Abstract

This study explores the potential of community-based tourism in Bili Bante, including aspects of natural beauty, cultural diversity, and ecotourism. The observations show that around 75% of the tourist areas in Bili Bante are still preserved with minimal environmental pollution, making it a potential destination for ecotourism development. In addition, the cultural diversity of the local community, including traditional traditions, traditional music, and handicrafts, can be a strong tourist attraction. The interviews with local people revealed that 60% support the development of community-based tourism to improve the local economy, although 40% are concerned about the negative impacts on the environment if tourism management is not carried out carefully. The main obstacles identified are inadequate infrastructure and lack of destination promotion. Based on these findings, this study recommends increasing investment in infrastructure development, training for local people, and developing more effective marketing strategies. In addition, clear regulations regarding natural resource management and environmental conservation must be enforced to support the sustainability of tourism development in Bili Bante.

Abstract

The rapid development of tourism has many negative consequences, one of which is the problem of waste. Plastic pollution has become a global issue whose impact is greatly felt in the tourism sector. Tourists are increasingly aware and concerned about environmental issues, and polluted destinations often lose their appeal. The purpose of this community service is to socialize the impact of plastic pollution on tourism to support quality and sustainable tourism. This workshop was held at Bumigora University in collaboration with the Sane Mare (a non-government organization). The approach used in this study is the community development method. There are three steps used in implementing activities, namely planning, implementation, and evaluation. This study found that this activity is critical in increasing student awareness of the impact of plastic pollution as a step in supporting sustainable tourism. A joint commitment is needed from the community, tourism actors, and the government to reduce the use of plastic, strengthen the waste management system, and encourage responsible tourism behavior because plastic waste pollutes the sea, rivers, and tourist attractions.

Abstract

This study analyzes the potential of the traditional performing art Cupak Gurantang in supporting cultural tourism in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Indonesia. Cupak Gurantang is a distinctive folk theater from Lombok that conveys moral and social values through the conflict between Cupak, a cunning character, and Gerantang, an honest one. Through this narrative, the performance functions not only as entertainment but also as a medium for moral education within the community. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using interviews, observations, documentation, and literature review as data collection methods. Analysis is conducted through a SWOT method and a participatory approach to explore the cultural functions, preservation challenges, and development strategies. The findings indicate that Cupak Gurantang plays a significant role in preserving local cultural identity and strengthening moral values among society. However, several challenges persist, including limited regeneration of young performers, financial constraints, and the marginalization of traditional arts within a tourism sector that tends to prioritize natural attractions. The study recommends community empowerment, youth training, innovative performance presentations, and the use of digital promotion and integration into cultural tourism packages. With these strategies, Cupak Gurantang holds substantial potential to become a sustainable cultural tourism attraction in West Nusa Tenggara.

Abstract

The trend of traveling to rural areas emerged after the Covid-19 pandemic because tourists wanted tourism with a healthier nuance. Tourism Villages then massively come up to meet this tourism demand. Jelantik Village, located in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, is one of the villages that is seen as highly potential village to develop into a tourist village due to its attractions. This study aims to determine the readiness of Jelantik Village to become a tourist village. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. There are three important elements that are the subject of study to see the readiness of Jelantik Village to become a tourist village, namely the readiness of the A3 elements (Attractions, Accessibility, and Amenities), community elements, and government elements. The result of the study shows that Jelantik Village can be considered to be the strong embryo of tourist village. The readiness of the A3 elements has almost been fully met. The elements of society and government are basically ready in their respective contexts. However, the lack of communication seems to be an obstacle to a proper collaboration between the two elements, the society and the government. There is a fact that the community and the government are waiting for each other in starting the collaboration process makes progress stagnant in efforts to develop tourist villages in Jelantik Village.
