah 72,2% dengan kategori cukup valid. Analisis dari seorang ahli pembelajaran diperoleh 78,9% dengan kategori sangat valid. Hasil uji coba di sekolah diperoleh skor 29 dengan kategori rendah. Secara keseluruhan, skor validasi yang diperoleh adalah 81,5 yang bisa masuk kategori layak.

Abstract

Secara tidak langsung, terdapat hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu. Siswa yang menguasai kemampuan literasi sains umumnya memiliki rasa ingin tahu yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu siswa, khususnya pada materi ekosistem. Penelitian dilaksanakan di SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan dengan sampel sebanyak 36 siswa yang berada pada kelas XI IPA. Sampel dalam penelitian ini dipilih dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan uji korelasi product momen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 53% siswa memiliki kemampuan literasi sains. Sedangkan rasa ingin tahu siswa berada pada kategori tinggi dengan jumlah persentase siswa sebanyak 78%. Selanjutnya, pengujian terhadap hubungan kedua aspek tersebut menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara literasi sains dan rasa ingin tahu dengan nilai korelasi 0.424. Berdasarkan nilai tersebut dapat disimpulkan behwa terdapat hubungan antara literasi sain dan rasa ingin tahu siswa. Correlation Between Science Literacy and Student Curiosity on Ecosistem TopicAbstractThere are correlation between science literacy and students’ curiosity indirectly. Students who have view in science literacy usually have high curiosity. Therefore, this research has been done to find out the correlation between science literacy and students/ curiosity, especially in ecosystem topic. The study was done at SMA Negeri 3 Tarakan and the sample are 36 eleventh grade students of IPA. Sample of this research was selected using simple random sampling. The data that has been collected was then analyzed using product moment correlation. The result showed that there are 53% of students have view in science literacy. Meanwhile, there are 78% of students have high curiosity. After that, the test on correlation between those two aspects showed that there are correlation between science literacy and curiosity with correllation coeficient 0.424. It can be concluded that there are correlation between science literacy and students’ curiosity.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas X masa pandemi covid-19 pada mata pelajaran Biologi di SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan menggunakan NOSLiT. Metode penelitian menggunakan deskripsi kualitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu siswa SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan kelas X MIPA dengan penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh berdasarkan hasil tes NOSLiT dalam bentuk pilihan ganda dan benar-salah. Hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai rata-rata persentase kemampuan literasi sains siswa sebesar 46,11% dari 110 siswa. Kemampuan literasi sains pada indikator penamaan ilmiah dengan nilai persentase 38,70%, pada indikator kemampuan keterampilan proses dengan nilai persentase 32,27%, pada indikator kaidah bukti saintifik dengan nilai persentase 61,69%, pada indikator postulat sains dengan nilai persentase 55%, pada indikator disposisi ilmiah dengan nilai persentase 51,27% dan pada indikator miskonsepsi utama tentang sains dengan nilai persentase 37,73%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis data, dapat diketahui bahwa kemampuan literasi sains siswa kelas X MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan tergolong rendah dengan nilai rata-rata persentase sebesar 46,11%. Kata Kunci:Analisis, Literasi sains, NOSLiTAbstractThis study aimed to analyze the scientific literacy skills of the tenth grade students during the Covid-19 pandemic in Biology subject at the SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan using NOSLiT. The research used a qualitative description method. The research subjects were the tenth grade MIPA students of the SMA Negeri I Tarakan, determined through a purposive sampling techmque. The data obtained from the results of the NOSLiT test was in the form of multiple choice and true-false. The results showed that the average percentage of students' scientific literacy skills was 46.11% of 110 students. Scientific literacy ability on the scientific naming indicator with a percentage value of 38.70%, on the process skill ability indicator with a percentage value of 32.27%, on the scientific evidence rule indicator with a percentage value of 61.69%, on the science postulate indicator with a percentage value of 55% , on the scientific disposition indicator with a percentage value of 51.27%, and on the main misconceptions about science indicator with a percentage value of 37.73%. Based on the results, it could be seen that the scientific literacy ability ofthe students was low with an average percentage value of 46.11%.Keywords:Analysis, scientific literacy, NOSLiT

