Abstract

Nobita Hill, a tourist site in Padang City, is undergoing development as a tourist destination that offers a bird's-eye view of Padang City. Unfortunately, the hilly topography with steep slopes increases the risk of landslides in this area. In order to address the problem, the community service team from the Physics Department of Andalas University has carried out a six-month community service program from July to December 2022. It focused on disaster awareness education and used a qualitative approach. This activity aims to socialize disaster mitigation efforts, especially those related to landslides and earthquakes, considering that Padang City is also prone to earthquakes. The results of this activity showed an increase in the knowledge of the local community after the socialization, but repeated activities are needed to achieve optimal results. This ongoing activity is essential to ensure continuous improvement in the community's understanding of disaster mitigation and to support efforts to make Bukit Nobita a disaster-resilient area. Thus, this activity makes a positive contribution to shaping a safe, sustainable, and disaster-resilient tourism environment.

Abstract

based on soil magnetic susceptibility (MS) analysis in Tonggo Kenagarian Tigo Koto Silungkang area, Palembayan District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. Soil samples were taken from on two slopes, namely Track A and Track B and one reference point. Samples were measured for low frequency MS (χlf) and frequency-dependent MS (χfd). The results showed that χlf and χfd respectively ranged from 183.7 to 435.5 ×10-8 m3kg-1 and 1.2 to 4.6% (Track A), 416.9 to 600.4 ×10-8 m3kg-1 and 0.9 to 2.2% (Track B), and 365.8 to 638.3 ×10-8 m3kg-1 (reference point). The χlf value of sample of each point on Track A is much smaller than the χlf value of sample of the reference point, while the χlf value of sample of each point on Track B is almost close to the χlf value of sample of the reference point. These results indicate that the slopes of Track A experienced more severe erosion than Track B. The distribution of χlf and χfd values for Track A was relatively straight, whereas for Track B the increase in the χlf value was not followed by an increase in the χfd value. These results indicate that Track A experienced anthropogenic disturbance. The slope of Track A has a greater landslide potential than the slope of Track B.

Abstract

A study has been conducted for slope instability analysis based on magnetic susceptibility values ​​in Nagari Sikucur Tengah, Padang Pariaman. Soil sampling was carried out on two tracks from slopes without vegetation (Path A) and slopes with vegetation (Path B) and one reference point. Measurement of magnetic susceptibility values ​​of samples using the Bartington Susceptibility Meter using two frequencies, namely low frequency (lf) and high frequency (hf). Based on the magnetic susceptibility value at low frequency (κlf), it was obtained that the magnetic minerals that control the reference point samples are ferrimagnetic, while samples from Path A and Path B are ferrimagnetic and paramagnetic, but some samples from Path B are ferrimagnetic. The relationship between the κlf value and the depth at the reference point shows a consistent pattern of decreasing values, while Path A and Path B fluctuate and the κlf value at Path A is much smaller than Path B from the reference point. Based on the frequency-dependent susceptibility value κfd, the sample of Path A is dominated by superparamagnetic domains, indicating that the sample has much smaller grains than the sample of Path B. Both slopes have experienced instability, where the slope of Path A has experienced higher instability than the slope of Path B.

Abstract

Nagari Sunua Barat memiliki potensi limbah sabut kelapa hasil perkebunan kelapa yang melimpah. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan kelompok tani di Nagari Sunua Barat melalui pelatihan pengolahan limbah sabut kelapa menjadi cocopeat dan cocofiber, yang lebih memiliki nilai ekonomis dan ramah lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dilakukan oleh tim dari Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam, dimulai dengan tahap perencanaan yang melibatkan mitra kelompok tani untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan dan potensi yang ada pada mitra. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 47 peserta yang berasal dari kelompok tani dan masyarakat yang ada di Nagari Sunua Barat. Peserta diajarkan tentang pengelolaan sampah limbah sabut kelapa, yang dimanfaatkan menjadi cocopeat dan cocofiber. Metode yang digunakan meliputi demonstrasi, praktik langsung, dan diskusi interaktif. Hasil dari kegiatan menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dari peserta. Sebagian besar mampu memahami dan mempraktikkan teknik yang diajarkan, dengan beberapa peserta mulai memproduksi cocopeat dan cocofiber untuk keperluan pribadi maupun komersial. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya pengelolaan limbah yang berkelanjutan serta memberikan peluang ekonomi baru bagi kelompok tani. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi langkah awal untuk menjadikan Nagari Sunua Barat sebagai sentra pengolahan limbah sabut kelapa, sekaligus mendorong terciptanya masyarakat yang lebih peduli lingkungan dan mandiri secara ekonomi

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the management of public services at the Maria Village Office, Wawo Sub-district, Bima Regency, with a focus on the application of the principles of public services that are simple, efficient, convenient, and in accordance with statutory provisions. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, data was collected through interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that public services in Maria Village have reflected the principle of simplicity through reasonable fees and sensitivity to community conditions. Adequate office facilities and infrastructure support the effectiveness of services, while the comfort of citizens in dealing with them increases because the process is fast and straightforward. In addition, services have been run in accordance with applicable regulations even though some people do not understand in detail the legal basis. In general, the principle of economy in services has been well implemented, reflected in services that are affordable, efficient, and orientated towards community satisfaction. This research recommends improving the quality of human resources and service systems to strengthen the accountability and transparency of public services at the village level.

