Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find students' error in using personal pronouns as subject and object which made by seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Merauke. The subject in this research was the students of SMP Negeri 6 Merauke grade VII A that consists of 35 students that was selected by using purposive sampling. This research was used descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected from the test. The type of test was essay test that given twice to students. Data from the test results were used to find out students' errors. First, student errors were classified using Corder theory that consists of four kinds of error; those are omission, addition, selection, and ordering. After that, the errors were analyzed by calculating the frequency of each type of error and then calculating the percentage to know what the types of error that are most often done by students. From the results of this study, has been obtained the total error of students are 429 errors. The most error are selection errors with 385 errors (89.74%), and then ordering errors with 38 errors (8.86%), and then omission errors with 3 errors (0.70%) and error addition also has the same total that is 3 errors (0.70%). Therefore, the most error that made by students of grade VII A of SMP Negeri 6 Merauke is selection error. Keywords: personal pronoun; student’s error; grammar

Abstract

The research aimed to find out whether EGRA (Exposure, Generalization, Reinforcement, Application) method can improve the students’ achievement and interest in learning English grammar. This research was done in SMP BP Al-Munawaroh in May Academic Year 2018/2019. The population of this research was conducted at the students of SMP BP Al-Munawaroh, and the samples were 35 students of Eight Grade of SMP BP Al-Munawaroh selected purposively sampling. The data were collected by using test, questionnaire and observation. The data from the test and questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively while the data from the observation were analyzed qualitatively. The result of the analyzes show that EGRA Method gives higher improvement on students’ English Grammar. The mean score of in pretest 40,78 (poor) to to 61,89 (good) in post-test. The finding from questionnaire verifies that the highest rank of the mean score is 43,71% agreed students; 22,29% strongly agreed students; 14,86% of neutral answer and 17,43% of disagreed students and 1,71% students answer the strongly disagree statement. EGRA Method is responded positively by the English grammar and the application is preferable. Keywords: EGRA method; English grammar; achievement

Abstract

The research aimed to find out whether TPS (Think-Pair-Share) strategy can improve the students’ achievement and interest in learning reading and to find out the students’ ability in reading using TPS strategy. This research was done in SMP Yapis Merauke. The population of this research was the students of seven grade SMP Yapis Merauke, academic year 2018/2019. The number of the population was 40 students with 21 boys and 19 girls, while the number of the samples was 40 students have taken purposively sampling. The data were collected by using test, questionnaire and observation. The data from the test and questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively while the data from the observation were analyzed qualitatively. The result of the analysis show that TPS (Think-Pair-Share) strategy can give improvement on students’ reading comprehension ability. The mean score of pretest 45,83 (poor) to to 66,94 (good) in post-test. The finding from questionnaire verifies that the highest rank of the mean score is 43,0 % agreed students; 22,25 % strongly agreed students; 15,25 % of neutral answer and 17,5 % of disagreed students and 2,0 % students answer the strongly disagree statement. TPS (Think-Pair-Share) strategy is responded positively by the students’s reading class and the application is accepted. Abstract

This research examines feminism as fought by women. Feminism is a movement that fights for equality between men and women. In this case, women want equal rights and opportunities in every aspect that men have. This research focuses on the types of feminism and women’s rights that fought by women in France in the 18th century. This research is a qualitative research and the method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. In addition, the theories used in this research have two theories. The first theory was the theory of feminism proposed by Rosemarie Tong to analyze the types of feminism found in Colette movie script. The second theory is the theory of women’s rights proposed by Sophie Mousset to analyze the rights of women fought by the main character in the Colette movie. The results of this research indicate that there are several types of feminism experienced by the main character. There are five types of feminism, they are Liberal feminism, Radical feminism, Anarchist feminism, Marxist feminism and Socialist Feminism. Moreover, there are women’s rights that are found in this movie. There are four women’s rights, they are Right to work, Freedom from slavery, Right to own property, and Right to own literary and artistic production.

Abstract

This research examines psychology which is motivation of the main character in the short story. Motivation is a state inside us that demands a change, whether in ourselves or in our surroundings. Moreover, motivation is a person's desire to achieve the needs that they want. This research focuses on the types of motivation and the hierarchy needs that the main character try to achieve in the short story.This research is a qualitative research and the method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. In addition, the theories used in this research have two theories. The first theory was the theory of motivation proposed by Ryan and Decy to analyze the types of motivation found in To Build a Fire short story. The second theory is the theory of hierarchy needs proposed by Abraham Maslow to analyze the needs that the main character try to achieve.The results of this research indicate that there are two types of motivation which consist of intrinsic motivation, they are five data of behavior and five data of passion. In addition, they are extrinsic motivation which are three data of status and two data of rewards. Meanwhile, there are five types of hierarchy needs which consist of three data of psychological needs, four data of safety needs, three data of love and belongingness needs, two data of self-esteem needs and three data of cognitive needs.
