Abstract

The City without Slums Program (KotaKu) in Samarinda Sebrang Ketupat Village has been running for one year. Weaving villages are classified as slums. The general objective of this program is to increase access to infrastructure and basic services in urban slums to support the realization of habitable, productive and sustainable urban settlements. The research method uses qualitative with in-depth interview techniques with key informants and informants and observations. The results of the study pursed on three concepts of the approach used by the KotaKu team in communicating messages to the people of the weaving village; monologic communication, dialogic communication and multitract communication. The collaboration of these three participatory communication approaches is an effective way to change people's behavior and paradigms to change their lifestyle, habits become healthier and cleaner. The suggestion for this research is that the government should carry out continuous monitoring to see the condition after the weaving village is improved.

Abstract

Indonesia’s economy consists mainly of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In this pandemic situation, the government through its various institutions has made various efforts to save Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from the impact of covid-19, including Indonesian Central Bank located in East Kalimantan Province. Its existing empowerment program named Mini University Kaltim Preneurs made an innovation to accommodate all its graduates to support each other in a local market place named Minishop. This study try to analyse the empowerment communication strategy implemented by Bank Indonesia-East Kalimantan Area in strengthening the local MSMEs in new normal era, and map out the barriers and challenges faced to improve the program. This research employs qualitative method, and using empowerment communication theory as an umbrella to analyse the data. The study found that the success of MSME rescue policy from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic needs to be supported by some specific strategies to maintain the sustainability of MSMEs as one of the players of the Indonesian economy.

Abstract

The country of Indonesia is currently faced with a big problem, namely Covid-19, which is currently increasingly troubling its citizens. This study discusses the analysis of media texts in the case of the program controversy set by the Governor of East Kalimantan Isran Noor "Kaltim Steril" in the two online media Detik.com and Kompas.com with the hope that this research will increase knowledge about the role of online media in framing the news that is published. consumed by the community related to the program. In this study, the research method used by the author is a qualitative method using Pan and Kosicki model framing analysis as a reference in this study. The four stages of Framing include: Syntax structure, Script structure, Thematic structure, Rhetorical structure. This study focuses on two online media including Detik.com and Kompas.com The results of the analysis explain that in the online media Detik.com when viewed in terms of syntactic structure, it emphasizes the role of the government so that the news produced can build positive opinions in the eyes of the public. While on Kompas.com in its overall structure it is more neutral and reports related to both from the government side and from the community side, then kompas.com also reported the positive impact of the implementation of the "Kaltim Steril" program so as to open the public's mind to remain calm and orderly carry out instructions This was conveyed by the government not to leave the house on weekends in order to reduce the number of cases of positive Covid-19 patients. Keywords : Framing, Media Online, Kaltim Steril Negara Indonesia kini sedang dihadapkan oleh permasalahan besar yaitu covid-19, yang saat ini semakin meresahkan warganya. Penelitian ini membahas tentang analisis teks media dalam kasus kontroversi program yang ditetapkan oleh Gubernur Kalimantan Timur Isran Noor Kaltim Steril di dua media online Detik.com dan Kompas.com dengan harapan dipenelitian kali ini untuk menambah pengetahuan bagaimana peran media online dalam membingkai berita yang di konsumsi oleh masyarakat terkait program tersebut. Dalam penelitian kali ini, metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh penulis adalah metode kualitatif dengan menggunakan analisis framing model Pan dan Kosicki sebagai acuan dalam penelitian kali ini. Empat tahap Framing mencakup: struktur Sintaksis, struktur Skrip, struktur Tematik, struktur Retoris. Penelitian ini berfokus kepada dua media online diantaranya adalah Detik.com dan Kompas.com Hasil analisis menjelaskan bahwa didalam media online Detik.com jika ditinjau dari segi struktur sintaksisnya lebih menekankan pada peran dari pemerintah sehingga berita yang dihasilkan dapat membangun opini positif di pandangan khalayak. Sedangkan pada Kompas.com didalam keseluruhan strukturnya lebih bersikap netral dan memberitakan terkait baik dari sisi pemerintah ataupun dari sisi masyarakat, kemudian kompas.com juga memberitakan dampak positif dari pelaksanaan program Kaltim Steril sehingga membuka pikiran khalayak untuk tetap tenang dan dengan tertib menjalankan instruksi yang disampaikan oleh pemerintah untuk tidak keluar rumah di akhir pekan guna memangakas angka penyebaran kasus pasien positif Covid-19. Abstract

