Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penggunaan video talk show berbahasa Inggris di YouTube terhadap kemampuan menyimak siswa kelas 8 SMPN 5 Cilegon. Desain penelitian kuantitatif yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian eksperimen, dengan sampel terdiri dari 30 siswa di kelas eksperimen dan 30 siswa di kelas kontrol. Peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kuasi-eksperimen untuk pengumpulan data. Berdasarkan temuan, terdapat perbedaan antara kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan video talk show berbahasa Inggris sebagai media pembelajaran dan kelas kontrol yang menerima pengajaran konvensional. Efektivitas pembelajaran di kelas eksperimen lebih nyata dibandingkan dengan kelas kontrol. Peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa penggunaan video talk show berbahasa Inggris di YouTube dalam proses pembelajaran menunjukkan efektivitas dalam mengajar siswa kelas 8 SMPN 5 Cilegon pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Uji hipotesis dalam penelitian ini, yang dilakukan menggunakan uji Independent Sample T-test, menunjukkan signifikansi (2-tailed) kurang dari 0,05, sehingga hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Selain itu, nilai effect size sebesar 1,215 menunjukkan tingkat pengaruh yang tinggi. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan video talk show berbahasa Inggris di YouTube sebagai media pembelajaran memiliki dampak positif terhadap efektivitas belajar siswa di kelas, dan penggunaan YouTube: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon direkomendasikan sebagai media pengajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menyimak siswa. _________________________________________________________________________________ This research aim to determine of effectivenes of using English talk show video on Youtube towards students listening skills at 8th grade students of SMPN 5 Cilegon. The quantitative research design used in this study is an experimental research method, with sample comprising 30 students in experimental class and 30 students in the control class. The researcher employed a quasi-experimental appoarch for data collection. Based on the findings, there were differences between experimental class were the class that uses English talk show videos as a learning media and the control class which received conventional instruction.  The effectiveness of learning in the experimental class was more evident compared to the control class. The researcher concluded that the use of English talk show videos on YouTube in the learning process demonstrated effectiveness in teaching eighth-grade students at SMPN 5 Cilegon during the 2023/2024 academic year. The hypothesis test in this study, conducted using an Independent Sample T-test, showed a significance (2-tailed) of less than 0.05, leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis (Ho) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Additionally, the effect size of 1.215 indicated a high level of impact. This demonstrates that the use of English talk show videos on YouTube as a learning medium had a positive effect on students' learning effectiveness in class and the use o YouTube: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in the classroom is recommended as a teaching medium for students listening skills.

Abstract

The study investigated the pronunciation errors made by seventh-grade students at SMP PGRI Walantaka Serang specifically on fricatives and affricates sounds. The research used qualitative methodology with case study as the research design, and the sample of this research was class VII with a total of 25 students as the participants. The data collecting technique used in this research was observation, interview, and documentation. The errors found were misformation errors with the presentation of 77,77% of total errors that students made, followed by addition with 11,11%, omission errors with 7,40%, and the lowest error was misordering error with 3,70%. The source of errors was because of the involvement of students’ native language and accents, challenges in adopting English pronunciation, insufficient facility, lack of teachers, and students’ learning styles, and teacher’s inaccuracy in communicating the subject. The researcher concludes that students struggle with pronunciation, specifically fricatives and affricates.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out how are the perception of students regarding to the use of role play technique in learning speaking skills and also what are strengths and weaknesses of it according to students’ perception at SMP Negeri 1 Kelapa Dua, Tangerang. The objectives of the research were to comprehend about how are the perception of students regarding to the use of role play technique in learning speaking skills and also to find out about what are strengths and weaknesses of using role play technique in learning speaking skills according to students’ perception. The research employed a case study method. The data were collected by observation, questionnaire, and interview. The results of the research showed that it helped them in English Vocabulary, English Grammar, English Comprehension, English Pronunciation, and also their English fluency. Moreover, it was more fun and helped them to cultivate their knowledge, made them interested and more enthusiastic, more optimistic, more motivated, taught them about teamwork, involved them directly, and more active. However, it still made them shy and afraid when playing roles. It is also proven to be efficient as a technique in learning speaking skills, but less effective in fostering their self-confidence.

