Abstract

Abstract

Research findings must be disseminated to the public, either to specific groups or broadly, to create a positive impact on development. The Payo area in Solok City is an agrotourism region with potential for citrus cultivation and citrus-picking tourism. Socialization on land suitability studies and fertilization recommendations is essential to inform farmers. Recommendations for citrus cultivation in Payo serve as guidelines for the future development of citrus farming. This activity aims to deliver cultivation recommendations based on land suitability and fertilization, contributing to sustainable agricultural development. It was conducted in Nagari Payo, Solok City, covering several activities, including land suitability and agro-climate analysis using primary and secondary data, analysis of soil physical and chemical properties for fertilization recommendations, and socialization of citrus cultivation to the community. The analysis revealed that Payo is suitable for citrus planting, with recommended varieties such as Keprok Batu 55, Keprok Brastepu, Keprok Garut, Keprok Tejakula, and Siam Pontianak. However, soil fertility in Payo is generally low, necessitating improvement through liming, the application of ameliorants, and organic and inorganic fertilization. Evaluation of the activity showed that farmers were enthusiastic and understood the information provided. Three months after the activity, all planted seedlings were growing well.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in growth and yield of Indigo Rose black tomato plants at two different altitudes. The research was conducted in October 2018 until January 2019 in two different locations. The first location in Bulakan Balai Kandi Village, West Payakumbuh, Payakumbuh City with an altitude of 500 m above sea level (asl) and the second location in Jorong Koto Laweh Puncak Alai, Tanjung Alam Subdistrict Tanjung Baru, Tanah Datar Regency with an altitude of 1300 m asl. This study used the experimental method in two different locations, quantitative data obtained from the observations were analyzed by independent t test at the level of 5%. The parameters observed were plant height, age of first flower appearance, number of productive branches, stem diameter, age of first harvest, number of fruits per plant, fruit diameter and weight of fruit per plant. The results showed that there were differences in growth and yield of Indigo Rose black tomato plants at two different altitudes. The best growth and yield of Indigo Rose black tomato plants is grown in the highlands.

Abstract

The attack intensity of several rice varieties to bacterial leaf blight (BLB) disease caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae is assumed to be different. This study aimed to determine the intensity of BLB attacks on several rice varieties and determine level of resistance. The research was conducted from April to July 2016 on experimental land of Center for Agricultural Training (BBPP) of Batangkaluku, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The study used an experimental method with Randomized Block Design (RBD) in 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment in the form of 6 rice varieties, namely: IR 64, Ciherang, Situ Bagendit, Sintanur, Mekongga, and Celebes. The results showed that all varieties were included in the criteria of moderately resistant to bacterial leaf blight X. oryzae pv. oryzae. The attacks of BLB tended to increase every week, with the highest attacks found on 84 day after planting. The highest attack was found at 84 day after planting. The most resistant variety was Mekongga with the intensity of attacks ranging from 0 – 7.09% (resistant - moderately resistant) and able to provide the highest yield of 7.2 tons ha-1. Plant height and number of tillers were not affected by bacterial leaf blight attacks.