The research aims to describe how Instagram @infobnn_kota_samarinda is used in socializing the P4GN Program in Samarinda City using a research focus based on four criteria in the Media Wealth Theory by Daft and Lengel, namely: 1) Immediacy; 2) Cue Diversity; 3) Language Variations; and 4) Personal Sources. This research uses a qualitative descriptive research method by analyzing data in oral and written form, as well as in the form of images or photos, which are collected through observation, interviews and documentation, so that discoveries and in-depth understanding can be obtained to answer the research problem formulation. The results of this research are that the use of Instagram @infobnn_kota_samarinda has met the four criteria in Media Richness Theory, namely that Instagram social media can provide immediate feedback, provide a variety of verbal and non-verbal signals, language variations to increase audience understanding, and convey messages that can meet information needs and is able to influence the feelings and emotions of the audience. However, there were findings on the Immediacy criteria that there was a delay in Promptly providing the latest information and minimal interaction was provided because Instagram @infobnn_kota_samarinda was less active in replying to Instagram users' comments.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the media framing of the exploitation of child labor in the entertainment industry in the form of a documentary film. The research method used is the framing analysis of the Zhongdang Pan & Kosicki model with a research focus on scenes that illustrate the exploitation that occurs to Bjorn as the main character. The research results found show that Mantaray Film as a media company that produces documentary films tries to emphasize the exploitation events that have occurred are real. This can be seen from the presentation of factual events in the form of many previous archives and sources with different relationships. Other framings formed as a factor in the exploitation are Bjorn's helplessness due to loneliness and society's perception of children as fragile individuals, as well as the feminine side that envelops the ideology of masculinity as a new idea in the entertainment industry.

Abstract

The phenomenon of second account Instagram is increasing because it provides individuals with the opportunity to build different social identities and interactions that may not be shown in the main Instagram account. The purpose of this study was to determine the motives for using second Instagram accounts as a medium of self-interaction in 2019 Communication Science students at the University. This research uses qualitative methods with a qualitative descriptive approach and is based on the theory of self-disclosure by Altman and Taylor. Data collection techniques are observation, interview, and documentation. In the interview, six resource persons were obtained using purposive sampling technique. The results showed that Communication Science students in the 2019 batch of Mulawarman University used Instagram second accounts as a medium of self-interaction with motives that developed over time in accordance with the five aspects of Altman and Taylor's (1975) self-disclosure theory.

Abstract

Setiap manusia pasti memiliki sisi gelap dalam dirinya masing-masing, sisi gelap atau shadow dari seorang manusia terkadang menjadi sesuatu yang tidak kita sadari keberadaannya tetapi sisi gelap tersebut seolah muncul sebagai pengingat dan manusia terkadang berusaha untuk menyangkal hal tersebut yang pada kenyataannya Shadow inilah yang kemudian bekerja seperti bola pejal; semakin ditekan, semakin ia muncul di alam bawah sadar manusia. Shadow dalam diri manusia bisa dijadikan acuan untuk memahami kualitas diri, dengan ”berdamai” dengan sisi gelap kita dapat memahami kualitas diri yang tidak lagi kita klaim sebagai milik kita, termasuk kualitas positif yang melekat dalam diri manusia. Melalui lagu ”Interlude : Shadow” BTS berusaha untuk mengilustrasikan sisi gelap maupun beban yang ditanggung oleh seorang idola dan kekhawatiran yang dialami akibat ketenaran mereka. Ini karena kemungkinan seseorang untuk jatuh meningkat seiring dengan ketinggian lompatannya. Dengan menggunakan kajian semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce dengan teori segitiga makna atau triangle meaning yang dikembangkannya serta teori representasi dari Stuart Hall peneliti tertarik untuk menganalisis secara lebih mendalam mengenai makna yang terdapat pada lagu tersebut dalam merepresentasikan sisi gelap dari sebuah kesuksesan maupun ketenaran dari seorang idola. Teori segitiga makna ini memiliki tiga elemen utama yang tidak dapat terpisahkan yaitu tanda (sign), objek (object), dan interpretan (interpretant). Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa melalui video klip "Interlude: Shadow" dapat diartikan sebagai perayaan identitas dan ekspresi artistik BTS yang juga berfungsi untuk menyampaikan perjuangan dan perjalanan mereka dalam melewati kesulitan. Mereka menggunakan karya seni sebagai media ekspresi diri dan perayaan diri. Hal yang sangat terlihat dari video klip ini adalah bahwa Suga ingin menggambarkan sebuah perjuangan dan perjalanan dirinya bersama BTS dalam menggapai dan mempertahankan posisi mereka serta merepresentasikan penderitaan dan konflik batin pada dirinya.

