Abstract

This research investigates the pivotal role of integrity in the English language teaching (ELT) context of Indonesian universities. It explores the concept of integrity within the classroom, its impact on student learning, and the strategies employed by teachers to cultivate integrity among students. By examining the correlation between teacher integrity and student outcomes, this study aims to underscore the significance of ethical conduct in fostering a conducive learning environment. Findings from this research are expected to provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and curriculum developers in enhancing the quality of English language education in Indonesia

Abstract

The study aims to measure the use of digital media on Google sites which is integrated with case method in English culture in ELT course. It is qualitative research which elaborates the use of digital media Google Sites integrated with cased method in enhancing students™ cultural competence. This research involved 28 students who joined in English Culture in ELT course. Data was collected with observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was done with a descriptive analysis. Research results obtained from the students™ perception regarding the media appearance, material and benefit. The data showed the score 83 for the appearance, 83 for the material presentation and 85 for the benefit of google sites cultural based. Based on this data, the research shows that digital media on google sites (case based) on the English culture in ELT is feasible to enhance students™ cultural competence.keywords: Cultural competence, Digital media, Google site, Case base

Abstract

This study was about the theme, rheme and thematic progression of students‟ recount text of the eight grade at SMP RK Budi Mulia Pematangsiantar. The aim of this study were (1) to investigate thematic progression pattern used (2) to find out the reason why the students used thematic progression in the way they did. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data in this study were clauses of students‟ recount text. The instrument of collecting data was elicitation technique and interview. The data were analyzed by using interactive model technique of Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014). The result of this study were the following, (1) There were two patterns of thematic progression used in students‟ recount text, they were Theme Reteration/Constant Theme Pattern (TR/CTP), and Zig- zag/Linear Theme Pattern (Zig-zag/LTP). (2) The reason in use of thematic progression by students, they were: (a) the student‟s lack of knowledge about use of the thematic progression (b) they also less interested in writing, (c) the students got resources from reading material and (d) the students got resources from english teacher‟s explanation.

Abstract

In 21st-century learning, students must have access to communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving, dan creativity, and innovation, including elementary students. Tynker is a platform for learning programming for kids that teaches them game design, web design, animation, and robotics. The study aimed to develop English teaching material based on the Tynker program to improve the vocabularies of fourth-grade elementary students. The subject of the study was 20 students in fourth grade in Zia Salsabila Private School. The researchers used Research and Development design in this study. The techniques of collecting data were observation, interview, and questionnaire. Furthermore, the researchers analyzed the data using descriptive qualitative and quantitative analysis. The result of the study showed that English teaching material based on the Tynker program improved students' motivation for vocabulary learning. Tynker-based teaching resources can be an alternate learning tool for fourth-grade elementary school pupils, particularly for developing vocabulary. The Tynker Program can help as a tool for learning English, but the researchers recommend using it with the proper learning resources. The teacher can download the Tynker program and develop their lesson plans using some of Tynker's topics. The teacher can use Tynker to give students resources for learning English and assist them in subjects where they feel learning English is difficult or dull.

Abstract

In response to learning revolution, teaching is not only transferring knowledge to students but also it should be conducted by accommodating students' learning styles. By viewing to these two factors, the teaching learning process will be more successful. This study presents the strategies to improve students' speaking skill related to age and learning styles. The teaching strategies were developed by analysing the students' needs, students' wants, and students' lack.
