Abstract

PISA defines the definition of scientific literacy as the ability to use scientific knowledge, identify problems, and draw conclusions based on evidence, in order to understand and make decisions about nature and the changes that occur in nature as a result of human activities (Rustaman, 2006; New South Wales Department of Education and Communities, 2011; Gormally et al., 2012). Students as prospective biology teachers must have good scientific literacy. This scientific literacy must be possessed by prospective biology teacher students for better learning for future generations. This study aims to determine the profile of understanding the scientific literacy of prospective biology teachers at the University of Borneo Tarakan. The research method used is descriptive with a quantitative descriptive approach, because the research conducted describes the scientific literacy profile of prospective biology teachers at Borneo Tarakan University. The sampling technique used is random sampling. Descriptive research is a research that describes according to the facts that exist about a natural thing (Sukmadinata, 2011). Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the percentage of good scores contained in the indicators identifies scientific opinions that are valid 70%, and effective literature searches 74.4%. There is enough percentage on the indicator to understand and interpret basic statistics with a value of 54.4%. And indicators 3, 5, 6, and aim are classified as very less. The average score of scientific literacy for all indicators is 49.71% with a very poor category. Keywords:  profile, science literacy, teacher candidate, biology.

Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia is a country that is very rich in biodiversity which has approximately 3000 plant species that have the potential to contain bioactive compounds. One of the areas where many plants are found, namely the city of Tarakan, such as the family of plants found in the Lunto rice fields and nursery forests, namely the Fabaceae family which includes Putri Malu, Daun Duduk, Kembang Telang, Kupu-Kupu and Ketepeng Cina. In this study, the method used was histochemical test of Vanillin 4% - concentrated HCL, concentrated H2SO4 for identification of flavonoid compounds, concentrated CH3COOH and concentrated H2SO4 for identification of steroid compounds. This test was conducted to identify flavonoid and steroid compounds in each part of the leaf, stem, and root organs. The results of this study concluded that only the stem organs of the Kupu-Kupu plant were negative for flavonoid compounds and steroids as tested for ethanol extract. In this research, the potential to be implemented in biology learning is in the form of a Lesson Plan (RPP), Practical Guide, and Teaching Materials for KD 2.2 Structure and Function of Plant and Animal Tissues. Keywords: Fabaceae, Histochemical Test, Biology Learning

Abstract

Bahan ajar merupakan segala sesuatu yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh mahasiswa dalam memperoleh informasi dan tersusun secara sistematis. Bahan ajar dapat membantu mahasiswa dalam mencapai kompetensi suatu materi pembelajaran, ternasuk materi pada kelompok matakuliah bidang tumbuhan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui preferensi kebutuhan bahan ajar mahasiswa biologi pada kelompok matakuliah bidang tumbuhan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualititaif dengan metode survei. pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan instrumen berupa lembar wawancara dan angket. Selanjutnya, data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif. Preferensi kebutuhan bahan ajar mahasiswa biologi yang diperoleh berdasarkan hasil analisis data yaitu handout dengan persentase 42,6% dan modul 33,3% dari total mahasiswa yang memberi jawaban. Selebihnya menjawab video animasi, multimedia, dan komik. Handout dan modul sebagai preferensi bahan ajar utama yang diharapkan oleh mahsiswa pada kelompok matakuliah bidang tumbuhan hendaknya disesuaikan dengan beberapa kriteria seperti bersifat kontekstual, memuat data penelitian terbaru/ praktikum, memiliki banyak gambar, penjelasan lebih sederhana, dan desain yang menarik. Dengan kriteria bahan ajar tersebut, diharapkan mahasiswa memperoleh alternatif bahan ajar yang dapat mempermudah mempelajari materi pada kelompok matakuliah bidang tumbuhan. Dosen pengampu kelompok matakuliah bidang tumbuhan dapat menjadikan data ini sebagai rujukan dalam pengembangan bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan preferensi mahasiswa di pendidikan biologi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kemampuan TPCK (Technological Pedagogical  Content Knowledge) pada guru Biologi SMA/MA selama pembelajaran daring di Kota Tarakan. Metode penelitian berupa survey dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian yaitu 8 guru Biologi SMA/MA di Kota Tarakan dengan penentuan sampel menggunakan teknik cluster sampling. Data diperoleh berdasarkan hasil kuesioner tertutup dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian didapatkan nilai rata-rata persentase kemampuan Technological Knowledge (TK) guru Biologi sebesar 57,8%, Pedagogical Knowledge (PK) guru Biologi sebesar 65,6%, dan Content Knowledge (CK) guru Biologi sebesar 67,1%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dari analisis data, dapat diketahui bahwa kemampuan Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPCK) guru Biologi SMA/MA selama pembelajaran daring di Kota Tarakan tergolong baik.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that has a diversity of plants scattered in various tropical forests such as nursery forests and luntoh rice fields. Kroton (Codiaeum variegatum) and Patikan kebo (Euphorbia hirta L) are plant species belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family that are found in nursery forests and luntoh rice fields. The tests used in this study were histochemical tests with 5% CuSO4 reagents and glycerin, and ethanol extraction tests with concentrated HCl and concentrated H2SO4 reagents. This test is used to identify terpenoid compounds in root, stem, and leaf organs. The results of the study showed that from two plant species of the Euphorbiaceae family, there were organs containing terpenoid compounds which were scattered in various organs of roots, stems, and leaves. In the Croton plant species (Codiaeum variegatum), the organs containing terpenoid compounds are in the roots and leaves. In the Patikan kebo plant species (Euphorbia hirta L), the part of the organ containing terpenoid compounds is in the leaf. Abstract

