Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the main challenges in the health sector in Indonesia, with a fairly high number of cases each year. This study aims to analyze the distribution of TB cases based on occupation and identify community groups that are at higher risk of spreading this disease. The data used in this study were obtained from estimates of the 2022 TB epidemiology report. The results of the analysis show that informal workers, such as laborers and traders, are the group with the highest number of TB cases, at 36.0%. This is followed by formal workers (21.6%), farmers/fishermen (17.3%), housewives (14.4%), students (6.5%), and unemployed or retired groups (4.2%). The high prevalence of TB in informal workers is caused by several factors, including an unhygienic work environment, limited access to health services, and unhealthy lifestyles. Based on these findings, a more effective strategy is needed in efforts to prevent and control TB, especially for groups with high levels of vulnerability. Health education, increasing access to health services, improving work environment sanitation, and early detection programs are important steps in reducing the spread of TB. With the right intervention, it is hoped that the number of TB cases in Indonesia can be reduced significantly.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the protective potential of Bidens pilosa L. leaf ethanol extract against histological damage to the lungs of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) due to alcohol exposure. This study is an experimental research using five treatment groups, consisting of a negative control, a positive control (alcohol), and three groups administered alcohol combined with Bidens pilosa L. leaf ethanol extract (EEDK) at varying doses. The parameters observed include edema, alveolar septum destruction, and inflammatory cell infiltration in lung histology specimens. Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by DMRT. The results showed that EEDK administration significantly reduced lung damage, as indicated by a decrease in the average damage score from 43.12 ± 0.18 in the alcohol group to 33.92 ± 1.65 (250 mg/kgBW), 23.32 ± 2.18 (500 mg/kgBW), and 14.88 ± 1.06 (750 mg/kgBW). The reduction in lung damage included improvement in edema, reduction in alveolar septal destruction, and suppression of inflammatory cell infiltration. These findings suggest that ethanol extract of Bidens pilosa L. leaves has potential as a natural protective agent through its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities, thereby potentially useful for preventing or reducing alcohol-induced lung damage.

Abstract

Kopi mengandung zat nitrogen, selain itu, kandungan dari serbuk kopi mengandung 2,28% nitrogen, fosfor 0,06% dan 0,6% kalium yang bermanfaat untuk menambah unsur hara pada tanaman, dan menyuburkan tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian serbuk kopi pada media tanam terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif cabai rawit (Capsicum frutescens L.). Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan yaitu P0 (kontrol), P1 (3g), P2 (6g), P3 (9g), P4 (12g). Parameter yang diamati adalah jumlah daun, tinggi tanaman, luas daun, diameter batang, dan panjang akar selama 28 HST. Pada p1 (3g serbuk kopi) menunjukkan rata-rata pertumbuhan terbaik pada jumlah daun (4,5 helai), tinggi tanaman (6,13), luas daun (3,55 cm2), dan diameter batang (0,35 cm). Secara statistik hasil analisis ANOVA menunjukkan bahwa pemberian serbuk kopi tidak berpengaruh nyata (p>0,05) terhadap semua parameter pertumbuhan yang diamati. Penambahan serbuk kopi dalam dosis rendah (3g) mampu mendukung pertumbuhan vegetatif tanaman cabai rawit sedangkan pada dosis yang lebih tinggi cenderung menurunkan pertumbuhan.
