Abstract

Kalurahan Tayuban merupakan salah satu kalurahan yang terletak di Kecamatan Tayuban, Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta dengan luas wilayah 220,3 hektar dengan potensi unggul dalam bidang pertanian dan perkebunan, yaitu berupa kelapa. Namun, terdapat kedala yang dialami yaitu pemanfaatan kelapa dan limbah yang kurang optimal karena sebagian hasil panen setiap tahunnya tidak diolah lebih lanjut dan hanya dijual dalam bentuk kupas ke pengelupul untuk selanjutnya didistribusikan ke Solo. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian yakni berupaya menjadikan Kalurahan Tayuban menjadi Kalurahan dengan predikat Desa Prima yang mampu memanfaatkan potensi wilayah sehingga mampu berdaya saing secara ekonomis. Hasil yang dicapai adalah terbentuknya komunitas untuk melakukan diversifikasi buah dan limbah kelapa, meningkatnya keterampilan pembuatan lilin aromaterapi, Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), biochar, dan cocopeat, serta keterampilan pengelolaan keuangan usaha sederhana dan pemakaian aplikasi E-Commerce sebagai media pemasaran yang membantu mensukseskan Kalurahan Tayuban menjadi Desa Prima.

Abstract

Workshop kepenulisan esai ini bertujuan memberikan pemahaman mendalam tentang teknik menulis esai yang baik dan menarik sekaligus membantu peserta menuangkan pengalaman personal ke dalam tulisan yang terstruktur, beralur jelas, dan berpesan kuat. Kegiatan dilaksanakan tatap muka di The University of Western Australia pada 6 September 2025 dengan 40 peserta (mahasiswa postgraduate, anggota AIPSSA, dan keluarga). Metode yang digunakan adalah Participatory Action Research (PAR) melalui siklus plan–act–observe–reflect yang mengintegrasikan pengantar konsep, praktik menulis terarah, coaching clinic, umpan balik berulang, serta kurasi profesional oleh Iqbal Aji Darjono. Evaluasi menggunakan angket Likert 1–5 mencakup aspek Materi, Narasumber & Fasilitator, Pelaksanaan, dan Manfaat. Hasil menunjukkan 35 esai layak kurasi (87,5%). Rerata kepuasan per aspek adalah Materi 4,60 (SD 0,43; %≥4: 92%), Narasumber & Fasilitator 4,60 (SD 0,65; %≥4: 92%), Pelaksanaan 4,34 (SD 0,63; %≥4: 80%), dan Manfaat 4,68 (SD 0,53; %≥4: 100%); rerata keseluruhan 4,54 dengan tingkat respons 62,5% (25/40). Temuan menegaskan efektivitas pendekatan PAR dan kurasi profesional dalam meningkatkan pengalaman belajar menulis serta kepercayaan diri peserta. Area perbaikan teridentifikasi pada alokasi waktu agar siklus revisi lebih mendalam, yang direncanakan melalui klinik tindak lanjut daring. Program ini layak direplikasi dengan penyesuaian konteks untuk memaksimalkan dampak pada kualitas tulisan dan produksi luaran buku yang diterbitkan.

Abstract

Implementasi kurikulum berbasis STEM di Malaysia telah dilaksanakan sejak tahun 2017. Lamanya pengalaman tidak membuat implementasinya menjadi lebih mudah. Tantangan dan perkembangan teknologi menjadikan implementasi pembelajaran berbasis STEM menjadi lebih menantang. Variasi pembelajaran agar dapat mencakup baik dari segi science, technology, engineering dan mathematics-nya adalah salah satu tantangan yang dihadapi. Eco-printing merupakan metode pewarnaan dengan memanfaatkan pewarna alami. Dalam implementasinya teknik ini memiliki seluruh aspek dalam pembelajaran STEM. Hasil yang diperoleh juga memiliki nilai jual yang tinggi. Dengan adanya perkembangan pemanfaatan media social, diharapkan siswa juga dapat mengambil keuntungan di dalamnya. Oleh sebab itu kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan alternatif implementasi konsep STEM dalam pembelajaran di sekolah sekaligus menumbuhkan jiwa wira usaha sebagai muara pembelajaran berbasis STEM. Metode yang digunakan adalah workshop dengan pemberian materi dan praktik langsung. Kegiatan workshop STEM eco-printing dalam kerangka implementasi kurikulum berbasis STEM dan dikaitkan dengan pendidikan kewirausahaan telah memberikan alternatif implementasi kurikulum berbasis STEM yang mengasyikkan dan bernilai ekonomi dengan tetap pengedepankan basic science yang menjadi pondasi utamanya.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of PBL e-learning using the brainwriting method to enhance students’ Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and learning interest. This research employs a research and development approach using the ADDIE  model. The research instruments included media validation sheets from material and media experts, questionnaires, observation sheets, and test questions. The research results are as follows: (1) PBL e-learning with the brainwriting method is feasible for enhancing students’ HOTS and learning interest; (2) this e-learning is practical for use in learning activities, as indicated by assessments from students and teachers, with a practicality score of 98, categorized as “very practical”; and (3) this e-learning is effective in improving students’ HOTS and learning interest, as shown by the MANOVA test results, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). These findings suggest that integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with the brainwriting method in an e-learning environment can be an effective instructional strategy to foster higher-order thinking skills and increase students’ engagement in biology learning. Furthermore, this study contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by promoting inclusive, innovative, and technology-enhanced learning practices that support the development of critical thinking skills essential for lifelong learning in the 21st century.

