Abstract

Inquiry-based learning in science education at the elementary level holds significant potential to enhance teaching quality, yet its developmental trends remain insufficiently mapped. This article aims to analyze the research trends of inquiry-based learning in elementary science education using a bibliometric approach. The study was conducted through four stages of analysis: identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. Data were retrieved from the Scopus database using the keywords “inquiry-based learning,” “science,” and “elementary school,” yielding 43 selected documents from 2014 to 2023, all in English. The analysis reveals three key terms that frequently appear in these studies: “inquiry-based learning” (22 occurrences, link strength 76), “students” (14 occurrences, link strength 76, links 35), and “elementary school” (7 occurrences, link strength 37). The highest number of publications was recorded in 2023 with eight documents, while the lowest numbers occurred in 2017 and 2021, with only one document each. The study concludes that inquiry-based learning approaches in elementary science education have received limited attention from international researchers. Thus, further studies are needed to expand the scope of this topic and enhance its contributions to primary education.

Abstract

The challenges of low student interest, limited resources, and a lack of engaging teaching media remain significant obstacles in teaching the Indonesian language in elementary schools. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of using flashcard media to improve the Indonesian language proficiency of elementary school students. The method employed is a systematic literature review (SLR) with qualitative data analysis based on relevant studies. Data were collected from various related literature to identify key findings and research gaps. The results indicate that flashcard media has proven effective in enhancing Indonesian language learning outcomes. Key findings from the literature reveal that publications related to flashcard usage peaked in 2023, while the lowest number of publications occurred in 2019. Flashcard media allows students to learn in a more interactive and engaging manner, which can increase their interest and participation in learning. Based on the literature analysis, flashcards are not only effective for teaching the Indonesian language but also represent an innovative alternative to overcome educational challenges. In conclusion, this study confirms that flashcard media is a potential solution for Indonesian language instruction, positively impacting student motivation and learning outcomes in elementary schools.

Abstract

The rapid development of information and communication technology has significantly transformed the field of education, including the approach to teaching Indonesian language in elementary schools. A key challenge in Indonesian language learning is the low level of student interest and motivation, often caused by conventional and less engaging instructional methods. This study aims to critically analyze the effectiveness of using interactive PowerPoint media in enhancing the quality of Indonesian language learning processes and outcomes. The research employed a systematic literature review method, analyzing a selection of relevant scholarly articles published within the last five years. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively using thematic synthesis to identify recurring patterns and the impact of PowerPoint media on various learning aspects. The findings reveal that interactive PowerPoint media positively influence students’ learning motivation, conceptual understanding, and overall academic performance. Visual elements such as images, animations, and interactive transitions were found to effectively capture students’ attention and encourage active participation in the learning process. The study concludes that interactive PowerPoint is an effective instructional tool to support more meaningful and student-centered Indonesian language learning. These findings imply the importance of technological innovation in instructional design to enhance student engagement and optimize learning outcomes.

Abstract

Low reading proficiency among elementary school students remains a persistent challenge in early education. This research aims to share empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of implementing word card media to improve students' reading skills. This media can be an interesting strategy to apply in Indonesian language learning. This research uses the systematic literature review (SLR) technique with a literature review method explaining that SLR or systematic literature review is research used in the field of research and development and also refers to research methodology and also measurements related to focus on a particular topic, research results based on the keyword "use of word card media" from research results using keywords, 145,000 search articles were found, then continued with the limitation period of 2019-2024 which resulted in 1,030 articles were searched by adding the keyword "student reading ability" found 210 articles adding the keyword "primary school" to the search resulting in 191 articles. Of the 191 articles reviewed and selected and evaluated, they were determined worthy of being part of the conclusion analysis. The results showed that the use of word cards Image media can improve elementary school students' reading skills. Therefore, it is recommended to use word card media in elementary schools and can also improve teachers' ability to utilize technology by integrating the use of word card media in learning.

Abstract

Indonesian language learning in elementary schools still faces various challenges, particularly low student interest in reading. This problem is exacerbated by teaching methods that tend to be monotonous and lack innovation, thereby hindering the comprehensive development of language skills. In fact, reading skills are a key foundation in the educational process, but many students are unable to achieve optimal development due to these limitations. In this context, digital media offers a promising solution by providing interactive and engaging features that can boost students' motivation and reading abilities. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze the effectiveness of the use of digital media in improving reading skills in Indonesian learning in elementary schools through a comprehensive literature review approach. This study uses the Literature review method with the PRISMA approach. The results of the study show a consistent trend of increasing article publication from 2020 to 2024, which indicates a growing interest in research on the use of digital media in improving reading skills in elementary schools. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of digital media has proven to be effective in improving the reading skills of elementary school students in learning Indonesian, with various types of media and methods that have a positive impact.  However, further research is needed to explore the contextual and long-term aspects that affect the effectiveness of digital media, as well as develop practical guidelines for teachers and media developers to optimize their use in learning.

Abstract

The low literacy skills of elementary school students remain a challenge in Indonesian language learning, as many students still face difficulties in reading, writing, and storytelling. This situation requires innovative learning media that can foster motivation, engagement, and meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to analyze and synthesize the effectiveness of a literacy-based pop-up book learning model in Indonesian language learning through a systematic literature review (SLR). We examined and selected eight peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025 using predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria through Google Scholar. We systematically extracted the data and thematically analyzed it to identify patterns of effectiveness, implementation strategies, and challenges. The findings reveal that pop-up book media significantly enhance literacy skills, particularly reading comprehension, creative writing, and oral storytelling, while simultaneously strengthening student motivation and participation through engaging visual representations. Moreover, the integration of pop-up books with interactive learning strategies such as quantum teaching demonstrates a higher impact on learning outcomes. Nevertheless, constraints related to teacher competence and resource availability remain obstacles to broader implementation. This study concludes that pop-up books are an effective medium for promoting literacy-based learning in elementary education and recommends continuous innovation supported by policy and teacher professional development to ensure sustainability and scalability.