Pembelajaran merupakan proses yang melibatkan peserta didik dan pendidik dalam sebuah lingkungan belajar. Proses tersebut adalah kegiatan yang sudah direncanakan oleh pendidik untuk membelajarkan peserta didiknya melalui sebuah model dengan memanfatkan media maupun sumber belajar yang bervariasi. Berdasarkan hasil observasi dan wawancara yang dilakukan dengan guru IPA di SMP Negeri 8 Tarakan, hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas VIII.5 masih rendah. Upaya yang dilakukan oleh peneliti untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik adalah dengan merancang pembelajaran yang mampu mengaktifkan proses-proses kognisi peserta didik dengan baik. Perencanaan pembelajaran secara utuh dapat dilakukan dengan penerapan model pembelajaran tertentu secara tepat, salah satunya dengan model PBL  (Problem Based Learning). Tujuan dari penelitian iniyaitu untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada mata pelajatran IPA kelas VIII5 SMPN 8 Tarakan melalui penerapan model PBL. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah observasi dan tes. Data yang dikumpulkan adalah data tentang hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Analisis deskriptif komparatif adalah membandingkan data nilai pretest dan posstest pada siklus I dan siklus II. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa dari siklus I sebesar 73,33% menjadi 90% pada siklus II dengan model pembelajaran PBL. Kata kunciHasil belajar, Kognitif , PBL.

Abstract

Mahasiswa merupakan kumpulan individu dengan berbagai karakter. Salah satu karakter yang bisa dibedakan adalah gaya belajarnya. Gaya belajar merupakan kebiasaan belajar yang disenangi oleh mahasiswa untuk mempermudah mempelajari topik perkuliahan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui kecenderungan gaya belajar mahasiswa baru jurudan Pendidikan biologi FKIP UBT agar dosen dapat memfasilitasi dengan baik kebutuhan belajar mahasiswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan angket gaya belajar sebagai instrument penelitian. Hasil analisis data menujukkan bahwa persentase gaya belajar visual (46,67%), auditorial (30%), kinestetik (8,33%), visual-auditorial (11,67), dan visual kinestetik (3,33%). Abstract

Science literacy learning is very important for students to be able to apply science in everyday life. This study aims to analyses the application of science literacy-based learning by state school teachers in Tarakan City. The research method used qualitative with a descriptive approach. The research subjects were seven state high school of Biology teachers with sampling using purposive sampling technique. Dataobtained based on the results of questionnaires and interviews. The results of the research on aspects of scientific knowledge showed that all teachers can distinguish terms in science literacy learning and on aspects of skills, intellectual processes in indicators of generating principles through induction showed all teachers could explain the phenomenon of observation. On the indicator of identifying and controlling variables showed that two teachers experienced problems in identifying and controlling variables and five other teachers could identify and control variables. The indicator of constructing graphs and finding relationships, it showed that all can transform data into tables/graphs, in the indicator of designing and leading investigations, it showed that three teachers did not design themselves, three other teachers design themselves and one other teacher sometimes designs himself and sometimes, they did not design themselves the steps of the practicum, in the indicator of using technology. The results also showed that one teacher did not utilize laboratory equipment and technology and six other teachers utilized equipment and technology in making observations and in the indicator of drawing conclusions from the facts showed that all teachers made conclusions based on facts obtained from observations.

Abstract

The mangrove ecosystem area of Tarakan City has a wide variety of flora and fauna where the dominant group is invertebrate fauna such as snails and crabs, one type of crab in the mangrove ecosystem is the Violin Crab (Uca sp). This type  of  research  is  an  exploratory  descriptive  study  with  a  quantitative  and qualitative. Based on the results of the distribution analysis of the Violin Crab (Uca sp) the distribution percentage value was categorized as group except for Uca vocans which was categorized as normal. Station II, the residential area of Lingkas Ujung, Uca demani, Uca tetragonon, Uca chlorophthalmus crassipes, the percentage distribution is categorized in groups. For the results of the abundance of violin crabs (Uca sp) which has a relatively high relative abundance of species at station I, Uca demani 69.41% is categorized as the highest and Uca vocans 0% is categorized as the lowest and lowest. Station II in the Lingkas Ujung Uca residential area with 79.58% categorized as the highest and Uca chlorophthalmus crassipes 9.54% categorized as the lowest. Finally, for the results of the analysis of the relationship between research and Biology learning regarding violin crab research related to the syllabus for high school biology subjects, namely basic competencies 3.2 Analyzing various levels of biodiversity in Indonesia and their threats and conservation and 4.2 Presenting the results of observations of various levels of biodiversity in Indonesia.

Abstract

Problem solving and creativity skills are very important skills for students to face global challenges. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Hybrid project-based learning (HPBL) learning model on students' problem-solving skills and creativity. This research used a pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The experiment was conducted March to October 2022. The essay test of problem-solving and creativity was applied to measure students' problem-solving skills and creativity. Data collection in this study was carried out using Google Form, Google Classroom, Google meet, and WhatsApp. Data analysis using SPSS version 23 software. The analysis of covariate (ANCOVA) analysis results showed that HPBL affected problem-solving skills and student creativity with a value of p<0.005. The least significant difference (LSD) result was significantly different in improving problem-solving skills and creativity. The HPBL class gained the highest posttest score. Therefore, HPBL could be applicable to improve problem-solving skills and student creativity.
