Abstract

This study is aimed at finding out the challenges faced by teachers of students with special needs in science learning for the 21st century. This study uses descriptive methods with a case study approach. Data analysis in this study included data reduction (data reduction), data presentation (data display) and drawing conclusions or verification (conclusion drawing/verification). The results of this study indicate that facing the 21st century teachers are challenged with the need to acquire several abilities, such as, 1) communicate fluently in sign language, 2) explain clearly the science concept and its relationship with other concepts, 3) build a classroom atmosphere with class discussions, 4) conduct different teaching, 5) build realistic expectations, 6) build student experience through experiments, 7) increase access to information, 8) discipline of time. In general, the teachers must be able to apply scientific skills, and must fulfill the four 21st century competencies, namely, critical thinking/problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity/innovation.Keywords: School with Special Needs, Science Learning faces the 21st century, 21st Century Teacher Challenges

Abstract

Understanding concepts is not enough just to provide information from the teacher, but students must be able to construct their knowledge and understanding of the knowledge they have and apply it to everyday life, including colloidal material. This research was conducted to analyze the chemical concepts associated with making surfactants from sugarcane bagasse. The research method is qualitative descriptive research on 6 Chemistry Education Lecturers at the Tarbiyah and Teacher Training UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. The method used is random sampling. The instrument used in the form of rubrics that contain chemical concepts related to the manufacture of surfactants from bagasse with grading scale of 1-3. The implementation consists of: (1) Preparation stage, namely the creation of context content analysis instruments relating to surfactants, and research permits; (2) Research stage, covering all activities at the research site, namely research instrument testing and data collection; (3) Stage of completion, including data processing. The results of the analysis are then calculated the Content Validity Ratio (CVR) and Content Validity Index (CVI). CVI value of 0.72 was obtained, which means that the content is highly related in the production of surfactants from sugarcane bagasse. The results of the analysis of chemical concepts related to the manufacture of surfactants from bagasse, in general have been contained in curriculum books, literature, journals, articles. This shows that the concept in making surfactants can be used in chemistry learning in high school students. The implications of this study make it easier for students to know the chemicals involved in making surfactants. Keywords Chemical concepts, surfactants, bagasse, colloids

Abstract

The ability to solve problems is one of the ability to learn and innovate in the face of 21st century chemistry learning but the problem is that the ability to study chemistry is still low. Learning is still teacher-centered and there is a lack of student involvement, so one model is needed to improve it, the flipped classroom model. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of problem solving through the flipped classroom model on the reaction rate material. The research method is descriptive quantitative in 34 students of MIPA 2 XI grade in one of the state high schools in Tangerang Regency. The instrument used was 16 essay test questions that were assessed using the problem solving scoring rubric according to Schoen and Oehmke on a scale of 1-10 then the scores were interpreted based on criteria according to Riduwan. The results of this study indicate that the ability to solve problems through the flipped classroom model has very good criteria with a percentage of 81.3. These results students are expected to compete and meet educational competence in the 21st century.

Abstract

This study aims to describe 1) the validity, reliability, and distribution of research instrument data; 2) students' perceptions of the ability to understand chemical concepts in online learning based on indicators of stimulus, response, and evaluation of learning outcomes. Descriptive quantitative research method, data collection on 19 SMAITA students was selected by purposive sampling. Perception data was obtained through a questionnaire in the form of a google form containing 3 indicators and post-test data in the form of UTS scores. The results showed that the questionnaire instrument was valid and reliable as evidenced by the corrected item-total correlation of 9 statements, each of which had a value of more than 0.3 and a reliability value of 0.722 and the data were normally distributed. Perceptions of the ability to understand chemical concepts in online learning based on stimulus indicators 39.5% agree, 11.85% strongly agree and 47.32% are neutral. Perception-based on response indicators 63.17% agree 5.3% strongly agree. And Perception based on evaluation indicators 81.6% agree 13.15% strongly agree. The majority of students actively ask questions when there are unclear questions, can better understand the material after having discussions, become more confident when answering UTS questions, feel suitable for online chemistry learning during the pandemic but online learning is not accompanied by other media such as youtube which is less attractive. The results of this study can be used as a scientific reference for the online learning process.

