Abstract

The 99 Farm Livestock Group faces challenges in increasing feed production efficiency and occupational safety and health (OHS). These challenges are caused by the use of inefficient and unergonomic grass chopping machines, which pose risks to livestock farmers' safety and increase operational costs. This community service program aims to address these issues by introducing energy-efficient grass chopping machines designed with ergonomic and OHS aspects in mind. This study examines the impact of implementing this technology on livestock farmers' operational efficiency and welfare. The results show a significant increase in the efficiency of the grass chopping process, reduced operational costs, and improved working conditions for livestock farmers. The implementation of this technology is also expected to be an example for other livestock farmers to implement more sustainable and safe practices.

Abstract

The high number of defects in the ironing process at PT XYZ indicates potential ergonomic problems that impact product quality and worker health. This study aims to assess ergonomic risk levels and identify the main causes of musculoskeletal complaints among ironing operators. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) method was used to measure musculoskeletal complaints, the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to assess work posture in detail, and the Quick Exposure Check (QEC) to evaluate ergonomic risk factors comprehensively. The study was conducted on four ironing operators, with primary posture measurements taken from the operator with the most representative posture pattern. The NBM results showed that the majority of workers were in the moderate risk category with dominant complaints in the forearms and wrists. The REBA analysis produced a score of 7, indicating action level 2 and requiring improvement in work posture. Meanwhile, the QEC results showed a very high risk (exposure score ≥ 70%) in all operators, especially in the wrist and shoulder segments. Based on these findings, root causes were identified and grouped into machine, method, human, and environment aspects using a fishbone diagram. Recommendations for improvement include anthropometrically based workbench redesign, adjustments to production targets, improved work methods, and environmental controls. This research provides a basis for ergonomic improvements to reduce the risk of injury and improve the quality of the ironing process at PT XYZ.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) semakin mendesak seiring terbatasnya kapasitas Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA), rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat, dan dampaknya terhadap kesehatan serta lingkungan. Dusun Demen, Desa Pakembinangun, Kecamatan Pakem, Sleman, merupakan salah satu wilayah yang menghadapi permasalahan tersebut. Selain persoalan lingkungan, kondisi ekonomi masyarakat masih tergolong rendah, khususnya di kalangan Karang Taruna. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan Karang Taruna melalui penerapan teknologi tepat guna berupa mesin pencacah plastik hemat energi untuk menghasilkan produk konstruksi ramah lingkungan, seperti paving block. Metode pelaksanaan dilakukan dengan pendekatan partisipatif melalui sosialisasi, pelatihan, implementasi, pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan kapasitas teknis Karang Taruna dalam mengolah sampah plastik, pengurangan volume sampah di dusun Demen, serta terciptanya produk paving block ramah lingkungan dari sampah plastik. Program ini tidak hanya menyelesaikan persoalan lingkungan, tetapi juga meningkatkan aspek sosial-ekonomi masyarakat. Dengan demikian, Dusun Demen berpotensi menjadi model desa mandiri sampah berkelanjutan yang dapat direplikasi di wilayah lain.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan untuk membantu UMKM Makanan XYZ dalam meningkatkan kapasitas produksi dan kualitas produk gethuk goreng madu. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah keterbatasan teknologi produksi, khususnya pada proses penggilingan adonan yang masih dilakukan secara manual sehingga memakan waktu lama, hasil giling tidak seragam, dan menimbulkan kelelahan pekerja. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), perancangan, pembuatan, hingga implementasi mesin penggiling adonan berbasis listrik dengan memperhatikan aspek ergonomi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa mesin penggiling yang dihasilkan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi waktu produksi, kualitas hasil gilingan lebih merata, serta mengurangi beban kerja pekerja. Selain itu, dilakukan pelatihan pengoperasian dan perawatan mesin agar mitra dapat memanfaatkan teknologi secara optimal. Program ini membuktikan bahwa penerapan teknologi tepat guna dapat meningkatkan daya saing UMKM sekaligus mendukung pelestarian kuliner tradisional.