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bermaksud menjawab dua pertanyaan terkait soal penilaian akhir semester biologi kelas X berdasarkan taksonomi anderson di SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan. Pertama, bagaimanakah persebaran soal penilaian akhir semester kelas X pada mata pelajaran biologi berdasarkan dimensi pengetahuan taksonomi Anderson? Kedua, bagaimanakah persebaran soal penilaian akhir semester kelas X pada mata pelajaran biologi berdasarkan dimensi proses kognitif taksonomi Anderson?. Skripsi ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan desain penelitian menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus. Subjek penelitian adalah guru dan objek penelitian berupa soal kelas X semester genap pada mata pelajaran Biologi tahun ajaran 2019/2020 yang terdiri dari 10 soal pilihan ganda, 5 soal isian singkat dan 2 soal essay. Data diperoleh berdasarkan hasil wawancara guru mata pelajaran dan analisis secara kualitatif berdasarkan sebaran dimensi Taksonomi Anderson pada soal penilaian akhir semester genap mata pelajaran Biologi kelas X tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Hasil dari penelitian ini penulis menyimpulkan bahwa: pertama, Pada dimensi pengetahuan soal masih didominasi oleh pengetahuan faktual sebanyak  64,7% dan konseptual sebanyak 35,3% dan tidak terdapat soal yang dapat mengukur pengetahuan prosedural dan metakognitif. Kedua, berdasarkan dimensi proses kognitif soal didominasi oleh soal pada level C1 yaitu 64,7%, soal pada level C2 sebanyak 23,5%, soal pada level C3 sebanyak 5,9% dan C4 sebanyak 5,9%. Tidak ditemukan soal pada level C5 dan C6 pada soal penilaian akhir semester genap kelas X di SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan. Dengan demikian dalam penyusunan soal sebaiknya memperhatikan komposisi soal berdasarkan dimensi taksonomi anderson agar peserta didik mendapatkan alat evaluasi yang lebih baik.  Kata KunciDimensi pengetahuan, dimensi proses kognitif, Taksonomi Anderson, soal penilaian akhir semester AbstractThis study aimed was to find the two questions towards final semester test items referring to Anderson Taxonomy on Biology class of tenth grade at SMA NEGERI 1 TARAKAN. First, how is the distribution of final semester test items for tenth grade on biology class referring to the dimensions of Anderson’s taxonomic knowledge?. Second, how is the distribution of final semester test items for tenth grade on biology class referring to Anderson taxonomic cognitive processes’ dimensions?. This research was a descriptive study with a case study research desain. The research subject were teachers of Biology and final semester test items for tenth grade on biology class academic year 2019/2020. The test item presented 10 multiple choice questions, 5 short answer questions, and 2 essay questions. The data was gained from the interview result and qualitative analysis of the distribution of Anderson’s Taxonomy dimensions in the final even semester test items of the tenth grade on biology class academic year 2019/2020. The result showed that academic questions’ dimensions are still dominated by factual knowledge with 64,7% and conceptual understanding as much as 35,3%, and there are no questions that can measure procedural and metacognitive knowledge. The cognitive process dimensions were dominated by test item at the C1 level, namely 64,7% item and followed by C2 level with 23,5%, while the test item on C3 and C4 level contributed each 5,9%, and C4 tess item. C5 and C6 level was not found in the final even semester test items of tenth grade at SMA Negeri 1 Tarakan. Thus, the teacher needs to pay considerable attention to the composition of the test items referring to Anderson’s taxonomic dimensions to find a satisfactory evaluation tool.  Keywords : Anderson’s Taxonomy, cognitive process dimension, final semester test items, knowledge dimension,

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan Handout Bermuatan Pendidikan Karakter Berbasis Kontekstual Pada Materi Kingdom Plantae di Kelas X SMAK Frater Don Bosco Tarakan yang berkualitas dari segi kelayakan dan respon siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian Research and Development (RD) dengan menggunakan model pengemmbangan 4-D yang terdiri dari 4 tahap  yaitu Define, Design,  Development, Disseminate. Akan tetapi, pada pengembangan ini hanya dilakukan sampai tahap ke 3 yaitu tahap Development. Data penelitian dianalisis melalui uji kelayakan dan respon siswa. Pengujian produk dilakukan oleh validator ahli media, ahli materi, dan praktisi (guru biologi). Uji coba lapangan dilakukan secara online melalui google formulir yang dibagikan pada siswa SMAK Frater Don Bosco Tarakan kelas XI IPA dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 30 orang. Hasil validasi yang diperoleh dari ahli media sebesar 89% dengan kategori sangat layak, ahli materi sebesar 96% dengan kategori sangat layak, praktisi sebesar 94% dengan kategori sangat layak dan respon siswa sebesar 87% dengan kategori sangat menarik. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa Handout Bermuatan Pendidikan Karakter Berbasis Kontekstual Pada Materi Kingdom Plantae yang dikembangkan telah memenuhi kriteria kualitas bahan ajar yang baik dan layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran biologi di sekolah.Kata Kunci: Bahan Ajar, Handout, Pendidikan karakter, Kontekstual.Abstract This study aimed to produce high quality handouts with contextual-based character education on Kingdom Plantae Material for tenth Grade Students of SMAK Frater Don Bosco Tarakan in terms of student eligibility and response. This Research and Development (RD) study used a 4-D development model consisting of 4 stages, namely Define, Design, Development was only carried out until the 3 rd  stage (Deveopment stage). The research data were analyzed through feasibility test and student responses. Product testing was validated by media expert, material experts, and practitioners (biology tearchers). Field trials were carried out online via a google form which was distributed to a total of 30 students. The validations result obtained from media experts were 89% which meant very feasible, 96% from material experts meaning feasible, 94% from practitioners meaning very feasible, 87% from student response meaning very interesting. It could be concluded that the handout with Contextual-Based Character Education on the Kingdom Plantae material developed met the criteria for good quality teaching materials and was suittable for use in learning biology in the school.                                                                                                                  Keywords:  Teaching Materials, Handouts, Character education, Contextual.

