Abstract

Having graduated from senior high school, most of high school students continue their education to university level. This research aimed to find effectiveness of career counseling by using career information-processing model to assist career decision-making for students of MAN Y Jakarta. The career information-processing model emphasizes the mind and memory in the process of problem solving and career decision-making (Henderson, 2009). This research used quasi-experiment one group pre-test post-test design involving 7 participants who previously experienced the obstacle in career decision-making. The career counseling intervention was implemented in 9 sessions. Based on paired sample t-test (t=8.576, p<.01), result showed that career counseling intervention was effective to assist career counseling for students of MAN Y Jakarta. Thus, intervention in this study could serve as a model of intervention to assist students in career decision-making.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the role of fathers involvement in parenting towards the development of self esteem in adolescents. This research used quantitative method with purposive sampling technique. The participants were 149 adolescents who live with the their fathers. This study used self esteem scale by Rosenberg and father involvement scale which was developed by researcher based on the theory of Goncy and Van Dullman. The data analysis result using regression test shows that the contribution of the role of the father involvement on adolescent's self esteem is 38%, while the other 62% was caused by other factors. This finding indicate that the greater role of father in parenting, the higher self esteem. This study hopefully can increase father’s awareness and brings new pattern of family parenting about their roles that not only in economic but also for the psychological effect, especially self esteem.

Abstract

Aim of this study is to know the descriptions of Instagram addiction among senior high school students in Jakarta. Adolescence is a phase with better physical and socialization with peers, they have to fullfill their belongingness and love needs with various methods, one of them is social media named Instagram. Instagram is most known and used social media compared to others, so this is possible if users open Instagram frequently or, addicted to Instagram. This study uses theory from Andreassen et al (2015) about Social Media Addiction that was referred from DSM 5 Internet Addiction Disorder criterion, there are 6 aspects of media social addiction: Salience, Mood Modification, Tolerance, Withdrawal, Conflict, and Relapse. Instrument of this study uses adaptation of Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), with incidental sampling to 265 High Schools students in Jakarta Selatan and analyzed uses descriptive statistics.  Findings of this research shows  that there is no significant differences between boys and girls in Instagram addiction, eventhough girls have slightly higher mean to boys. Besides, Tolerance is the highest aspect of Addiction and the lowest is Conflict.

Abstract

According to the results of the Survey of Home Learning performed by the Directorate General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding online lectures during the epidemic, most students believe that online lectures are ineffective. The goal of this study was to see if there was a difference in the grit of students from State Universities (PTN) and Private Higher Education (PTS) during Online Learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This study's population consisted of PTN and PTS students. While the samples in this study were students of PTN and PTS in Jakarta. This survey included 62 students from public universities and 62 from private universities. Angela L Duckworth produced a grit scale questionnaire with 12 components, which was used to collect data. The two-group difference test was employed in the data analysis procedure to compare the grit of PTN and PTS students. In this study, there was a significant difference in grit between students at state universities (M = 39.0484, SD = 5.87974) and students at private colleges (M = 42.0806, SD = 7.82870), t = -2.439, p = 0.016. The mean grit of public college students is lower than that of private university students.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan perilaku prososial pada mahasiswa universitas mercu buana kranggan. Pengelolaan emosi sangatlah penting bagi individu guna pengambilan keputusan dalam bertindak, karena kecerdasan intelektual tidak berarti apa-apa bila emosi yang berkuasa. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu Non Probability Sampling dengan jenis Accidental Sampling. Responden yang ada dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana Kranggan yang berjumlah 3172 orang yang diambil sebanyak 153 sampel untuk penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain penelitian kuantitatif korelasional. Skala yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah skala kecerdasan emosional (Goleman’s refinement model of emotional intelligence) yang dikembangkan oleh Ashkan Khalili (2011) dan skala perilaku prososial (Prosocial Tendencies Measure (PTM)) oleh Eisenberg (1989). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan perilaku prososial atau dapat dikatakan semakin tinggi kecerdasan emosional yang dimiliki mahasiswa Universitas Mercu Buana Kranggan maka semakin tinggi pula perilaku prososial yang ditunjukan. Sebaliknya jika kecerdasan emosional rendah maka semakin rendah juga perilaku prososial yang ditunjukan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara self-esteem dengan self-presentation online pada cosplayer usia dewasa awal pengguna Instagram. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif korelasional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 167 cosplayer yang terdiri dari perempuan maupun laki-laki yang diambil dengan menggunakan teknik non probability sampling yaitu purposive sampling. Hasil analisis dari penelitian ini menggunakan analisa korelasi Pearson yang menunjukan bahwa adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara self-esteem dengan self-presentation online cosplayer usia dewasa awal pengguna Instagram dan nilai korelasi sebesar 0,473 sehingga menunjukkan hubungan antar variabel dengan arah yang positif. Artinya jika individu dengan self-esteem positif maka juga memiliki self-presentation online yang positif.

