Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dan dilaksanakan pada satu UKM di Samarinda yang terbentuk melalui kegiatan kewirausahaan di Politeknik Negeri Samarinda, yaitu UKM Omah Maha (Mahasiswa Hebat Wirausaha). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui proses produksi inovasi rabuk ikan Nila yang dihasilkan oleh UKM Omah Maha. Penelitian dilaksanakan sejak Oktober hingga November. Adapun data pada penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi pada UKM Omah Maha dan wawancara. Wawancara dilaksanakan dengan owner Rabuk Ikan Omah Maha dan pegawainya. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa terdapat sembilan tahapan proses produksi rabuk Nila. Adapun kesembilan tahapan tersebut adalah pengadaan bahan baku yaitu ikan nila segar, cabai bawang merah dan putih dan bahan-bahan lain, pengukusan ikan Nila menggunakan sereh, penirisan ikan Nila yang sudah dikukus, penghalusan bumbu dengan cara ditumbuk atau diblender, pemberian bumbu yaitu mencampur ikan nila yang sudah disuir dengan bumbu yang sudah dihaluskan, penumisan ikan Nila dan bumbu menggunakan api kecil, pemanggangan rabuk dengan tujuan untuk mengurangi kandungan air pada rabuk, pemisahan serat untuk memastikan tidak ada tekstur rabuk yang masih menggumpal dan juga tidak ada tulang ikan. Adapun pada tahap air adalah pengemasan. Pengemasan dilakukan dengan menggunakan toples plastik atau toples mika kecil berukuran dua ratus gram. Kemudian toples atau mika disegel dan diberi label kemasan yaitu, Rabuk Nila Omah Maha.

Abstract

Untuk memperoleh hasil pendidikan dan pembelajaran yang baik dalam pembelajaran berbahasa asing (bahasa Inggris) khususnya skill membaca, siswa perlu termotivasi dengan kegiatan pembelajaran. Adapun motivasi dapat distimulasi melalui pengajaran dengan metode dan bahan ajar yang tepat. Buku cerita adalah salah satu media belajar yang potensial dalam menyampaikan informasi, mengembangkan imajinasi, meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa serta memotivasi siswa untuk gemar membaca dan menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter pada diri siswa melalui penghayatan di dalam cerita. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan (research and development). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menghasilkan buku cerita berbahasa Inggris dengan metode yang tepat sehingga dapat memotivasi siswa membaca teks berbahasa Inggris dengan berdasar pada nilai karakter masyarakat wilayah pesisir sungai Mahakam. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan dilaksanakan dengan tahapan yaitu: merumuskan potensi dan masalah, mengumpulkan data, melakukan desain produk, melakukan validasi desain dan analisis hasil validasi, melakukan revisi desain dan melakukan uji coba produk dan analisis hasil uji coba produk. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa buku yang dikembangkan memiliki rata-rata nilai keseluruhan 4,16 dengan kategori baik adapun rata-rata nilai dari validator ahli materi & media adalah 3,92 dengan kategori baik sementara validator guru adalah 4,27 dengan kategori baik dan hasil penilaian dari siswa sebagai pengguna adalah 4,32 dengan kategori sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa buku yang dikembangkan layak untuk digunakan.

Abstract

Peningkatan kemampuan guru dalam melaksanakan kurikulum berbasis lingkungan dengan kearifan lokal melalui reading worksheet di Sekolah Dasar Negeri (SDN) 008 Samarinda Ilir adalah kegiatan yang dilakasanakan oleh tim penulis yang hadir sebagai solusi atas permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh SDN 008 Samarinda Ilir yang membutuhkan penguatan terhadap implementasi kurikulum berdasarkan pada pelestarian lingkungan dan berkearifan lokal. Adapun untuk menjawab permasalahan terhadap penguatan implementasi kurikulum tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan Menyusun bahan ajar yang sesuai. Salah satu bahan ajar adalah worksheet. Lebih lanjut lagi worksheet yang disusun berfokus pada kegiatan membaca untuk membantu guru meningkatkan minat baca dan melatih kemampuan membaca siswa. Sehingga tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk merancang reading worksheet berdasarkan pada pelestarian lingkungan dan berkearifan lokal dan melatih guru untuk menggunakannya. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah metode ceramah dan demonstrasi. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah prototipe reading worksheet berdasarkan pada pelestarian lingkungan dan berkearifan lokal, peningkatan kemampuan 25 guru SDN 008 Samarinda Ilir.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan masyarakat adalah keadaan yang terjadi atau hal-hal yang dilakukan dilingkungan masyarakat sebagai upaya membangun pembangunan yang bertumpu pada masyarakat itu sendiri. Karang taruna Rekat Sehati merupakan kelompok mayarakat yang berisi pemuda/I di Kelurahan Mugirejo Kotamadya Samarinda yang aktif dalam berbagai kegiatan keagamaan, dan social. Masalah utama yang terjadi di kelompok Karang Taruna Rekat sehati adalah keterbatasan pengetahuan dan kemampuan dalam pengolahan limbah kayu menjadi produk fungsional yang bernilai ekonomis.Dari kegiatan pelaksanaan diperoleh hasil adanya peningkatan pengetahuan, keterampilan dan pengalaman bagi peserta pelatihan sebanyak 100% dari hasil karya mandiri yang di buat dari awal hingga menjadi produk jadi secara mandiri oleh peserta. Adanya kegiatan pelatihan pengolahan kayu limbah menjadi inovasi kerajinan tangan menjadi sumbangsih dalam transfer ilmu dan strategi ekonomi masyarakat ke depannya.

