Abstract

Exercise is the easy and cheapest effort that can be did to maintain health level and increase the immune system. The dense activity during the day makes people doing exercise at the night. Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is a one of indicator that can be use to evaluate the inflammation process caused by exercise. This study aims to determine the appearance of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio on young adult after futsal sport in the night. This research was a quasi experimental with the subjects were 10 young adults for intervention and control respectively that satisfy the inclusion criteria. Measurement of total leukocyte, count type of leukocyte and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio were conducted before and after 2 x 20-minute futsal sport in the night. The data form each group were analysed statistically using the pair t-test. The results showed that there was significant change in the all indicators to intervention group, namely total leukocyte p = 0,01 (p<0,05), neutrophil p = 0,01 (p<0,05), lymphocyte p = 0,01 (p<0,05), and NLR p = 0,01 (p<0,05). The conclusion proved that exercise at the night can cause significant changes of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio on young adult.

Abstract

Quail has a high egg production. On the other hand, quail has a weakness, which is prone to stress. This stress is caused by erratic weather conditions. This study examines and evaluates the role and function of cassava leaf paste on aspects of egg performance and egg quality of quail eggs in the laying period that are reared under natural conditions or normal conditions in tropical areas, such as in Indonesia. Observation of egg performance was detected by calculating egg length, egg width, and egg shape index. Observation of egg quality aspects was detected by calculating the quality of the shell, egg white, and egg yolk. The results showed that the shape index of quail eggs at various levels of cassava leaf paste administration showed results that were not significantly different. The egg shape index obtained at P2 and P3 tends to be more oval/semi-tapered, while at P0 and P1 it tends to be round. The value of the eggshell weight, egg white weight, and egg yolk weight that received cassava leaf paste were higher than the control treatment. The high eggshell weight, egg white weight, and egg yolk weight were suspected to be differences in nutritional content, mineral elements, and flavonoids between treatments. Giving cassava leaf paste can increase the index of egg shape in the quail laying period. The application of cassava leaf paste can also increase the weight of the shell, the weight of the egg white, and the weight of the yolk in the egg-laying period of quail.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools as educational institutions produce large amounts of organic waste that can cause environmental problems if not managed properly. However, through this Community Service Program (PKM), organic waste can be processed into useful resources through maggot cultivation (Black Soldier Fly). Using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) method, this PKM aims to increase students' and Islamic boarding school managers' awareness of the potential of organic waste and provide education and technical guidance on organic waste management. The results of the activity showed that participants had increased awareness and understanding that the abundant organic waste in Islamic boarding schools can be managed effectively through maggot cultivation. In addition, participants also gained technical knowledge about maggot cultivation, both in theory and practice, which was reinforced by direct visits to maggot cultivation locations. Participants were also given practical materials to be applied in their respective places. The main contribution of this PKM is the creation of a more ecological and productive mindset in managing organic waste in Islamic boarding schools while opening up economic opportunities through the use of maggots as animal, fish, and bird feed.
