Abstract

The ventilation of buildings in hot and dry zones has to function differently from the warm and humid zones. When outside temperatures are rising higher than human body temperatures, cross ventilation through wide openings would not be useful; on the contrary, it would be a burden. To emphasize the sustainability of tropical homes, it is expected to maximize the use of the role of the roof opening in the building envelope in a passive manner. One passive cooling strategy is natural air. Circulation of natural ventilation in traditional Javanese built objects in humid tropical climates is used to achieve thermal comfort. Therefore, the problem that arises in this study is how far the Joglo-based roof element is in natural ventilation to form a comfortable space. This paper contains the elements of a Joglo-based house roof as a natural ventilation element. This study uses a computer simulation based on the program of CFD; the name is CFX-5, which is used to track the pattern and direction of air movement as well as the amount of air velocity and air direction in the Joglo-based roof ventilation object. The final value of these observations is between 0.389 to 0.489 m/s, which provides the majority cooling effect in the room, range between 0.489OC - 0.589OC. This was shown in the modified roof conditions, roof ventilation of the Joglo-Mangkurat-based roof is able to increase the speed of the air rate in the room. Keywords: energy conservation, ventilated roof, Joglo’s house.

Abstract

The tourism village trend that is developing at this time is one of the important parameters in the development of Sedati District. Sedati District has some potential to be developed into a tourist village. The potential of tourist villages in Sedati District can be grouped into three types of tourist villages, namely coastal, arts and culture, and history. However, the diversity of tourism potential that is owned is not widely known by the wider community, has not been managed properly, and has not been integrated between one tourist village and another. The purpose of this study is to explore the potential and constraints of tourist villages in Sedati District so that strategies can be drawn up for the development of a sustainable integrated tourism area. The research is qualitative and quantitative, with a research approach using the positivism paradigm. The data analysis technique in this study used descriptive qualitative analysis and SWOT analysis. Sedati District has 8 villages that have the potential to be developed as integrated tourism villages. Have something to do, something to see, and something to buy. The weakness is that tourism objects are not visually attractive, do not involve the community, lack promotion, and there is no branding. The development strategy that can be carried out is to integrate and collaborate with the three existing types of tourism; create a regional arrangement design concept and visual quality according to the characteristics; integrate land conversion according to the RTRW; educate and prepare the community and village officials as tourism actors; synergize inter-village policies at the sub-district level; establish cooperation with the Navy, and the private sector; promote and strengthen branding with internet media; forming pokdarwis to realize the development of tourist villages

Abstract

Abstract: Kampung Romantic is one of the urban villages in Malang City which currently transforms to be a village with special interest. One of the potentials in Kampung Romantis is the decorative-plant tour and business developed by its residents. This potential can be utilized to strengthen the character of the village that upholds good relations between neighbors and families. Reviewing the standard of a tourism village, Kampung Romantis is still far from the existing standard due to a lack of adequate facilities and infrastructure. However, its location is strategic as located in the middle of the city and near shopping centers, educational and heritage areas. Considering its strategic location and the high interest of the residents in developing their village, it is important to brand the area of this village visually. An effort was made through this service program through the signage design for a logo of Kampung Romantis which can strengthen the image of that area. The stages of the service program started from observation and communication with the residents, then planning and construction for the signage design. This program had successfully produced a signage design that was constructed to brand the area of Kampung Romantis by involving the residents.

Abstract

Abstract

Semiotics is the science of signs aimed at communicating. In architecture, semiotics is a sign language that aims to provide information to society through architectural elements. Architectural semiotics consists of three elements: representation, user and meaning aimed at communication. The challenge in architectural semiotics is the process of delivering information that an architect wants to convey, whether it can be understood by an observer. Communication processes are not only limited to the process of understanding but capable of interpreting signs on architectural objects. To understand communicative architectural strategies, this study involves a case study of three architecture objects, which are then analyzed using semiotics. Gapura was chosen as an object of research, because it was a simple architectural object but had a load of meaning and signs. Research methods using the study of literature (journal, book and research report). The results of the research explained that the communication strategies of the three gaps were different, so architectural communications strategies were avoided by many things. (history, culture, identity dll). The architect's ability is tested to be able to communicate with the recipient through the signs he designs, so communication strategies and semiotic definitions are important to understand. Semiotics is the science of signs that aim to communicate. In architecture, semiotics is a language of signs that aims to provide information to the public through architectural elements. Architectural semiotics consists of three elements: representation, user and meaning, which aim to communicate.

Abstract

Coastal Surabaya is one of the areas in Surabaya that has various characters of defense and resilience. Its form includes two aspects, namely tangible and intangible. Tangible physical resilience is related to architecture while intangible resilience is related to cultural, social, etc. aspects (Hanan, 2014). Meanwhile, resilience is more about the mitigation, adaptation and innovative processes carried out by the community. The form of architectural space on the coast of Surabaya which stretches from North to East is very diverse including territorial defense, economy, social, culture, nature and architecture. On the north side covering the areas of Bulak, Perak and Kedung Cowek, there are territorial, cultural and social defenses. Meanwhile, in the Bulak area, the architectural space is more of a resilience space that has undergone a process of adaptation and innovation so that it has a variety of forms influenced by ethnic diversity. Ethnic Chinese, Arab and Madurese are ethnic groups that developed in this coastal area, so that the architecture that develops is also diverse. In Pamurbaya the form of defense space is in the form of a mangrove conservation area which aims to preserve the original flora and fauna of the mangrove forest. The form of spatial resilience in the form of tourist facilities by carrying the concept of ecotourism, due to the influence of the new tourism culture. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method using qualitative analysis. The form of the diversity of architectural spaces on the coast of Surabaya becomes the identity of the area, so that it has an impact on the use of Surabaya city space in the future.
