Abstract

Bananas are broadly utilized as an alternative nourishment, whereas banana peels, as squander, are right now as it were utilized as creature nourish added additives. Banana peel contains flavonoids, saponins, glycosides, alkaloids, tannins, and catechins. Flavonoids are phenolic compounds (phenolic hydroxyl) that can act as cancer prevention agents and are by and large found in plants. This inquiry will recognize the chemical compounds of the ethyl acetic acid derivation division and the ethanol division of the banana peel extract (Musa acuminata Colla). This sort of investigation is a test research facility investigation with a Quasi-Experimental Plan investigate plan. In this consider, two sorts of fractionation were performed on the banana peel extract, specifically ethanol fractionation and ethyl acetate extraction fractionation. Besides, the formation of the fractionation was analyzed utilizing the LC-HRMS strategy. The comes about appears that the ethanol division of the banana peel extract contained different chemical compounds, including 4-methoxycinnamaldehyde, choline, and catechin. Within the ethyl acetic acid derivation division, the banana peel extract contained a few chemical compounds, including 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furaldehyde, diisobutylphthalate, and pyrogallol. These compounds appear in a huge region within the scope of HPLC-MS investigation.

Abstract

Stunting is a nutritional problem caused by a long-term lack of nutritional intake during the first 1000 days of life (HPK) which is a critical period, resulting in impaired growth in children, namely the child's height is lower or shorter (dwarf) than the standard age. Currently, the stunting rate in the Jember Regency is recorded at 37.08 percent. Ledokombo and Pakusari sub-districts are villages with high stunting rates in Jember City. Particularly in Slateng Ledokombo Village, which has the five highest incidences of stunting in Jember. The activity aims to increase the nutritional knowledge and behavior of pregnant women and mothers under five to prevent stunting. Educational activities with stunting prevention were carried out for respondents consisting of pregnant women and mothers with toddlers. This activity was carried out by delivering material using previously designed leaflets as a health promotion tool. The distributed leaflet was entitled “Prevent Stunting with Vitamin & Mineral Intake, Clean and Healthy Behavior During the First 1000 Days of Life”. Based on the activities' results, the two villages (Jatian and Slateng) were included in the good category, before and after being given education by the executors of the Jember Pharmacy Academy. The community already knows about stunting and its prevention. This cannot be separated from the role of the government through Cadres and Village Midwives in providing provision, information, and education to the community. Community Service activities carried out by the Jember Pharmacy Academy community increase public knowledge about stunting and its prevention. This can be seen in the results of the post-test questionnaire filled out by activity participants. Keywords: Stunting, Education, Empowerment.

Abstract

The role of women in supporting the family economy is what is interesting. Women's roles are generally limited to domestic work, including caring for their husbands and children, cooking, and performing other household chores. Several factors encourage women to contribute to their families' economy. First, women who are left behind by divorce or the death of their husbands (widows). They need to work hard to meet the living expenses that are usually met by their husbands, especially for those with children. Given this condition, there are many programs that support women in developing their abilities, namely through women's empowerment programs. Women's empowerment programs that aim to increase women's awareness and potential to achieve independence in supporting the family economy, namely, through the empowerment program for women as heads of families using traditional medicines. This community service will last for five (5) weeks and will take place in Menampu Village, Gumukmas District. In this activity, participants will gain knowledge covering traditional medicine production and management, as well as the marketing of traditional medicine products. Community service activities through the empowerment of women heads of families (PEKKA) through traditional medicine have been implemented well. However, until this module was compiled, several stages had not been implemented, namely, continuous monitoring and assistance with traditional medicine product marketing strategies. Therefore, this activity needs to be continued so that it produces a more perfect output, namely, the independence and welfare of the Empowered Pekka Development Group. Keywords: Female heads of households, Empowerment, Traditional medicine

Abstract

This study aims to understand the activity and effective dose of N-4t-butylbenzoyl Acetate compound as a pain reliever. The analgesic activity test conducted was divided into 5 treatment groups. The analgesic effect test was performed using male mice from the Balb-C strain. In each test, each group consisted of 5 experimental animals. The first group (negative control) was given 1% Na-CMC suspension; the second group (positive control) received 400 mg/kgBW ibuprofen; while the third, fourth, and fifth groups were successively given 200, 400, and 600 mg/kgBW of N-4t-butylbenzoyl Acetate compound, respectively. After the treatment was given to each test animal, an analgesic test was conducted with a 30-minute interval. After that, it was injected with 1% acetic acid and observed for 180 minutes; every 10 minutes, the movement was observed for all treatments. The analysis was carried out by comparing the number of movements (writing reflex). Data analysis was performed statistically using ANOVA (analysis of variance). The number of mouse activities produced by male mice of the Balb-C strain showed that the N-4t-butylbenzoyl acetate compound at a dose of 1.56 mg had the highest activity, % protection, and % analgesic effectiveness compared to the other two doses. Based on statistical analysis, there was no significant difference in all treatments of the N-4t-butylbenzoyl acetate compound when compared to ibuprofen (positive control)

Abstract

The aims of this study was to determine the effect of HPMC variation concentration to the physical properties of Semeru Agung banana (Musa paradisiaca L.) skin extract gel. Gel was formulated with various HPMC concentration namely F1 (2%), F2 (3%) and F3 (4%). Gel was evaluated organoleptic, homogeinity, pH, viscosity, spreadbility and adhesion value. The results showed that F2 meet the organoleptic requirements while F1 and F3 did not meet. All formulas are homogeneous. The results of the pH test showed that the pH value of F1 was 5.9 ± 0; F2 of 5.8± 0 ; F3 of 5.9 ± 0. The results of the viscosity test showed that the viscosity value of F1 was 150 ± 0 dPas; F2 of 250 ± 0 dPas; F3 of 300 ± 0 dPas. The results of the dispersion test showed that the dispersion value of F1 was 5.6 ± 0.06 cm; F2 of 5.3 ± 0.29 cm ; F3 is 4.0 ± 0.12 cm. The results of the adhesion test showed that the value of the F1 adhesiveness was 11.04 ± 0.43 seconds; F2 of 17.4 ± 1.47 seconds; F3 is 24.2 ± 2.44 seconds. It is known that variations in HPMC concentration affect gel texture, viscosity, spreadability and adhesion, and have no effect on gel smell, color and pH.

Abstract

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have significant potential in healthcare due to their antioxidant activity. However, conventional physical and chemical synthesis methods are costly and generate hazardous waste. Green synthesis offers a more economical and environmentally friendly alternative. In this study, katuk leaf extract was used for the first time as a reducing agent in the green synthesis of AuNPs, owing to its rich phenolic content. The aim of this research was to synthesize and characterize AuNPs using katuk leaf extract and to evaluate their antioxidant activity against free radicals. UV–Vis spectrophotometry showed an optimum wavelength at 530 nm, indicating the formation of wine-red AuNPs. SEM analysis revealed spherical particles with sizes ranging from 28 to >100 nm. XRD results, based on JCPDS No. 04-0784, confirmed a face-centered cubic (FCC) crystalline structure with Bragg reflections at 2θ values of 38.03°, 44.15°, 64.25°, and 77.25°, corresponding to (111), (200), (220), and (311) planes. DPPH analysis yielded an IC₅₀ value of 53.37, indicating strong antioxidant activity and potential applications in the health sector.