Abstract

This study aims to find the eleventh-grade students' positive perspectives concerning the use of the project-based learning model in teaching writing analytical exposition text. To reach its aims, this study employs a qualitative descriptive strategy using a case study technique. The data was gathered through observation and questionnaires. This study's population consisted of eleventh-grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Baros, a public school in Banten province. This research included 63 students from Classes XI MIPA 3 and XI IPS 4. Per the research findings, 86.12% of them had a better knowledge of the concepts and scope of the topics covered. 79.85% of respondents expressed a stronger desire to improve their English writing skills. The concept of writing analytical exposition texts was better understood by 90.3% of respondents. Aside from that, it achieved an 82.23% average positive responses in critical thinking training. It can be concluded that using the project-based learning model in writing instruction influences motivation and interest in learning, academic competence, critical thinking skills, and student-teacher interaction.

Abstract

The focus of this study was to investigate the difficulties that arise in producing descriptive text for grade X (tenth) students at SMAN 1 Baros Serang. The researchers employ a qualitative descriptive research approach. Data is gathered utilizing three research instruments: observation, interviews, and tests (students’ work). As research participants, 42 students from the X7 class of SMAN 1 Baros were employed. During data analysis, students' writing challenges are identified and divided into writing factors based on Jacobs' theory. Meanwhile, data collection, namely observation, was carried out by collecting tasks, field notes, photos, recordings, and papers. According to the findings, the three major writing difficulty aspects experienced by students are grammar, vocabulary, and mechanism. Students find grammar to be the most difficult aspect of writing a description text, while content is the easiest. According to the data, the factor causing students' difficulties in writing descriptive texts is that they have no much knowledge and any experience about learning English from their previous education, resulting in a lack of knowledge and mastery of vocabulary, as well as students' low motivation to learn English.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how students' perception of the use of game in increasing vocabulary mastery. This research was conducted in SMAN 1 Baros Kab. Serang. A qualitative method was used for this research and there were 30 students in the twelve class as the sample of this research. In collecting the data, this research used a questionnaire, interview, and observation. The findings took the result that most students agree and gave a positive response than the negative one of the uses of game in increasing vocabulary mastery. Game as a media gave the advantages and contribution to both the students to improve vocabulary mastery. 1) This media made the students feel enjoyable in learning English and made the learning process became fun; 2) This media gave a significant impact and increased students' vocabulary mastery and improved their English; 3) Using this media, the students had a chance to improve their English whenever they want to learn it. The conclusion could be taken that the students had positive responses and perceptions in using game as a media for increasing vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Tuberkulosis (TB) merupakan penyakit menular yang disebabkan oleh Mycobacterium tuberculosis, TB paru sampai saat ini masih menjadi masalah utama kesehatan masyarakat dan secara global masih menjadi isu kesehatan global di semua negara. Apabila tidak segera ditangani maka dapat menyebabkan setiap penderita aktif yang menginfeksi. TB paru ini bersifat menahun sehingga seorang penderita TB paru merupakan sumber penyebab penularan TB paru pada populasi di sekitarnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuat peta persebaran penyakit Tuberkulosis di Kabupaten Bulukumba dengan menggunakan aplikasi Sistem Informasi Geographic (SIG). Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif berupa pemetaan penyakit menggunakan aplikasi Sistem Informasi Geographic (SIG) di Kabupaten Bulukumba pada Bulan April – Desember tahun 2020. Hasil penelitian ini disajikan dalam bentuk pemetaan sebaran kasus tuberkulosis dengan menggunakan aplikasi Sistem Informasi Geographic (SIG). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah sebaran kasus terbanyak berada di kecamatan Ujungbulu berturut turut selama tahun 2017-2020.
