Abstract

Javan Langur (T. auratus) is well-known as one of endemic primates from Java, Bali and Lombok Islands. The activities of land clearing, vegetation conversing, wild hunting and illegal wildlife trading are the main causes of the extinction of the Javan Langur. It can be used as an important issue for conservation action by making prediction maps of suitable habitat potential, especially for species facing a high risk of extinction in the wild.  We were documenting an information about potential habitat for Javan langur using spatial suitability model in order to provide rigorous information as the basis for conservation activities of Javan langur in TNBTS. We used Landsat-8 TM image and geospatial data to support analysis as a representative of environmental parameters in order to develop the habitat model. We were using maximum entropy (MaxEnt) algorithm refers to Javan langur presence or absence. The results showed that the suitability of the Javan langur habitat in TNBTS has an excellent model accuracy level with an AUC (Area Under the Receiver Operating Characteristics) value of 0.964 and a standard deviation of 0.961. Parameters with the highest response values here are elevation, NDVI (Normalised Difference Vegetation Index) and temperatures.

Abstract

Malang City, located in Java, Indonesia, faces significant anthropogenic pressures but remains an important habitat for the endangered Java sparrow (Lonchura oryzivora). Understanding how Java sparrows adapt to environments with high levels of human activity is essential for their conservation. This study focused on identifying the distribution of Java sparrows and investigating their habitat selection within Malang City. The bird positions were recorded within the tree canopy, and the frequency of canopy use by the birds was determined. Living in the middle of the city impacts the metabolism of birds, as indicated by taking samples and measuring the levels of lead found in their droppings and vegetation used. Encounters near the center of human activity show they can utilize buildings and vegetation they utilize. The Java sparrows predominantly utilize plant parts at the tree level, particularly focusing on the middle canopy part of the edge (TTt) and the middle part (TT). Laboratory tests revealed that the plants utilized by the Java sparrow contain high lead levels. Therefore, to conserve the Java sparrow, it is crucial to improve the quality of their habitat to make it more natural and conduct regular health monitoring to ensure their well-being.

Abstract

Abstract Activities conducted in 2022 within the internal community service program on stingless beekeeping were successfully socialized to women in the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) and established a successful demonstration plot. The community faced challenges with this new breed and lacked understanding of how to harvest bees, making sustainable activities crucial for the future development of a self-sufficient Tretes village. Socialization was conducted with 27 PKK women partners in the honey program to provide additional information. Furthermore, cultivation practices were conducted by experts brought in from urban stingless beekeeping. The stingless bee product design and production were conducted from Pujon Hill. The stingless beekeeping program offers advantages such as ease of implementation and suitable forest habitat. The next focus is increasing capacity, which will eventually yield sufficient yields for sale in bottles. Training is also provided on the process of harvesting stingless bee honey in bottles. The PKK women gained skills in harvesting stingless bee honey. The honey yield from stingless bees is approximately 10-15 ml, which is not as high as that of other bees, so the use of distinctive mini bottles can be used to attract consumers in future product marketing. This activity has been carried out well. Especially in terms of colony expansion, currently there are 6 colloid boxes near the forest and simple packaging containing. Keywords: trigona; bukit pujon; honey; community.

Abstract

The Mount Biru protect forest is still maintained the biodiversity so that it is able to support a variety of animals in it, one of which is a habitat for the release of the javan langurs group (T. auratus). This study aims to determine the daily behavior of the javan langur after rehabilitation and release to evaluate the development of population behavior and barriers in the same group since 2014. The study used a focal animal sampling method combined with scan sampling to observe daily behavior (eating, social, resting, and moving) one female javan langur released in 2014. It was observed that post-release individuals had higher resting activities (38.91%) and the lowest allo-grooming social activities (5.08%). The results of the different test calculations using Chi Square can be concluded that there are significant differences in the daily behavior of the Javan langur after release in 2015, 2019 and 2021.

Abstract

The growing public awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle has driven the rising trend of organic-based product consumption among communities in Malang. This shift has also influenced purchasing decisions, with health considerations emerging as a primary determinant. Consumer purchase decisions and satisfaction, however, are shaped not only by health awareness but also by the marketing strategies implemented by producers. This study aims to examine consumer perceptions of organic vegetables, customer knowledge, socio-cultural influences, product accessibility, value-added attributes, and price factors that affect consumer behavior and determine consumer satisfaction with organic vegetables in Malang City. A mixed-method approach was employed, integrating qualitative techniques through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and literature review with quantitative analysis using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Data were collected through in-depth interviews and surveys using purposive and incidental sampling in Lai Lai Supermarket, Superindo, and several organic vegetable markets in Malang. The research investigated factors including product, price, place, and promotion. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, and SEM-PLS. Findings from the FGDs reveal that consumer knowledge of the health benefits of organic vegetables, social influences, product quality, and perceived high prices significantly shape purchasing decisions. The quantitative analysis confirms that all marketing mix variables exert a significant effect on customer satisfaction, with product and price being the most influential contributors. This study provides theoretical insights into consumer perception and satisfaction related to organic vegetables, and offers practical implications for agribusiness practitioners and stakeholders in developing more effective marketing strategies for organic vegetable products in Malang City.
