Abstract

Abstract

The development of semi-closed housing systems has become an alternative transition between open and fully closed housing in medium-scale broiler chicken production. However, empirical studies integrating technical performance and financial feasibility of this system are still limited. This study aims to analyse the feasibility of broiler chicken farming using the semi-closed house system through an integrated approach between financial analysis and Performance Index (PI) in one production period. The study was conducted at the Lancar Jaya Farm in Malang Regency, with a population of 6,900 broiler chickens. Quantitative data, including fixed costs, variable costs, revenue, and production performance parameters, were analyzed descriptively using profit indicators, the R/C ratio, BEP, and PI. The results showed that the business generated a profit of IDR 27,178,137 per production period, with an R/C ratio of 1.1 and a PI of 359, which are above the national standard. These findings indicate that the semi-closed house system is capable of achieving efficient technical and financial performance on medium-scale farms. This study provides empirical contributions as a reference for farmers’ decision-making in optimizing broiler chicken housing systems and production management.

Abstract

Goat and sheep farming in Tulungagung Regency plays a crucial role in rural livelihoods, yet it still faces economic vulnerability, institutional limitations, and environmental pressures. Furthermore, studies on sustainability, which link livelihood assets to business performance at the local level, are still limited. This study aims to assess the level of livelihood and business sustainability among farmers and identify key livelihood assets that influence business resilience. Data were collected from 73 farmers through structured questionnaires and analysed using an ordinal scoring method (1–3) for 14 indicators grouped into five livelihood assets and three dimensions of sustainability (economic, social, and environmental). The results show that 49.32% of farmers have achieved the sustainable livelihood category, while 54.79% of businesses remain in the moderately sustainable category. The environmental dimension shows the best performance, and the economic dimension is the weakest, due to low income, limited access to capital, and price fluctuations. The main obstacles faced include livestock diseases, limited feed, and lack of institutional support. It can therefore be concluded that the sustainability of goat and sheep farming businesses in Tulungagung is still relatively fragile and requires strengthening in economic and institutional aspects, particularly through increased access to capital, feed provision, and strengthening of marketing institutions.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the optimization of beef cattle sales through the integration of digital marketing strategies and a pre-order system, compare sales performance, and evaluate supply chain efficiency and business financial feasibility at PS Tunas Muda, Tuban Regency. The research method used was descriptive quantitative with a data collection period from December 2025 to January 2026. Data analysis used the Independent T-Test to compare sales volume and financial feasibility analysis using the indicators of R/C Ratio, B/C Ratio, and Break Even Point (BEP). The results showed a significant increase in sales volume from 14 heads (conventional) to 23 heads (digital pre-order) with a significance value of 0.015 (p < 0.05). Financial analysis recorded a profit of IDR 47,129,646 with an R/C Ratio of 1.08 and a B/C Ratio of 0.08. The pre-order system successfully shortened the supply chain, resulting in a farmer’s share of 100% with a marketing margin of 0%. The integration of pre-order-based digital marketing effectively increased sales volume and created economic efficiency by eliminating the role of intermediaries in livestock distribution.
