Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders often occur in non-ergonomic work postures. The research was conducted in the process of installing an air cleaner workstation for the excavator’s assembly at a heavy equipment manufacturing company. In the installation process, the operator must lift, hold and install the component with weight 12 kg, using the limbs manually without any tools. The objective of this study is to conduct an ergonomic evaluation by assessing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders and provide recommendations for improvement in order to reduce operator musculoskeletal injuries. To determine the level of risk of the job will be used the Rapid Entire Body Assessment method. The results of this study are R.E.B.A scores obtained which is 11, with a very high level of risk, and must be immediately corrected. Ergonomic intervention as a recommendation for improvements that support the work of the operator, is making jigs to help the installation process. After implementation, the REBA score dropped to 3 or decreases by around 67% from the initial risk Index Terms— ergonomics intervention, musculoskeletal disorders, rapid entire body assessment

Abstract

Fatigue is a significant contributor to motor-vehicle accidents and fatalities. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the use of neurobehavioral task (i.e. Psychomotor Vigilance Task (PVT) and Stroop Test) as fatigue detection technology of motor-vehicle drivers. Twelve male participants (M ± SD; 35.58 ± 3.58 years) were asked to drive 6-hour long into 2 trip (Bandung – Bekasi and Bekasi – Bandung). Results showed that neurobehavioral task may be useful to detect the fatigue of motor vehicle’s driver, specifically using this three parameters, i.e. PVT-M, #L, and RTCA. Mental fatigue score from SOFI had a significant correlation with those parameters. Regular check for drivers (i.e. before, during, and after the duty) using neurobehavioral task may improve the impact of FRMS implementation in Indonesia. Furthermore, PVT, as the gold standard of application using this approach, may be replaced by a shorter test, such as Stroop Test.

Abstract

Problems were found is on the description of customer satisfaction, related to the analysis completion time is still below the target quality PT Mutu 2016, so that the customer wait time to get a certificate of analysis exceeded the quality targets set by PT Mutu. Quality of services improvement methods to the analysis period of completion is the DMAIC and lean approach, where the results of the improvement seen in the sigma level obtained. The analytical tools used are SIPOC, pareto diagram, logic tree, two proportion test, DOE, 7 waste, p-chart and minitab software. The conclusion of this research is to improve and increased the quality of service indicators sigma value increased from 4.08 to 4.47, after repair services. Abstract

Age and gender have been commonly used as a main criterion in accepting a job aplicant, but it is usually not clear how these affect job performance. While a number of recent studies have been done that describe the relationships between age, gender, and participants capacity (e.g., muscle strength), the results have been inconclusive. In Indonesia, in particular, such issues have been rarely investigated, and it is still important to study the issue since the relationships between these factors are population-specific. This study aimed at describing the relationships between age and muscle strength among workers for both genders. Ninety-six male and female workers (aged 18–65) were recruited in this study, and data on handgrip and lower back strength were collected. Findings of this study show that peak hand-grip strength occured at the age of around 35-40 years of age, regardless of gender. Maximum lower back strengh was identified at the age of 31-35 years old (for males) and 26-30 years old (for females). Comparisons between two extreme age groups (18-20 vs. 61-65 years of age) showed a mean strength decline of 50% for hand-grip and 30% for the lower back. For both protocols, female participants tended to have lower muscle strength (70-80% of their male counterparts). Findings of this study can be used as a basis in evaluating physical requirements of a job, and the corresponding factors (age and gender) relevant for the job.

Abstract

Fatigue is an important factor that contributes to the decline in someone's performance. This study aims to identify how much influence the duration of driving a combat vehicle has on the decline in cognitive function. A total of 8 TNI-AD soldiers were asked to drive a combat vehicle within 2 hours, and tested by subjective measurements using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. In this research, concluded that driving a combat vehicle within 2 hours resulted in a decrease in cognitive function. Then, it can also be concluded that most of the soldiers had good sleep quality after being measured through the PSQI questionnaire. The experimental results show that the number of respondents who have good sleep quality is 75%.

Abstract

Along with the development and progression of sophisticated engine technology will have an impact on the high level of competition in the lubricant business. This will provide a great opportunity for consumers to find a quality lubricant products at competitive rates. The main objective of this research is to make improvements industrial lubricant that can be developed and improve product quality by analyzing the attributes attached based on customer wants and needs. One of the appropriate methods to solve that problems is Quality Function Deployment (QFD).The data obtained from surveys to customers later translated into the House of Quality (HOQ), then do the analysis. Based on the data analysis afterward be produced expansions proposals according to quality and priority attributes considered important by customers. There are 16 attributes considered important by customers who are grouped into 4 dimensions in the order of priority Place, Price, Product, and Promotion. Of performance industrial lubricant obtained that Product attribute is the most satisfying consumers when compared with competitors. The next sequence is Promotion, Place, and Price. The main priority should be improved for the development of industrial lubricant product is to increase knowledge of human resource and business partners, improvements to the lubricant delivery system by performing a model consignment and optimizing laboratory facilities that have been held so expect industry lubricant products manufactured by PT. XY and consumers demand a wider marketing.
