Abstract

Life insurance agents main role is to achieve sales targets policy. Success in achieving sales target is determined by the traits of the agent (Sutoyo, 2000). Traits can move and direct the person‟s behavior in dealing with other people in the environment (Allport, 1955). The traits that can support the success of agents in marketing insurance products expressed by Sukardi (1991, dalam Riyanti, 2009), which consists of an instrumental trait, the trait of achievement, the trait of social flexibility, hard work trait, self-confidence trait, risk-taking trait, the trait of self-control, innovative trait, and self-reliance trait. The purpose of this study is to describe the nine traits of life insurance agent PT X. Researcher used a quantitative approach, with an inventory of nine traits consist of 90 items. Researcher test the validity with the internal consistency method ( valid 80 items ) as well as reliability testing method with Cronbach alpha, with reliability coefficient of 0575-0789 on 87 agents. Data from 87 agencies were also taken researchers to address issues of research, analysis, and interpretation. Sampling was carried out using non-probability techniques are accidental sampling. The result showed that the dominant traits in life insurance agents are social flexibility trait, self-confidence, hard work, self-control, risk-taking, achivement, and instrumental trait. While the traits are less dominant in the life insurance agent are innovative and self-reliance trait. Keywords: life insurance agent, traits, description of nine traits

Abstract

Education is one of the most important aspects of life for the individual. Education is an effort to realize the active learning process, and education also serves to develop the potential of learners. But in achieving that goal, the individual doesn’t escape from the difficulties or challenges. Basically, every individual has the ability to withstand the challenges / difficulties that are called by adversity quotient. Through research, researchers tried to see if there is a direct relationship between adversity quotient and learning achievement in psychology courses BM University. This study used quantitative research methods and belong to the type of correlational study. Data collection techniques used are AQ questionnaire from Stoltz (2007) and learning achievements obtained from the IP (GPA). The results obtained are no direct relationship between adversity quotient and student learning achievement in psychology courses at UBM with r = .134 (p> .05 ). Students of Psychology Faculty fall into the category Campers because it has tended to have moderate levels of AQ. Gender and age did not show any significant difference to the level of AQ. This study shows that students tend to give up easily and pessimistic when challenges or difficulties growing. Keywords: Adversity Quotient, Learning Achievement, Students

Abstract

Online game is a game that is loved by many people of ages ranging from children to adults. Online games can trigger addiction that can cause effects such as withdrawal, aggressiveness, problems in interpersonal relationships and can even lead to psychological disorders. This study aimed to examine the relationship between online gaming addiction and social skills in early adult game players. The method used is quantitative method and included into the type of correlational research. Respondents in this study is the online game players in the cafe Jakarta Barat, totaling 342 people. The results of this study revealed a significant correlation between addicted to online games and social skills in early adult game players with r = -0367 (p <0.05). Early adult game players have become addicted to the game because it makes online games as an escape from their problems.  Keywords : addicted to online game; social skill;, early adulthood

Abstract

The meaning of life is important and valuable for everyone, including the elderly. The elderly regarded as a period of decline began to occur where the signs of aging , such as wrinkles, graying hair, illness, and so on. In addition to physical changes, the elderly also experience psychological changes, such as less emotionally stable, depression, loneliness, and so on. These things can affect the elderly in meaning life. This study aims to determine how the image of the meaning of life in the elderly living in nursing homes. This study used a qualitative approach with two elderly subjects living in nursing homes X , Jakarta. Data was collected through interviews and observation techniques and the results were analyzed using content analysis. The results of this study are aspects forming of the meaning of life in the elderly are subjective, some interpret his life by linking the religious aspect, but there is also that to make sense of his life by linking the family aspect . Keywords: elderly, meaning of life, the meaning of life aspects

