Abstract

Abstract

Abstract Mangroves are a group of plants that live in coastal areas, which are a group of plants consisting of various species, but have similarities in terms of morphological and physiological adaptation to habitats that are influenced by tides (transitional ecosystems between land and waters around river mouths). Gresik is a district that has a mangrove ecosystem and not much research has been done. This study aims to determine the index of diversity value, important value index and environmental factors of mangroves in Gresik, Kebomas and Manyar Districts, Gresik Regency. Data collection at each observation station was 6 plots with a plot size of 10x10 m. The results showed that the Shannon Wiener (H') diversity value index was station 1 (0.62146), station 2 (1.64737) and station 3 (2.22906). The highest significance index for the category of poles and trees was at station 1 (85.11101), station 2 (24.39005) and station 3 (17.22808). The index of significance value for the categories of seedlings and saplings was highest at station 1 (80,80808), station 2 (52,96099) and station 3 (37,68549). Based on the results of the ANOVA test, the thickness of the mud at stations 1, 2 and 3 did not differ significantly so that it had no effect on mangrove diversity. The results of the salinity ANOVA test at stations 1, 2 and 3 differ significantly so that it can affect the diversity of mangroves. The results of the ANOVA test of soil pH at stations 1, 2 and 3 were significantly different so that it could affect the diversity of mangroves. Keywords: Mangrove, diversity index, important value index, environmental factors, Gresik Regency.

Abstract

The Kalimas River is a river that crosses industrial, commercial, office and densely populated residential areas in the city of Surabaya. Various activities in the area will produce waste that has the potential to pollute the Kalimas River. The indicator of polluted waters is the abundance of coliform bacteria and faecal coliforms. In some cases, the coliform and faecal coliform bacteria have become resistant to antibiotics which are currently of global concern. This study was conducted to determine the level of contamination of coliform bacteria and faecal coliforms in the Kalimas River and the level of resistance to several antibiotics. This study uses observational quantitative methods with sampling using purposive sampling and grab sampling techniques. River water samples were taken from 3 location points, namely the Kalimas River which crosses Jasa Tirta I Karah, Taman Prestasi and PT. Kasa Husada. Determination of the number and density of coliform and faecal coliform bacteria was carried out using the MPN method and testing of bacterial resistance to antibiotics using the disc diffusion method. Antibiotics used were amoxicillin, tetracycline, chloramphenicol and ciprofloxacin. Data were analyzed using ANOVA level 5% test and LSD and Duncan follow-up test. The results showed that the total bacterial density in all samples from each location in the Kalimas River exceeded the predetermined water body quality standard criteria. The highest average number of coliform and faecal coliform bacteria was found at location P3, namely 1.6 x 105 MPN / 100 ml. These coliform and faecal coliform bacteria have a 100% resistance level to amoxicillin antibiotics and have 100% sensitivity to tetracycline, chloramphenicol, and ciprofloxacin antibiotics. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic that shows the highest sensitivity rates. Keywords: Kalimas River, pollution, coliform, faecal coliform , antibiotic resistance

Abstract

Introduction. Black potato (Plectranthus rotundifolius) is one of the tubers in Indonesia and not well known by the public. It causes inadequate use of black potato than any other tubers. The parts that are currently used are the potato flesh. Meanwhile, the black potato peels are not used. Although the black potato peels contain polyphenol saponins, flavonoids, and antioxidant compounds. Method. Phytochemicals can be separated using extraction methods, one of the modern extraction methods used is the ultrasonic bath method. The ultrasonic bath method is a method that uses ultrasonic waves with a frequency greater than 16-20 KHz. The objective of this research is to determine the phytochemical content and antioxidant activity of lowland black potato peels with cow manure using ultrasonic bath extraction method. The research was conducted experimentally using RAL (Completely Randomized Design) with 3 factors and 3 replications, which included the difference in extraction temperature (55°C); extraction time (15 and 20 minutes); and the ratio of materials and solvents (1:5 and 1:10). Results & Analysis. The data obtained were yield, total phenolics, total tannins, flavonoids and antioxidant activity of black potato peels extracted using ultrasonic bath method with different temperature, extraction time and solvent ratio. The data obtained were analyzed using the Anova test with a significance of α = 0.05. Discussion. The analysis indicated that the treatment of 5 kg/plot manure with an extraction time of 20 minutes, at a temperature of 55°C, and a ratio of ingredients and solvents is 1:10 provided the best quality at 4.13% moisture content, 17.90% yield, 0.177 g/g phenols total, 0.063 g/g tannins, 0.096 g/g flavonoids and 45.275 ppm antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Tofu liquid waste produces toxic compounds that can pollute the environment. Pollution due to tofu liquid waste causes the aquatic environment to become dirty and smelly. Phytoremediation is considered an innovative, economical and relatively safe technology for the environment, because phytoremediation is an effort to use plants to decontaminate waste. Water hyacinth is considered a weed in waters, but has the ability to absorb organic substances, inorganic substances and heavy metals which are pollutants. Wood charcoal can be used as a pollutant absorber in water purification systems. This research aims to improve the quality of tofu liquid waste with a phytoremediation process using water hyacinth plants and wood charcoal with TDS, pH and COD test parameters. This research used 18 experimental tanks with 3 treatments and 6 replications. P1 (100% EG), P2 (75% EG + 25% AK), P3 (50% EG + 50% AK). In this research, the phytoremediation process using water hyacinth plants and wood charcoal was able to improve the quality of tofu liquid waste. Based on the results of the Two Way ANOVA test, it is known that phytoremediation treatment has a significant effect on the test parameters with a significance level of 5%. The results of the phytoremediation study showed TDS levels from 610 mg/L to 589 mg/L; pH from 5.1 to 7.17; and COD from 3000 mg/L to 115.83 mg/L.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems play an important role in the life cycle of various types of fish, shrimp and crabs. Because the mangrove environment provides protection and nutrients in the form of organic matter that is included in the food chain. Some of the fauna that are commonly found in the Indonesian mangrove ecosystem area are fauna from the gastropod, crustacean, bivalve, polychaeta, and pisces classes. One of the biota that can be used as biological parameters in determining the conditions of a body of water is macrozoobentos. As organisms living in waters, macrozoobentos are very sensitive to changes in the quality of the water in which they live so that it will affect their composition and abundance. This research method is quantitative descriptive research by taking data in a survey. It uses a 1x1m measuring plot 100m long perpendicular to the coastline. The measurement method used to determine the environmental conditions of mangroves is the transect line method and sample plots (Tran-sect Line Plot). The diversity index value at research locations I and II is in the medium category, while in location III it is in the high category. Of the three stations, the uniformity index is stable close to 1. Result The dominance index value is that there is no type that dominates a body of water, this means that all individuals at the observation station have the same opportunity and maximally make the most of the resources in those waters. The pH results of water at station II and station III did not differ significantly, while at station I it differed significantly when compared to the results at stations II and III. The salinity results at station III differ significantly from station I and II because the location of the mangrove is the location of a sea estuary that makes the salt content of brackish water mixed with fresh water.    Keywords ; Mangroves, Macrozoobentos, Diversity, Uniformity, Dominance, Abundance, Abiotic Factors
