Abstract

Background: Oral health is very important, some oral and dental problems occur because we do not maintain oral hygiene and teeth. Plaque is a major etiologic factor of caries and periodontal disease. Efforts to prevent plaque buildup is called plaque control, by mechanical, chemical and natural, mechanical ventilation is a tooth brush. In general, the bristles are soft, moderate, and hard. Aims: This research aims to know the differences using a moderate and hard-bristled toothbrush against plaque. Methods: This is a quasi-experiment with pretest-post-test control group design between the bristles medium and hard bristles using independent test T-test. Conclusion: There is a difference of tooth brushing plaque by using the medium tough and hairbrush medium tough hairbrush and hairy on the students of class VII B and VII C in Public Junior High School 3 Banjarbaru. The use of hard bristled toothbrushes is better 72.22% than the use of medium toothbrushes is only 47.37%. But a hard hairy toothbrush can cause gums to drop (recession gingival) if done continuously.

Abstract

Dental and oral hygiene problem is the leading cause of daily activities disruption in children such as missing school, bad learning concentration, appetite and nutritional intake. Knowledge of dental and oral hygiene should be given at early age in family by the parents. The aim of our work was to determine relationship between parents’ knowledge and dental hygiene of the SDLB children (children with special needs). We undertook this research with analytical survey. A cross-sectional design was carried out. The sampling method was total sampling namely parents of children with special needs and the children as many as 80 people. Chi-Square test was performed to analyze the data. The results show that the knowledge of parents about dental and oral hygiene is not good (85%), while the dental and oral hygiene in children with special needs is poor (85%). Based on the Chi-Square Test, it produces a p-value of sig (2-sided) = 0.002 in the test, so it can obtain a p-value (probability value) from the test (p = 0.002 = 0.05) so that Ho is rejected. In conclusion, a relationship between parental knowledge and oral hygiene in children with special needs does exist.

Abstract

Fluoride content in water consumed by the people of Mekar Sari Village, Tatah Makmur District, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan Province is still below the WHO recommendation and the Ministry of Health of Indonesia. This study aims to determine the differences in the ability of fluoride stones from the peat area - Liang Anggang, Banjar Regency and fluoride stones from Tanah Laut area of South Kalimantan in increasing fluoride content in river water. This type of work is analytical research. The experiments were carried out in river water by means of preliminary treatment until the turbidity is less than 5 NTU. Furthermore, the processed water was re-circulated into a “flour increase portable” device to manipulate the processed water with stones containing fluoride. Variations in research include 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours recirculation; fluoride stones types were from Liang Anggang area and from Tanah Laut. The results show that green stones from Tanah Laut area can increase fluoride content in processed river water to 0.63 mg / l. This means that the ability of this green stone is lower than that of white stone in increasing fluoride content in processed river water.

Abstract

Abstract

The indicator for the degree of dental and oral health in 2010 from WHO for the M (missing) component of DMF-T for 18 years of age was 0, while the 2007 RISKESDAS (Basic Health Research) results for the M (missing) component of 18-year-old DMF-T were 0.47, then RISKESDAS 2013 of 0.45. Although the DMF-T rate was small, the ratio between the filled teeth and the untreated teeth was very large, namely 0.7% of cases handled by dental health personnel. The remaining 62.3% have not been treated and 26.2% have already been revoked. If left unchecked, the teeth will get worse so that the indication for extraction will increase, which in turn will increase the number of missing. The purpose of this study was to describe the missing number of DMF-T in adolescents aged 18 years at Muhammadiyah Martapura Senior High School, Banjar Regency. This research is a descriptive type of research with data processing in the form of data tabulations. The sampling technique was total sampling with a total sample size of 42 students. The results of the study of 42 respondents, the missing number from DMF-T was 38 with an average of 0.90. The missing number (tooth loss) obtained from the TLI (Tooth Lost Index) is 46.9%. In conclusion, the number of missing from DMF-T in adolescents aged 18 years at Muhammadiyah Martapura Senior High School, Banjar Regency is 38 with a TLI of 46.9%, in respondents due to caries. It is suggested for UKS teachers to work together with the Puskesmas to run the UKGS program, and for health workers to provide understanding or knowledge for those who are indicated missing about prosthesis (dentures) which can prevent further consequences of missing. Abstract

One of the problems faced for coloring a health facility, such as the practice room and its instruments, is because the practice room and its instruments have specificity in human services. Those who are served are human beings who need care, service, and healing, both physically and mentally. Such human beings certainly have a special emotional temperament. Therefore, the use of color in this case aims to "help" these service efforts. This study aims to determine the effect of room color on patient anxiety during services at the dental clinic. This type of research is a literature review research. The data used in the literature review research is secondary data that can be obtained from various forms of journals. The secondary data sources use 3 databases, namely: Google Schola, Pubmed, and Science Direct. Journals are searched based on keywords (keywords) and boolean operators (AND, OR, and NOT). The inclusion and exclusion criteria for the literature used the PICOS strategy. The findings of the journal indicate that there is an effect of room color on patient anxiety during services at the dental clinic. The conclusion of the color of a room can affect the emotions of a patient so that the selection of the right color can reduce the anxiety of the patient. As for suggestions for health workers to pay attention to the selection of the right color composition so that psychologically it can calm the patients in the room
