Abstract

This study aims to examine in depth of the effect of religious counseling towards the religious behavioral adaptation of Indonesian migrant in the Netherlands. The study used a case study of twelve Indonesian Muslim migrants in the Netherlands with male and female sex with a religious counselor taken with purposive sampling techniques. The data collection tool used in this study was by interview and in-depth observation. Data analysis techniques using a model of qualitative data analysis Miles Huberman with data reduction steps, display data and draw conclusions. The result of this study showed that the religious counseling played positive roles in the life of Indonesian Muslim migrants group in the Netherlands. Those roles include community life, relationship with Allah and relationship among Islam people. The findings of this study can be a strategy for the counselor in assisting Muslim migrants in a non-muslim country on the behavioral adaptation

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the level of self-regulated learning (SLR) of students. The research was conducted with a quantitative descriptive method on 300 students at 14 Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools throughout Bantul Regency. The data collection instrument used was a valid and reliable SLR scale, as well as descriptive statistical data analysis with percentages and standard deviation. The results of the study concluded that SRL identification in SMP Muhammadiyah students with high criteria. But even though it has high criteria overall, one school has low criteria because it has access, human resources, and locations that are less relevant to support education. The unequal learning attitudes of students are influenced by human resources as role models, parenting styles, and incoming information. to students about the subject matter. This research can be used by counseling teachers in schools as a basis for developing self-development programs for students.

Abstract

Diversity in Indonesia raises the tolerance problem. The research goal to find guidance and counseling services right to develop character tolerance. Research and development approach used in research. Research and development steps include preliminary study, development hypothetical group guidance model-based folklore, validation of expert judgment and expert practitioners, experimental test form group guidance model-based folklore on a limited basis — descriptive qualitative and descriptive quantitative in research analysis. The findings show Aspects of peace and mutual respect for students in the low category, during the self-awareness of students in the high category. School counselor role in group guidance services for prevention, development, understanding, and distribution of tolerance character. Tolerance characters appear in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor dimensions with indicators of peace, respect for differences and individuals, and awareness. Group guidance model-based folklore methods is the right solution for the internalization of character tolerance trough limited test with indicate that there was a significant change in tolerance level after the experimental analysis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to explore the use of the photovoice methodology to understand students' positive emotion related to their daily activities. Photovoice is an innovative method of participatory action research that enables individuals and communities to use photography and writing to solve various problems. This study included a qualitative analysis of 42 photovoice papers prepared by 15 Guidance and Counseling students The images and thematic analysis reveal the following main themes: religion, learning activities and places and leisure. This study provides evidence that photovoice is a promising method for understanding positive psychological variables of undergraduate  students as a tool for personal empowerment and transformation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out empathy and the form of instilling empathy in prospective counselors. This descriptive quantitative study involved 174 first-semester students of the guidance and counseling department at Ahmad Dahlan University, recruited using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using an empathy scale developed from the IRI Davis scale (1983) and a questionnaire on empathy cultivation patterns which contained statements about the empathy inculcation patterns that students received from their parents or guardians. The data were analyzed descriptively, showing that prospective counselors’ empathy was mostly in the moderate category.   The pattern of inculcation of empathy is given by parents or guardians in the induction pattern. In terms of the empathy cultivation pattern, moral advice was found to be the most frequent means for instilling empathy.  This study highlights the need for developing a counseling strategy that emphasizes moral advice in a fun counseling activity and discussion dynamics that adapts to adolescent development.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of ethnocultural empathy among adolescents from the four major ethnic groups in Indonesia. Participants were thirty-two adolescents studying in the guidance and counseling study program at Ahmad Dahlan University, Yogyakarta, recruited using a purposive sampling technique. They were Javanese, Sundanese, Malay, and Lampung. Data were collected using an ethnocultural empathy scale and analyzed descriptively. Taking a closer look at each component, participants exhibit the highest score in acceptance of cultural differences. Javanese, Malay, and Lampung participants exhibited the lowest emphatic awareness, while Sundanese participants showed the lowest emphatic feeling expression. The result of this study could be taken into account when developing counseling strategies to develop adolescents’ empathy at the university level adapted to the characteristics of their ethnic background.