Abstract

Student mental health is facing a growing crisis, with rising rates of psychological distress and suicide reported among university populations in Indonesia. This study investigates the influence of three key psychosocial factors—family health, psychological well-being, and social support—on student mental health. A total of 140 university students were selected using an accidental sampling technique. Mental health was assessed using the GHQ-28, psychological well-being was measured with the Psychological Well-Being Scale (PWB), social support was evaluated using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), and family health was assessed through the Family Health Scale–Long Form. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine both the individual and combined effects of the predictor variables on student mental health outcomes. The results revealed a significant combined effect of family health, psychological well-being, and social support on student mental health (p = 0.000, R = 0.620, R² = 38.4%). When examined individually, family health (p = 0.000) and psychological well-being (p = 0.049) were significant predictors, while social support was not (p = 0.405). However, a post-hoc analysis showed that family-based social support had a statistically significant impact on student mental health (p = 0.001). The novelty of this study lies in its holistic approach, which integrates three major psychosocial predictors within a culturally grounded framework while emphasizing the need for university-based mental health screening systems. The findings underscore the critical role of campuses as supportive microsystems in promoting student mental health through preventive strategies, early detection, and responsive programming. Developing a psychologically safe and inclusive learning environment is essential to improving students’ overall well-being.

Abstract

Entering young adulthood, where the developmental task is to achieve economic and social independence, places individuals at risk of experiencing a quarter-life crisis. This period is often marked by high anxiety and stress about future uncertainties. Healthy self-hardiness is crucial for young adults to manage stress and cope with their developmental challenges. This study aims to explore the role of self-compassion in fostering hardiness among young adults during the quarter-life crisis. The research uses a quantitative cross-sectional design, employing the Multidimensional Hardiness Inventory for Young Adults, which has a reliability coefficient of α = .929. Self-compassion is measured using Neff's (2003) self-compassion scale, adapted into Indonesian with a reliability coefficient of α = .727. The hypothesis was tested using simple linear regression analysis on a sample of 116 respondents, selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate a significant positive effect of self-compassion on hardiness in young adults during the quarter-life crisis (p = .034 < .05). Developing a healthy self-compassion attitude can help young adults build hardiness, enabling them to better manage stress and achieve independence in their social and economic lives.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memprediksi pengaruh kecerdasan emosional terhadap perilaku cyberbullying pada siswa. Kecerdasan emosional yang dimiliki para siswa dinilai memiliki peran penting terhadap terjadinya perilaku cyberbullying, Cyberbullying adalah salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi kecerdasan emosional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantiatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasional dan menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh. Sebanyak 177 siswa yang bersekolah di SMP X menjadi responden penelitian. Alat ukur yang digunakan untuk untuk mengukur perilaku cyberbullying adalah skala perilaku cyberbullying yang mengacu pada aspek-aspek perilaku cyberbullying Willard (2007) yang dikembangkan oleh Larasati dan Fitria (2016), dan alat ukur kecerdasan emosional adalah skala Goleman’s refinement model of emotional intelligence dari Goleman (2001) yang dikembangkan oleh  Khaili (2011). Hasil analisis regresi sederhana menunjukkan adanya pengaruh  kecerdasan emosional terhadap perilaku cyberbullying, dimana kecerdasan emosional menurunkan perilaku cyberbullying. Disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi kecerdasan emosional yang dimiliki maka akan semakin rendah juga perilaku cyberbullying yang terjadi, dan begitupun sebaliknya.

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between hardiness and academic stress among full-time working students in Jakarta. The study utilized a quantitative approach, employing the Pearson Product Moment method via IBM SPSS 25, with a sample of 368 undergraduate students from private universities, aged 19 years and older. The results indicated a significant negative correlation between hardiness and academic stress (r = -0.281, p = 0.001), suggesting that higher levels of hardiness are associated with lower levels of academic stress. Conversely, lower hardiness correlates with higher academic stress. Interviews with three full-time working students revealed that time management, workload, and the pressure to balance work and study contribute significantly to academic stress. The findings align with prior studies, showing that students with higher hardiness can manage academic pressures more effectively, viewing challenges as opportunities for personal growth. This research emphasizes the importance of developing resilience and emotional control in full-time working students to mitigate academic stress and improve academic outcomes. The implications suggest that educational institutions should consider offering support systems tailored to the unique challenges faced by working students, to help them maintain their academic performance while managing their work responsibilities.
