Abstract

Sea urchin is an abundant fisheries resources in Pisou Village, Pagimana District, Central Sulawesi. This abundance is caused by the high productivity of sea urchins and the lack of utilization by the local community. The high density of sea urchins causes the poor quality of gonad and taste. This is mainly caused by the insufficient availability of food in the nature that can be only improved by aquaculture. This community empowerment was conducted in the Pisou Village for 5 weeks from February-March 2020. The aim of this program is to cultivate sea urchins in improving the quality of sea urchin gonad by aquaculture. Another goal is to educate the local fishers on how to culture and utilized the gonad a seafood and crackers. The result of this activity is the availability of floating net cages at Desa Pisou Village that can be used for sea urchin cultivation.

Abstract

Yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptopleptis) is an economically important fish species from small pelagic fishery resources in TPI, Tenda Village, Hulonthalangi Subdistrict, Gorontalo City. Gonad Maturity (TKG), Gonad Maturity Index (IKG), and condition factors of yellowstripe scad. The results of the research yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) between males and females have a gonadal maturity index (IKG) of 0.013%–0.025%, with the number of gonadal maturity levels (TKG) I is 24, TKG II is 22, TKG III is 10 tail, TKG IV is 1 individual and TKG V is 5 individuals. The value of relationship value between length and weight of yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) is W=0,3945L1,0487 with a value of b<3 (negative allometric). The relative condition factors varied from 0.9051–1.069. Meanwhile, the fecundity of yellowstripe scad (Selaroides leptolepis) ranged from 23.760-78.000 eggs.

Abstract

Suritech (sea urchin technology) is a technology machine for threshing sea urchin spines for the production of sea urchin egg kukure. Sea urchins are echinoderms whose entire body surface is covered with venomous spines. The purpose of this study was to determine the speed, capacity and production of sea urchin eggs based on the Suritech machine. The purpose of this research is to provide information on how to manufacture suritech machines in managing sea urchins. The Suritech machine is capable of producing 100 sea urchins per 4 minutes or 36.000 urchin per day. The production of sea urchin eggs by the Suritech machine is able to beat the production of sea urchin eggs in Japan, which is only around 27.000 tons per day. Thus, the use of the Suritech machine as a thresher of sea urchin spines is expected to increase fishermen's income and position South Sulawesi as the center of sea urchin egg production in Indonesia.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the abundance of sea urchins in the waters of South Leato Beach. The study was conducted in the waters of Blue Marlin Beach and South Leato Beach, Dumbo Raya Subdistrict, Gorontalo City in November 2021 with two sampling stations. Data retrieval is done using direct observation methods at two stations. Data collection is done by installing a transect of 1×1 meter with the transect distance of each point is 10 meters starting from the edge of the island's waters towards the sea. After that, data is carried out in the form of observations of sea urchin types and counting the number of individuals of each type of sea urchin in the transect. The data collection in this study was conducted in just 1 day. The type of sea urchin found on leato beach is 3 types, namely, Echinothrix Calamaris (white thorns), Dianema Setosum (black thorns) and Echinothrix Calamaris (striped brown thorns). Types of sea urchins found on the blue marlin beach are 3 types, Tripneustes gratilla (collector's sea urchin), Burrowing urchin (porcupine that digs) and Diadema savignyi (Long sea urchin).

Abstract

Buol regency is a regency in the central of Sulawesi, Indonesia that has a lot of fisheries resources commodity. One of them is milk fish. Economic and social issues are still the main issues in Buol Regency. Community empowerment by training activities are needed to make fish nuggets to improve the economy and assistance in vaccination of the Covid-19 program as part of the government program to pass the outbreak of virus in 2022. This activity was carried out for 45 days in Kantanan Village and Negeri Lama Village. There are a total of 20 students as companions in the two villages. The method used in this service is the training method, through mentoring and practice. Participants could be easily understand and practice it well. The results obtained from this activity are nuggets of milk fish and the implementation of the vaccination program at the both village. The achievement of the vaccination program in the two villages is 85%. In conclusion, this community service program has been running well and achieving its targets to create and help community in Buol Regency.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the species composition and abundance of fishes in the waters of Tontayuo Village and Lamu Village, Batudaa Pantai Subdistrict, Gorontalo Regency. This research was conducted from April to May 2022. The data collection of this research was carried out using a net with a length of 50 m, a widh of 2 m, and a mesh size of 1.5 cm drawn in the seagrass meadow, and it was replicated three times at each station, namely station I (Tontayuo Village) and station 2 (Lamu Village). The findings denoted that the highest species composition was found at station I with 34 species, while at station 2, there ware only 11 species. At the same time, the highest abundance value found at station 1 was Piotosus lineatus species, and the highest abudance at station II was Caranx melampyus species. Overall, the finding signified that the composition and abundance of fishes at station I and station II ware highly different due to the different water condition and fishing times.

Abstract

The waters of Tomini Bay are waters that have quite a lot of natural resources. One of the resources in these waters is the yellowstripe scad fish (Selaroides leptolepis). This observation aims to study the reproductive biology aspects of the yellowstripe scad fish, including length and weight, sex ratio, gonadal maturity level, gonadal maturity index, and fecundity in order to provide information for planning options for the management of yellowstripe scad fish resources so that they can be utilized optimally and sustainably. The observation was conducted on May 4, 2019. Fish sample analysis was carried out at the Hydrobiology and Biometrics Laboratory, Gorontalo State University. The results of the observation showed that the average length of the yellowstripe scad fish was 200 mm and the weight was 104.5 g. The length-weight relationship of yellowstripe scad fish (Selaroides leptolepis) is categorized as negative allometric with b = 1.04. The gonadal maturity index of male yellowstripe scad fish ranged from 0.008-0.034, while in females it ranged from 0.011-0.056. The average condition factor of male and female fish is 0.9962, respectively.

Abstract

Blue Marlin Beach has been functioned as the marine tourism attraction by the local government of Gorontalo regent due to the beauty of the underwater. However the natural resources in the Blue Marli Beach have not been docuented, specifically for macroalgae. Therefore, this research aims to provide the data and information about species composition of the green macroalgae in the Blue Marlin Becah. This research was conducted for two months starting from November to December 2020. The measurement of GPS coordinate, seawater current, temperature, and wave actiion was concucted with Fishing Points Software. Observatory methode was performed in this study to collect the specimens. Then, all specimens was put-in the zipperbag and stored in the coolbox containing with the ice to protect the specimens in fresh. The results show that there are 6 species of the green macroalgae. Theya are Bornetella sphaerica, Caulerpa sertularioides, Valonia aegagropila, Boergesenia forbesii, Acetabularia caliculus, and Chaetomorpha crassa. The average of sea water temperatur during the study is 31°C with the seawater current is 0.1 m/s and wave is 0.2 m