Abstract

A study has been conducted to estimate soil erosion based on magnetic susceptibility values in two areas, namely agricultural land and shrub land in Kanagarian Alahan Panjang, West Sumatra. Samples were taken at five points each at a depth of 10 cm, 50 cm and 100 cm located on a track with a length of 40 m. Measurements of magnetic susceptibility values were carried out using a Bartington Magnetic Susceptibility Meter with two frequencies, namely low frequency (klf) and high frequency (khf). These two measurement results were used to calculate the frequency-dependent susceptibility value (kfd). From the measurement results, it was obtained that the klf value for agricultural land ranged from 1925.3×10-5 SI to 2796.3×10-5 SI and shrub land ranged from 1041.3×10-5 SI to 2304.3×10-5 SI. These results indicate that the κlf value for all samples is classified as high which is controlled by ferrimagnetic minerals. Analysis of the klf and kfd values against depth shows that erosion has occurred on both land areas, where the area of land that has experienced erosion on the scrub land is smaller than on the agricultural land.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of career development and compensation on employee performance with work engagement as an intervening variable at the Medan Belawan District Office. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method by distributing 51 questionnaires to employees as respondents. Purposive sampling technique is used to determine the sample so that the data obtained is relevant to the research objectives. Data were analyzed using path analysis techniques to measure the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results of the study indicate that career development has a positive and significant effect on employee work engagement and performance. Compensation has a positive but insignificant effect on employee performance but has a positive and significant effect on work engagement. Work engagement also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Thus, work engagement acts as an intervening variable that mediates the influence of career development and compensation on employee performance. The results of this study are expected to be input for management in improving employee performance through targeted career development planning, providing fair compensation, and increasing employee work engagement.

Abstract

Independent learning is increasing willingness and learning skills in the learning process without involving other people and not depending on mentors, friends or other people. Self-confidence is an attitude or belief in one's own abilities, so that in taking action there is no doubt. This study discusses the implementation of independent learning programs in increasing students' self-confidence at Trensains Tebuireng High School, Jombang. The research focus is 1) How is the Independent Learning Program at Trensains Tebuireng Jombang High School? 2) What is the Confidence of Students at Trensains Tebuireng Jombang High School? 3) How is the Implementation of the Independent Learning Program in Increasing the Confidence of Students at Trensains Tebuireng Jombang High School?. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type of research. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out using interviews, observation and documentation. Informants in this study consisted of school principals, teachers and students. From the results of this study it can be concluded that 1) SMA Trensains Tebuireng Jombang encourages each student to have their own way of learning. 2) Confidence is a must for students. 3) The self-learning program in increasing self-confidence at Trensains Tebuireng Jombang Senior High School is carried out so that students can develop their potentials in their own way.

Abstract

Various innovations have been developed by researchers to obtain and develop new natural fibers because of its advantages. Some of the advantages of natural fibers such as excellent physical properties, abundant natural materials, do not damage the environment and lower production costs. This study aims to produce alternative natural fibers by utilizing fiber from oil palm fruit which is commonly found in South Sumatra. The research was carried out by preparing resin and catalyst with a ratio of 100 ml: 1 ml which was then poured into the mold as much as 25% and continued by arranging palm fruit fiber randomly. After 8 hours, the resulting composite material is soaked for 2 hours with NaOH alkaline liquid with variations of 0%, 5% and 7%. The mechanical properties of the palm fruit fiber composite increased after being treated with alkali, where the highest values ​​were tensile strength 22.46 N/mm2, impact strength 0.15 J/mm2 and bending strength 87.50 N/mm2 obtained at variations of alkaline NaOH of 7 %.

Abstract

Metode Inter Aural Time Difference (ITD) dapat diterapkan dalam konteks lokalisasi sumber suara yang terinspirasi oleh prinsip-prinsip mekanisme pendengaran manusia. Robot yang dikembangkan memiliki berbagai potensi aplikasi, seperti di sektor robotik layanan, robot bergerak, dan pengendalian kamera. Metode ITD digunakan untuk mengukur perbedaan waktu kedatangan suara yang diterima oleh dua mikrofon. Sinyal suara yang diterima oleh kedua mikrofon dianalisis melalui teknik cross-correlation, dimana nilai puncak cross-correlation digunakan sebagai parameter untuk mengukur sudut asal sumber suara. Arduino Uno digunakan sebagai komponen utama perancangan robot kemudian dibantu oleh sensor suara serta motor servo. Sumber suara yang digunakan adalah suara beberapa frekuensi dari generator Matlab. Frekuensi suara yang digunakan adalah 300 Hz dengan sudut datangnya sumber suara yang bervariasi antara 5o sampai 170o. Rentang suara yang mampu dibaca oleh robot antara 300 Hz hingga 10,000 Hz sehingga sistem lebih fleksibilitas dalam menangani berbagai situasi dan sumber suara yang karakteristik frekuensinya beragam. Hasil dari Penelitian menemukan bahwa robot mampu mengidentifikasi lokasi asal sumber suara dalam bidang setengah lingkaran (0°-180°) dengan tingkat kesalahan rata-rata sekitar 5,90%. Tingkat keberhasilan penelitian mencapai 94%, menunjukkan efektivitas metode ITD dalam lokalisasi sumber suara. Hal ini dapat menjadi dasar untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam mengoptimalkan robot dalam menemukan dan mengikuti sumber suara dengan akurasi yang tinggi.
