Abstract

Simeulue Regency is one of the island regions located in Aceh Province, situated in the Indian Ocean, and is endowed with abundant fishery resources. One of the economically valuable commodities in this area is octopus (Octopus). Local fishermen commonly use artificial bait shaped like crab shells and cake molds, in red, orange, and yellow colors. This study aims to determine the effect of differences in the shape and color of artificial bait on octopus catch rates in the waters of Simeulue. The method used was experimental fishing with a Randomized Block Design (RBD). The results of ANOVA analysis showed that both bait shape and color had a significant effect on octopus catch rates, with F-values of 14.950 for shape and 23.708 for color. The crab shell-shaped bait resulted in higher catch yields compared to the cake mold-shaped bait, and orange was the most effective color among the three. A total of 91 octopuses were caught, with 52 caught using crab shell-shaped bait and 39 with cake mold-shaped bait. These findings suggest that using orange-colored, crab shell-shaped artificial bait can enhance the effectiveness of octopus fishing.

This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method, Data consists of primary and secondary sources including observations, interviews and literature studies, data analysis is arranged in tabular form and will be uploaded to the website. Data from bait shops, which shows that live shrimp is still a favorite bait, for anglers. Factors that influence consumer choices include: product quality, affordable prices, strategic locations, and recommendations from the fishing community. The digital platform is designed using WordPress CMS with four main features: homepage, fishing spots, fishing shops, and bait shops. All data is presented in the form of interactive tables and map visualizations to facilitate information access for users.

Abstract

Panteraja District is a coastal area in Pidie Jaya Regency. Most of the residents work as fishermen. Fish catch plays an important role as a source of income for the local community. The activity of unloading fish catches at the Panteraja Fish Landing Place (TPI) is quite busy, catch data is needed in fishing activities as a basis for planning, development and decision-making or fisheries policies. This study aims to determine the composition of the dominant fish and analyze the length and weight of fish caught at the Panteraja TPI, Pidie Jaya Regency. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The data used are primary data obtained through direct observation and interviews, as well as secondary data obtained from reference sources related to the research. Fish sampling used a simple random sampling system. The number of fish samples is 3 samples per boat that docked at the Panteraja TPI coast. Fish length measurements used a 30 cm ruler, while for measuring the total weight of the fish, the tool used was a digital scale with an accuracy of 0.1 grams. Based on observations and analysis of the catch composition from February to March 2025, the study showed that the fish catch at the Panteraja Fish Farm consisted of 5 families and 7 species with a total weight of 13,278 kg. The percentage value was obtained by comparing the weight per species with the total weight of all species caught at the Panteraja Fish Farm. The species with the highest weight (kg) is the petek fish (Leiognathus brevirostris) with a composition of 5,130 kg or 38.64% of the total catch and the species with the lowest composition is the ribbon fish (Trichiurus lepturus) at 121 kg or 0.91% of the total catch. The relationship between the length and weight of fish caught at TPI Panteraja obtained positive allometric conditions (b>3) and negative (b<3). Skipjack tuna is positively allometric with a b value = 4.0931, while the petek fish, pelaling fish, anchovies, dencis fish, mackerel and ribbon fish are negatively allometric with a b value <3. The relationship between the length and weight of fish is influenced by several factors, such as: differences in species, variations in fish size, sex, gonad development, food availability, parasites, and diseases as well as physiological factors, the environment, sampling procedures and fishing gear used.

Abstract

Aceh has abundant potential resources. One of these potentials is marine and fisheries potential, this is supported by its location at the tip of the island of Sumatra. Aceh has a coastline of 2,817.9 km and a water area of 42,665.67 km2. This study aims to determine how much impact the scarcity of materials has on shipbuilding in Lampulo Banda Aceh, to examine the types of wood in shipbuilding and what alternatives will be used by shipbuilders in the future. This study uses a qualitative methodology with a literature study approach, observation and interviews. The results of the study show that the type of wood and the use of materials for making traditional wooden ships depend on the anatomical conditions that make them up and the chemical composition that affects the mechanical properties of the types of wood commonly used in shipbuilding in Banda Aceh. Making wooden ships in Banda Aceh, precisely in Lampulo, craftsmen use several types of wood, namely: Laban wood (Bak Mane), Giam wood (Bak Thu), Semantuk wood, and Seumawe wood. Where laban wood is used as a ship frame or ship bones and bak thu is used as a ship keel and engine bearings and ship dragons, semantuk wood as a ship bearing and seumawe wood is used as a ship body and ship floor. While other shipbuilders are also the same with the wood used only for the deck or floor used red meranti wood. Wooden shipbuilding in Lampulo, Banda Aceh City, especially to overcome the scarcity of wood in shipbuilding, several alternatives to replace and substitute wood can be considered. The use of steel for ship keels, laminated wood, and composite materials such as fiberglass, are several options explored. In addition, the use of preserved non-commercial wood types can be a solution to wooden shipbuilding in Lampulo, Banda Aceh.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the largest archipelagic country in the world, possesses abundant fisheries resources, including along the coastal areas of Banda Aceh City. Recreational fishing has become an integral part of local culture while also contributing significantly to the local economy. This study aims to identify strategic recreational fishing locations, the types of bait used, and the composition of fish caught by anglers in the region. The research was conducted from April to May 2025 using a purposive sampling method, with data collected from six key fishing spots: Alue Naga Beach, Syiah Kuala Beach, Lampulo Beach, Kampung Jawa Beach, Ulee Lheue Beach, and Krueng Neng River. Data collection methods included direct observation, interviews with recreational fishers, and field documentation. The results show that the most commonly used bait was fresh shrimp due to its availability and high effectiveness in attracting various fish species. Dominant fish species caught included Baby GT (Caranx ignobilis), Snapper (Lutjanus spp.), Grouper (Epinephelus spp.), Tompel (Selaroides leptolepis), and Kerong (Leiognathus spp.). Beyond its recreational value, fishing activities have also created economic opportunities for local communities through the sale of bait, fishing gear, and food products. This study recommends the development of eco-based recreational fishing tourism to support environmental conservation while enhancing local economic welfare.

Abstract

PP Lambada Lhok is one of the most strategic ports in Aceh, located adjacent to the port of Malahayati, PP Lambada Lhok is directly facing WPP 571 and WPP 572, namely the Strait of Malacca and the Indian Ocean. Despite its strategic location, initial observations of PP Lambada Lhok showed that there were deficiencies in facilities that hindered smooth operations, such as the shallowness of the pond which made it difficult for fishing boats to enter and exit and even potentially paralyzed port operations. In addition, the mooring place is not suitable at the dock and there is a TPI other than PP Lambada Lhok. This research aims to see the existing facilities at Lambada Lhok Fishery Port, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province. The results of the research Lambada Lhok fishing port once had the status of a Fish Landing Base (PPI). However, PP Lambada Lhok facilities such as the fish unloading dock, the depth of the port pond and the Fish Auction Place (TPI) need to be improved so that activities at PP Lambada Lhok run normally.