Abstract

The use of local culture in the community can be used as a source of learning science in schools. This is one of the characteristics of the 2013 curriculum. However, the availability of local culture-oriented or ethnoscience-oriented chemistry books is not yet available in several schools in Pekalongan. This research aims to develop an ethnoscience-oriented chemical enrichment book by raising the typical food culture of Pekalongan. This research uses the Research and Development (R & D) method and the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implement, and Evaluate) model. Data collection techniques use interviews, validation, and questionnaires. The results of data validation processing used the Guttman scale, and the response data used a Likert scale. This study produced an ethnoscience-oriented chemical enrichment book by raising the typical food culture of Pekalongan consisting of 5 special food items and 7 chemical materials and validation by 4 validators with a percentage of 100% from material experts and 93.33% from media experts. In addition, the responses of teachers and students of SMA Islam YMI and SMA PGRI 2 Kajen were obtained with an average percentage of 90.25% from teachers and 88.54% from students. Thus, this book is included in the very good category and is suitable for use as additional chemical teaching materials. Keywords: enrichment book; ethnoscience; typical Pekalongan food

Abstract

Pembelajaran diketahui sebagai aspek pendidikan yang mempunyai peran utama sebagai penentu kualitas pendidikan. Proses pembelajaran dituntut untuk selalu dapat menyesuaikan dengan perkembangan zaman. Namun, pembelajaran sains masih didominasi oleh paradigma masyarakat yang memandang ilmu sains sebagai ilmu hafalan dan guru sebagai sumber utama pengetahuan. Inovasi pembelajaran untuk membangun keterampilan proses sains dan berpikir kreatif siswa salah satunya ialah mengintegrasikan pendekatan STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) dengan Project Based Learning pada proses pembelajaran kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keterampilan proses sains dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa pada pembelajaran kimia materi titrasi asam-basa dengan integrasi STEAM project. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan melakukan pengambilan data pada 76 siswa MAN Sidoarjo yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan integrasi STEAM project dengan memberikan project poster informatif diunggah di media sosial instagram. Data penelitian didapatkan melalui kuesioner berupa google form berisikan 14 item. Penelitian menunjukkan hasil yang positif, dengan keterampilan proses sains mendapatkan skor 4,164 dengan persentase keterampilan proses sains kategori tinggi yaitu 83,3 %. Keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa mendapatkan hasil yang baik dengan skor 4,134 dengan kategori tinggi, yaitu 82,7 %. Integrasi pembelajaran STEAM project selama proses pembelajaran melalui aplikasi WhatsApp group memanfaatkan media sosial instagram mampu menunjang keterampilan proses sains dan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa, literasi sains dan digital, serta keterampilan motorik siswa. Hasil ini dapat digunakan sebagai inovasi dalam proses pembelajaran sains.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pembelajaran abad 21 dituntut untuk selalu dapat menyesuaikan dengan perkembangan zaman. Namun faktanya, proses pembelajaran cenderung masih berpusat pada guru. Hal ini menyebabkan peserta didik menjadi pasif, monoton, dan merasa bosan. Inovasi Lembar kerja peserta didik (E-LKPD) sangat dibutuhkan. Tujuan: Mengetahui pentingnya E-LKPD inovatif dalam proses pembelajaran abad 21 berdasarkan kebutuhan bahan ajar, praktikum, alasan bosan, perkembangan teknologi, dan dampak pandemi. Metode: Menggunakan Literature Review terdiri dari 4 tahap: 1) Memilih topik yang akan di-review; 2) Memilih jurnal nasional dan internasional relevan; 3) Melakukan analisis dan sintesis literatur; 4) Mengorganisasi /menyusun hasil review. Hasil: Bahwa pengembangan E-LKPD inovatif sangat penting dibutuhkan untuk memenuhi tuntutan pembelajaran abad 21 sebagai bahan ajar, praktikum, alasan bosan, perkembangan teknologi, dan dampak pandemi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat digunakan pada pengembangan E-LKPD inovatif dalam proses pembelajaran sains. Kesimpulan: Penelitian ini memiliki batasan pendekatan terhadap materi yang dipelajari E-LKPD inovatif. E-LKPD inovatif menjadi kebutuhan penting dalam proses pembelajaran pada abad 21 sebagai bahan ajar, praktikum, dan perkembangan teknologi sesuai dengan tuntutan zaman.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian mengetahui statistik deskriptif keterampilan berpikir kreatif, penggolongan kategori indikator keterampilan berpikir kreatif, hasil poster, dan nilai rata-rata poster. Metode penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif, sampel 65 siswa kelas XI IPA MAN di Jakarta, Teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen kuesioner berdasarkan indikator keterampilan berpikir kreatif, dianalisis menggunakan IBM SPSS v25. Hasil penelitian semua indikator keterampilan berpikir kreatif katagori sedang, fluency (73,8%), flexibility (70,8%), originality (56,9%), dan elaboration (72,3%). Nilai poster MIPA 1 (82,88), MIPA 2 (81,80) dan MIPA 3 (88.28). Pendekatan STEAM-PBL mampu membangun keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa materi hidrolisis garam. Implikasinya melalui PBL disertai pemanfaatan teknologi berupa media Nearpod dapat berkontribusi pada keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa.