Abstract

Abstract : This research aimed to figure out the influence of Learn On Delivery (Leader) learning model on biology learning outcomes of Grade X students at SMA Muhammadiyah Boarding School Tarakan. The research employing Quasi Experimental method with a Non Equivalent Control Group Design was conducted in March for two meetings with the samples of X mia 1 (experimental class) and X mia 2 (control class). The data were collected using observations, formative tests in the form of 30 multiple choice questions, and documentation. The normality test shows tha significance value was 0.05, meaning that the samples were normally distributed. The homogeneity tests shows the value of 0.185 and 0.140 (sig 0.05), meaning that the data is homogeneous. The research results based on the Analysis of Covariance (anacova) show that Learning On Delivery (Leader) learning model which influenced learning outcomes was feasible seen from the sig value of 0.000 ( 0.05) with F value of 46.981 (corrected model) in the table (tests of between-subjects effects) with the significant value of 0.000 (p0.05), meaning that H0 was rejected. The role of “covariates” is determining the class average differences could be seen from pretest scores in which the significance value was 0.166 ( 0.05). Thus, in this anacova model, the role of covariate in pretest was not significant. Keywords : learning model, Learn On Delivery (Leader), Learning outcomes

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to look at students' perceptions of online learning media in Biology subjects at MAN Tarakan. This type of research is a survey research with a qualitative descriptive method. The population in this study was 200 students with a total sample of 66 students. Overall data was obtained based on scores and answers from student perception questionnaires distributed online via Google form. The results showed that students' perceptions of the use of learning media in the network system (Online) in Biology subjects at MAN Tarakan students had good perceptions of the platform as learning media in the network system (Online) in Biology subjects. Keywords: Perception, Media, Online.

Abstract

Abstract: The teaching and learning process in school needs to emphasize the contextual aspect to know the relation between material and life around. One of the media that can be used is herbarium and terrarium. This program provides understanding and training of herbarium and terrarium-making techniques to teachers to be used in the learning process in the classroom, especially in the early classes. This program's result includes: the average of plant identification skill's teacher before the program was 34.5 and after implementation of the program was 85.4. Based on the result of the ability of teacher of making herbarium, the highest score on the aspect of "active involvement in the activity" with an average was 86.5, while the lowest score on the aspect of "making conclusion according to result" with an average was 79, 5. The highest result of the average herbarium product is the completeness of the plant organ, and the completeness of the herbarium with an average value was 100. The lowest value is on the layout of the herbarium, with an average value was 84. In the terrarium making, the results obtained very well, the highest yield on the aspect of the planting media composition, the container's suitability, and the life span of the plant with a value was 100. Keywords : Herbarium, Terrarium, Media

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze trends in Biology Education research for a decade (2011-2020) at the University of Borneo Tarakan. This literature study research used a quantitative approach. The subject in this study was the undergraduate theses of biology education students in 2011-2020 who submitted to the UBT library. The trend was seen from the dimensions of the approach used, the research method, the field of research, and the research sample. The collected theses were based on the data collected from the library, namely 315 theses. The results showed that the quantitative approach had a significant value compared to other approaches with a percentage value of 53%, followed by a combination approach of 37% and a qualitative approach of 10%. Furthermore, based on the fields used, it was found that 84% were in the field of biology education, and 16% were in pure biology. Meanwhile, when viewed from the type/research method, the quasi-experiment and RD with samples were widely used by biology education students at the junior and senior high school levels. Keywords: research trend, approach, type/method, sample