Abstract

Prevalensi perokok di Indonesia setiap tahunnya semakin bertambah, dan 33,03% dari perokok tersebut berada di usia 18-24 tahun yang pada umumnya sedang menuntut ilmu di tingkat universitas. Tentu terdapat alasan dibalik data bahwa sepertiga perokok di Indonesia berada dalam rentang usia mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara stres akademik dengan ketergantungan merokok pada mahasiswa. Stres akademik memiliki 4 dimensi yaitu tekanan untuk berhasil (PTP), persepsi terhadap beban akademik (POW), keyakinan terhadap kemampuan akademik diri (ASP), dan batasan waktu akademik (TR). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif korelasional dengan teknik snowball sampling. Responden penelitian adalah 154 mahasiswa/i di 20 kota di Pulau Jawa yang merupakan perokok aktif selama minimal 1 tahun. Skala yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah The Perception of Academic Stress Scale (α ≥ 0.879; CITC 0.323-0.739) dan Cigarette Dependency Scale-12 (α ≥ 0.901; CITC 0.472-0.754.). Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa stres akademik memiliki hubungan positif yang signifikan terhadap ketergantungan merokok (p < .05; r = 0.323). Seluruh dimensi stres akademik, yaitu PTP, POW, ASP, dan TR memiliki hubungan positif yang signifikan terhadap ketergantungan merokok (p < .05; r = 0.239 | p < .05; r = 0.255 | p < .05; r = 0.187 | p < .05; r = 0.330). Seluruh hipotesis baik mayor maupun minor diterima dan dibuktikan. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah semakin tinggi stres akademik yang dirasakan oleh mahasiswa, maka semakin berat ketergantungan merokok yang dialaminya.

Abstract

College students have various challenges and problems both in academic life and daily life. The students who become scholarship awardees have pressures with academic targets, regulations, and obligations. It also happens in the X Foundation, scholarship awardees become stressed, anxious, depressed, and have destructive behavior.  The challenges faced by college students include self-adaptation, time management, and overthinking planning for further studies and careers in the future. The existence of these problems and challenges causes college students to be less open, pessimistic, hopeless, give up easily, stressed, depressed, and self-harm. Based on these problems, researchers are interested in providing offline training to develop the resilience abilities of student scholarship awardees from X Foundation. From this training collage, students can bounce back in facing difficult situations or problems in daily life. The implementation of the training consists of delivering material, practical activities, reflection, and evaluation. The results of the training showed that there was no significant change in knowledge. However, there is the development of new abilities possessed by college students such as resilience, problem-solving, recognizing self-potential, developing social relations, critical thinking, being proactive, and emotional control that can be applied in daily life.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure the effect of social support on resilience to former drug addict. The hypothesis of this study is there is a positive social support to resilience to former drug addict. The study was conducted 50 former drug addict. This study used quantitative method with a type of correlational research. Date were collected using social support scale and resilience scale. The scale of social support in this study using the MPSS scale by Zimet (1988) and the scale of resilience in this study using the CD-RISC scale by Connor and Davidson (2003). The results showed that there was a positive social support to resilience to former drug addict with results (R = 0,604, p <0,05). This result implied the higher social support received by individual, the higher the resilience that they will have and vice versa.

Abstract

Depression in students who are doing their final assignments is one aspect that must be considered by the university. Depression impacts on the complexity, awareness and behavior of a person. This change is caused by a person's personality character in the face of feeling depressed. The personality character of the Indonesian people is closely related to the collectivist culture, so that extraversion and conformity are the two dimensions of the Big Five Inventory about the ability to relate selected. This research was conducted by taking a random sample of students who have criteria as students who are carrying out their final project (N = 121). Data were collected using an online questionnaire. The results showed that Extraversion affects depression, whereas Agreeableness does not affect depression.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine whether social comparison can moderate the influence between social media addiction to depression in Instagram user. Hypotesis of this study is social comparison can moderate the influence of social media addiction toward depression in Instagram users. This study is a quantitative research and data are collected using depression scale “Beck Depression Inventory Second Edition”, social media modified scale “Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale”, and social comparison scale “Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure”. The scales were spread across 98 subjects. The result show that social comparison can not moderate the influence of social media addiction towards depression (R2 = 0.045; p = 0.912; p > 0.05), because social comparison are not always negative, so social comparison did not strengthen or weaken the influence of social media addiction toward depression in Instagram users

Abstract

Life satisfaction is an aspect that needs to be considered in individuals, especially in first-year students. First year students undergo a transition period of lectures and belong to the group of emerging adults who are in a phase of instability. Some phenomena related to instability experienced by first-year students and are thought to lead to a decrease in life satisfaction. The purpose of this study is to look at the role of emotional intelligence and family dinner rituals on life satisfaction in first-year students. This research uses a quantitative approach with multiple regression tests. The subjects of this study were 332 first-year active students aged 18-21 years in Surabaya. The results of the study showed a significant influence between emotional intelligence and family dinner ritual on life satisfaction with an effective contribution of 9.1% (R2 = 0.091; p <.05). Family dinner rituals contribute more effectively than emotional intelligence.