Abstract

Rhizobacteria are endophytic bacteria that inhabit plant tissues and the rhizosphere, producing secondary metabolites that support plant growth. This study is an exploratory descriptive investigation aimed at characterizing and identifying IAA- and phytohormone-producing endophytic rhizobacteria isolated from the roots of corn plants (Zea mays L.). The rhizobacteria isolates producing IAA phytohormones were obtained by culturing bacteria in Yeast Peptone Broth (YPB) medium supplemented with L-tryptophan. Bacterial cultures (1 mL) were treated with Salkowski reagent, and absorbance was measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 530 nm. From 14 isolates, five were identified as producing the highest levels of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), ranging from 17 to 50 ppm. Identification was conducted using the profile matching method to determine the genus of each rhizobacterium by comparing its characteristics with reference genera. Based on 62 tested traits, the five isolates exhibited diverse features, including Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, coccus-shaped morphology, circular and irregular colony configurations, lobate and undulate margins, convex, umbonate, and raised elevations, and colony colors ranging from white to yellowish, along with varied physiological (biochemical) test results. The identification results revealed bacteria with a similarity index of ≥70%, suggesting proximity to the genus Micrococcus (77.4%, isolate N), Rhizobium (80.6%, isolate D), and Shewanella (80.6%, isolate B; 87.1%, isolate V; and 91.9%, isolate E). This research provides an important contribution to the development of biofertilizers aimed at enhancing the growth and productivity of corn plants sustainably.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are considered essential for students to have because they can help students make appropriate, careful, systematic, logical decisions and weigh various viewpoints. High school students must have problem-solving skills because biology subjects are developed through analytical, inductive, and deductive thinking to solve problems related to nature. This research aims to determine students' problem-solving skills in class XI biology learning at State High Schools in Sleman Regency. This research is a type of descriptive research using a survey approach. The population in this study were all Sleman Regency State High Schools, namely 17 schools with a sample of 9 schools so the subjects in this study were 249 students. Research subjects were selected using probability sampling with cluster sampling techniques. The data collection technique uses tests in the form of problem-solving questions. The results of the research show that the level of problem-solving skills of class XI students at state SMA Sleman Regency was in the medium category with a percentage of 43.21%. The percentage of each indicator, namely understanding the problem, is 65.8% in the capable category, evaluating alternatives is 37% in the less category, and creating a problem-solving plan is 29% in the less category.

Abstract

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a disease caused by both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Red algae (Kappaphycus alvarezii) contain bioactive compounds derived from secondary metabolites with antibacterial properties. This study investigates the potential of Kappaphycus alvarezii methanol extract to inhibit the growth of Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 using the microdilution broth method, determining Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) values ranging from a concentration of 500 µg/mL to 1.9531 µg/mL. To elucidate the inhibition mechanism, nucleic acid, protein, and Ca2+ ion leakage assay were performed via spectrophotometry at MIC 1, MIC 2, and MIC 3 concentrations. Morphological changes in the bacterial cell membrane were further examined using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) at MIC 2. The results demonstrated that, the methanol extract of K. alvarezii exhibited significant antibacterial activity against Enterococcus faecalis bacteria with an MIC value of 1.9531 µg/mL, but showed no inhibitory effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The extract inducted membrane leakage, as indicated by a higher leakage value compared to negative controls and commercial antibiotics. In addition, the methanol extract of K. alvarezii caused alterations in bacterial cells. These findings highlight the potential of Kappaphycus alvarezii methanol extract as a promising antibacterial agent.
