Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the Human Development Index (HDI) in the Asia Pacific, that is, the level of health measured by life expectancy at birth, education measured by average years of schooling, and a decent living rate reflected by gross national income per capita. This research uses a quantitative approach and uses panel data regression analysis for the period 2018-2023. Based on the statistical results that researchers have carried out, the economic growth variable has a positive and insignificant effect on the human development index (HDI), the health level variable has a significant positive effect on the human development index (HDI), the education level variable has a positive and significant effect on the human development index (HDI). The variable of living conditions has a positive and significant effect on the human development index (HDI). Simultaneously, the variables of economic growth, health level, education level, and livable rate have a positive and significant effect on the human development index (HDI).

Abstract

Background: One of the prevention of disease transmission can be done by maintaining hand hygiene, in addition to using soap, the use of hand sanitizer is an innovation to prevent disease transmission. Benzalkonium chloride is a chemical compound that can be used as a substitute for alcohol as an antiseptic.Method: This study is a true experiment with samples taken from inanimate objects in the surrounding environment using the swab method, sample identification using bacterial gram staining and effectiveness testing using the liquid dilution method to determine the MIC measured by a spectrometer and see the density of bacteria based on turbidity and solid dilution to determine MBC by looking at regrowth after 24 hours of exposureResults: The results of the study obtained MIC and MBC values in gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial samples occurred in 0.12% benzalkonium antiseptic which was marked by no bacterial growth and a decrease in turbidity after 24 hours of exposure. This is supported by statistical results stating that benzalkonium chloride has a different effect on inhibiting bacterial growth compared to 70% alcohol and from 130 bacterial test samples exposed to 70% alcohol, 14 samples (8 gram-negative bacteria and 6 gram-positive bacteria) experienced regrowth after 24 hours of exposureConclusion: This shows that 0.12% benzalkonium is more effective in inhibiting and killing gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria in the environment.

Abstract

Background: Air is the most important component in life, and according to data, viruses always mutate rapidly, causing an increase in airborne diseases (Airbone Disease). There is a need for a tool to address this issue, leading to the creation of the BC19 device, an invention developed by Budi Laksono to decontaminate airborne bacteria. The BC19 device is an Ultraviolet-C sterilization tool with the smallest wavelength. The purpose of this study is to identify the genus of bacteria present in the room and to determine the use of this device in a closed room (Entomology Laboratory Room, FKM UNDIP).Methods: The research method used was a pre-post experimental design, in which there were interventions before and after treatment with BC19 sterilization for 22 minutes and 66 minutes, with air bacteria sampling using Plate Count Agar (PCA) in three locations representing the Entomology Laboratory of the Faculty of Public Health, Diponegoro University.Result: Based on the findings of this study, it was found that there were two genera of bacteria, namely Bacillus sp and Strephylococcus sp, which are classified as Gram-positive. It was also found that there was a difference in the average number of bacterial colonies on Petri dishes between the groups before and after BC19 treatment. Conclusion: Gram staining revealed Bacillus sp and Strephylococcus sp bacteria with Gram-positive results, and the device was proven to be able to decontaminate airborne bacteria.