Abstract

Penelitian ini meneliti representasi bullying dalam film animasi Jepang 'A Silent Voice.' Penelitian yang dilakukan menggunakan analisis semiotika, khususnya pendekatan Roland Barthes, untuk mengkaji representasi film tentang bullying. Pendahuluan memfokuskan prevalensi penindasan di masyarakat kontemporer, menekankan dampaknya terhadap kesehatan fisik dan mental korban. Studi ini mengacu pada penelitian sebelumnya yang menunjukkan bahwa film dapat menjadi media yang efektif dalam mengatasi dan mengurangi perilaku bullying. Bagian metodologi menguraikan pendekatan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis datanya meliputi analisis semiotika dengan menggunakan kerangka Roland Barthes, dengan fokus pada aspek denotasi, konotasi, dan mitos. Hasil dan pembahasan memperlihatkan adegan-adegan dari film, menganalisis representasi bullying secara verbal, fisik, dan mental. Setiap adegan didekonstruksi melalui lensa denotatif dan konotatif, mengungkap lapisan makna dan mitos yang mendasari perilaku tersebut. Kesimpulannya mengumpulkan temuan-temuan, menekankan potensi film untuk merepresentasikan bullying melalui pendekatan representasi reflektif, intensional, dan konstruksionis, sesuai dengan teori representasi Stuart Hall. Studi ini membantu untuk memahami bagaimana film, seperti 'A Silent Voice,' dapat menggambarkan dan mengatasi masalah sosial seperti bullying.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the proliferation of memes, which have become a new trend in communication on social media, including Facebook. Meme Comic Indonesia (MCI) is one of the popular Facebook groups for sharing memes, with its members consisting of hundreds of thousands of individuals from various regions. The aim of this research is to analyze the communication behavior of meme-sharing among the members of the Meme Comic Indonesia group on Facebook. The study employs a qualitative approach with data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. The theoretical framework used in this research is the theory of symbolic interactionism, which comprises three main concepts: mind, self, and society. The results of the research indicate that, in the mind concept, group members share relatively similar motivations and thought patterns in interpreting and using memes as a means of self-expression and entertainment. In the self concept, members shape their online identities and self-images through shared memes to gain acceptance within their Facebook community. In the society concept, simultaneous interactions among Facebook members contribute to a shared understanding of evolving memes over time. The communication behavior of Meme Comic Indonesia group members includes interactions through comments, likes, and the exchange of information through memes. Social interactions among group members in interpreting memes contribute to a shared understanding that can evolve with the passage of time..

Abstract

Di era globalisasi dunia yang semakin pesat ini meningkatkan persaingan – persaingan di segala bidang. Sehingga realitas dunia global ini mempengaruhi munculnya organisasi-organisasi yang tumbuh subur hampir di setiap ruang kehidupan sosial masyarakat. Penulis menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif pada penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian merupakan penyajian dari data-data yang diperoleh penulis setelah melakukan penelitian di lapangan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa komunikasi dalam organisasi atau perusahaan sangat penting untuk mencapai tujuan bersama.