Abstract

AbstractThe Integration of Islam and Science has been applied in several countries both domestically and abroad. The Chemistry  Education Study Program has not yet implemented the integration of Islam and science, especially in the stoichiometry concept. Therefore, Chemistry Education at the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University of Jakarta added the Program  Learning Outcome (PLO) is in the form of mastering the basic concepts of scientific, Islamic, and Indonesian integration in basic chemistry concept. This study aims to analyze the integration of Islam and science on the stoichiometry concept using the 4-STMD method. The 4-STMD method consists of the selection stage, the structuring stage, the characterization stage, and the reduction stage. The subjects used were 49 students of chemical education class of 2016/2017, one validator of integration experts, and three validators of media experts. The instrument used was in the form of mortar test questionnaire sheets and validation sheets for integration experts and media experts. The result shows that at the selection stage, the determination of the main textbook is the book written by Raymond Chang. In the structuring phase, a draft of the Islamic integrated teaching concept is obtained that ready to be tested. At the characterization, stage have a high level of comprehension test of 80.6% with the easy category. This shows that the integrated Islamic stoichiometry concept does not need to be carried out at the reduction stage. The results of the stoichiometric material feasibility test were 96.74% with very decent criteria. The integrated Islamic stoichiometry concept can be used as a reference source in the learning of integrated Islamic chemistry.AbstrakIntegrasi Islam dan Sains sudah diterapkan dibeberapa negara baik dalam negeri maupun luar negeri. Program Studi Pendidikan Kimia belum menerapkan integrasi islam dan sains terutama dalam materi stoikiometri. Oleh sebab itu, Pendidikan kimia Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta menambahkan Program Learning Outcome (PLO) berupa menguasai konsep dasar integrasi keilmuwan, keislaman, dan keindonesiaan pada materi kimia dasar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis integrasi islam dan sains pada materi stoikiometri menggunakan metode 4-STMD.  Metode  4-STMD  terdiri dari tahap seleksi, tahap strukturisasi, tahap karakterisasi, dan tahap reduksi. Subjek yang digunakan adalah 49 mahasiswa pendidikan kimia angkatan 2016/2017, satu validator ahli integrasi, dan tiga validator ahli media. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar angket tes rumpang dan lembar validasi ahli integrasi serta ahli media.  Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pada tahap seleksi dilakukan penentuan buku teks utama yaitu buku  karangan Raymond Chang. Pada Tahap stukturisasi diperoleh draft bahan ajar terintegrasi keislaman yang siap diujikan. Pada tahap karakterisasi  memiliki uji keterpahaman tingkat tinggi sebesar 80,6 % dengan kategori mudah. Hal ini menunjukkan materi stoikiometri terintegrasi keislaman tidak perlu dilakukan tahap reduksi. Hasil uji kelayakan materi stoikiometri sebesar 96,74 % dengan kriteria sangat layak. Materi stoikiometri terintegrasi keislaman yang dihasilkan dapat digunakan sebagai sumber referensi dalam pembelajaran kimia  terintegrasi keislaman. Abstract

AbstractStudents’ difficulties in chemistry subject are the main cause of their low rate to think creatively. Students with high adversity quotient are most likely to overcome the difficulties in finding a solution to answer the creative thinking problems. The objective of this research is to analyze the creative thinking ability in chemistry from the perspective of adversity quotient. The subjects of the study are 72 senior high school students from XII grade in Tangerang. The sampling applies a random sampling technique. Data collection technique is carried out by giving a test about chemical creative thinking skills in the form is essay question with 0,727 realibility scale. Adversity quotient data is obtained using a questionnaire scale with 0,652 realibility scale. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative and quantitative method. The result indicates that camper and quitter subjects are classified as creative and climber subjects are classified as very creative. The different aspects of students’ ability in solving problems can be used in mapping students' creative thinking abilities. As a recommendation, to improve creative thinking ability requires a high level of adversity quotient. Therefore, in this research students are expected to explore their creative thinking abilities in the learning process.AbstrakKesulitan siswa pada mata pelajaran kimia menjadikan rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif. Siswa yang memiliki adversity quotient tinggi maka dapat mengatasi kesulitan untuk menemukan solusi jawaban dari soal berpikir kreatif. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kraetif kimia ditinjau dari adversity quotient. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XII SMA di Kabupaten Tangerang yang  sebanyak 72 orang. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan melaksanakan tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif kimia berupa soal uraian dengan realibilitas sebesar 0,727. Data adversity quotient, diperoleh dengan menggunakan skala angket dengan realibilitas sebesar 0,652. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek camper dan quitter tergolong kreatif dan Subjek dengan climber tergolong sangat kreatif. Perbedaan aspek kemampuan siswa dalam mengatasi kesulitan dapat digunakan dalam memetakan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Sebagai rekomendasi, dengan memiliki tingkat adversity quotient yang tinggi dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatifnya.
