Abstract

In its development, small businesses that have been running in the acacia road area, are relatively well run and much in demand by the surrounding community. However, COVID-19 pandemic forced small businesses to temporarily stop their businesses. As a result, the business climate has become sluggish and devoid of trading activities. With the vacuum caused by the pandemic, when small entrepreneurs want to reopen their businesses, a special strategy is needed to be able to attract buyers' interests so that businesses in the new normal era can run smoothly again. So that this community service was built to provide training to small entrepreneurs on the acacia road, to be able to optimize the use of good and attractive Advertising language to achieve the objectives in the above exposure. The method used in optimizing businesses in the new normal era through optimization of advertising language content is the pattern of assisting small entrepreneurs in creating product/service banner advertisements, FGDs and core activities in the form of training in making good advertisements in the form of banners to attract consumers' interest in buying products/services offered.

Abstract

Warmadewa University has had a significant transformation to its surrounding which used to be agricultural land, currently this land is occupied by several traders who offer their products and services especially on Akasia street. There are differences when viewing from an economic point of view before the pandemic which has been going on for the last few months which has caused a drastic decline in turnover of traders around the Warmadewa University. Based on the visions and missions of Warmadewa University to increase the quantity and quality of the community service that is the prosperity of the traders. Then, the solutions that can be offered is to apply the method, namely the socialization of advertising languages to attract consumers through print and online media with the hope of a revival of the economy for traders in the midst of this pandemic. The results of this study prove that Community Service Activities with the target of the traders at Akasia Street have gotten better by increasing partners' knowledge in promotional strategy by applying adveritising language through print media such as distributing printed and online media such as distribution of product/service advertising banners in the form of education in the use of advertising language in social media accounts such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.

Abstract

Over time, the use of regional languages ​​has changed significantly in its use. Given the ever-evolving times, changing mindsets and lifestyles that demand differences from the previous era. Currently the use of mother tongue or Indonesian and English is more desirable in its application due to the demands of an increasingly advanced era. With this phenomenon, the use of regional languages ​​is slowly becoming less attractive, especially the younger generation. To prevent this from happening, a solution is needed, namely by providing teaching or socialization in the form of conservation and revitalization of local languages. The community service program organized by Warmadewa University which aims to educate and increase the interest of the younger generation regarding the preservation of the Balinese language in cultural activities, this also has a relationship with aspects of culture and language. This activity is carried out using a descriptive qualitative method that describes real phenomena that occur in a society. The result of this dedication is that the younger generation shows an interest in fertility activities in order to continue one of the hereditary cultures that has been recognized by the world, namely Subak.

Abstract

Traditional culinary is a representation of a society that becomes a cultural identity. With the presence of these traditional culinary delights, it can be a means of introducing social, cultural and tourism life. As with other countries, Timor Leste is rich in cuisine, especially traditional culinary delights that have a big role in preserving the lives of its people. Basically, food does not only focus on consumption but also enhances the image of society and informs the condition of the people. In this case, the Master of Linguistics at Warmadewa University collaborates with Escolla Tѐcnica Vocacional Publico De Palaban, Pante-Macassar, Oa-Cusse Ambeno, Timor Leste which through this international community service activity held a socialization in the form of preservation of traditional Timorese culinary by presenting the community, especially the generation young people for the introduction of tools, materials and procedures for making traditional culinary delights and their relation to linguistics in the form of vocabulary. This study shows the interest of the younger generation in their efforts to preserve traditional culinary delights. This research uses a case study research type to get maximum results. The results of this service state that the community, especially the younger generation, can follow the socialization well and understand the procedures for making traditional culinary delights and are able to name the types of food and describe each procedure.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris diperlukan di hampir setiap bidang kehidupan, termasuk di bidang dunia pendidikan, dunia kerja, dunia bisnis, dll. Dengan menguasai bahasa Inggris, orang memiliki peluang besar untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan di berbagai kesempatan. Salah satu komunitas belajar di Bali yang memberikan pembelajaran di luar sekolah, yaitu Komunitas Kambodja Rumah Belajar. Komunitas ini memberikan kegiatan pembelajaran kepada anak-anak di desa Suwung. Desa Suwung merupakan salah satu desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Denpasar Selatan, Kota Denpasar Provinsi Bali yang berjarak 500meter sebelah selatan pusat kota. Anak-anak binaan di desa Suwung dikelola oleh Komunitas Kambodja Rumah Belajar. Namun, tenaga pengajar di komunitas tersebut masih harus dimaksimalkan karena tenaga pengajar merupakan para relawan. Selain itu, anak-anak di desa Suwung mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Berdasarkan fenomena inilah Magister Ilmu linguistik Universitas Warmadewa mengambil bagian melalui kegiatan PKM dengan mengadakan program Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris Kepada Anak Anak Binaan Di Desa Suwung Yang Dikelola Komunitas Kammbodja Rumah Belajar.

Abstract

There are four common language skills that must be learned and studied continuously. One of the language skills that must be mastered by students is listening. By having based on ability, students will have the ability to express their thoughts and feelings correctly in the context of the situation needed and capture information with the speaker's intent, then respond to the information itself. A child learns a language through listening first. The process of listening, understanding meaning, imitating, and practicing language sound is repeated until the child speaks fluently. The same thing happens to adults when they learn a foreign language. This article describes the lack of listening in English for junior high school students and the appropriateness of teaching English to increase students' interest in developing listening skills. This may be because students' interest in listening skills is not good and the Extensive Listening approach is applied to improve listening skills, which is applied by the teacher in the learning process so that students do not practice listening skills in English. Based on this situation, the aim of this activity is to help build students' interest in improving English listening skills and through an extensive listening and application approach to teaching listening skills to junior high school students. In the process of listening there are five components, namely paying attention, understanding, remembering, and providing feedback or feedback. The object of this PKM activity is SMP PGRI 3 Denpasar, especially for class VIII students. The results of the research in this activity indicate that students are able to master the five components that have been applied in the teaching process of the Extensive Listening approach that is applied in improving students' listening skills and are able to pay attention, and understand, remember, and respond. Thus, in this case, the implementation is carried out with this focus so that learning outcomes can be optimal.

Abstract

Community service research in English Language Teaching (ELT) is instrumental in evolving language education and refining management strategies. This research aims 1) to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current landscape of language education, 2) to identify the diverse needs and preferences of language learners across various demographics, and 3) to develop marketing approaches that foster inclusivity in language education. The research methodology leverages the Zoom platform, offering a versatile virtual environment for stakeholder consultations, remote workshops, training sessions, and community engagement. The integration of Zoom proves effective in maintaining consistent communication, monitoring progress, and gathering real-time insights from diverse perspectives. The results of the community service activities are impactful, achieving a comprehensive assessment of the current language education landscape, identification of diverse learner needs, and the development of inclusive marketing approaches. The virtual nature of Zoom workshops facilitates the dissemination of inclusive strategies, contributing to a collaborative and supportive community within language education. In conclusion, ELT Solutions’ community service research, guided by innovative marketing strategies and facilitated by Zoom, significantly contributes to the improvement of language instruction, identification of diverse learner needs, and the development of inclusive practices. As a beacon for ongoing evolution in language education, this research positively impacts global language proficiency and intercultural communication skills, emphasizing the importance of adaptability in effective language teaching and education management.