Abstract

The implementation of Computational Thinking (CT) in language instruction has drawn interest due to its potential in improving students' analytical and problem-solving abilities. However, its uses in specific fields, such Maritime English especially in reading comprehension, is still not well established. This study is a qualitative study that aims to explore how students perceive the use of CT in Maritime English reading instruction. 31 Students from a maritime higher education institution participated in semi-structured interviews. The result indicates that students view CT as a useful technique for enhancing reading comprehension and engagement. Moreover, the perception is divided into abstraction, algorithm, decomposition, evaluation and pattern recognition. In terms of abstraction, students claim that they can ignore irrelevant information and pick relevant information. In terms of algorithm, students believe that they can apply strategies in reading to make a better comprehension such as underline keywords. In terms of decomposition, students feel confident in breaking down long and complex sentences to find the meaning. In terms of evaluation, students can evaluate the information in the text. In terms of pattern recognition, students are aware of common pattern/sentence structure and organization in the text. The study emphasizes the value of contextualized CT education and offers suggestions for integrating CT into Maritime English learning reading instruction. The finding of this study offers potential instructional strategies for maritime education.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative study with a case study approach. This research was conducted in one Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise, Omah Maha. Omah Maha is a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise organized by a group of students supported by Politeknik Negeri Samarinda. This research aimed to know consumers' perceptions of the hamper Omah Maha produced. The hamper created by Omah Maha is unique since it is a new business supported by Politeknik Negeri Samarinda, yet it is well known. Moreover, it has produced more than 50 packages in the first month. The research was conducted from September to November 2022. The data were collected through questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The subjects of the study were the consumers who met the criteria of this study. The data were analyzed and described qualitatively. The study found that the consumers had some perceptions of the hamper produced by Omah Maha, such as the price being affordable since the consumers could decide the price range. Furthermore, the strategy of promotion was interesting. Omah Maha used some digital platforms to advertise their product and offer special prices in the advertisement. The consumers also thought that the hamper had cultural value. Moreover, social factors, location and excellent service are also some factors that were considered. Abstract

Reading is a basic skill that students must master and enjoy. Through reading, students can increase and improve their knowledge. However, reading is a challenging activity.  Based on the observation, the author found that Elementary students in SDN 012 had low abilities in reading activities. This low reading ability has an impact on limited student participation in reading activities.  Therefore, the author creates a story telling frame and stages of reading activities that can increase student participation in reading activities and improve students' reading skills. There were some stages done by the author. The first was designing a story telling frame, implementing reading activities with students, the second was using a story telling frame with students and teachers and the last was evaluating the story telling frame. The design of storytelling frame used square and round shape stainless in gold color. They were decorated with artificial flowers, dolls and cloth.  The story telling frame was designed based on the theme of the story, which is “where is bear?”. There were 20 students who joined the story telling activity using the story telling frame. The pre-test and post-test on students’ reading comprehension revealed that students have better understanding on reading the text by using story telling frame.

Abstract

Understanding and interpreting text is a crucial component of reading comprehension. This process might be hampered by several problems, which affect students' capacity to understand meaning. However, there are several strategies that can be applied regarding this issue. The first is using appropriate reading techniques, especially computational thinking. And the second is using visual aid. Students' understanding can be improved by using visual aids like graphic organizers or pictures to help them visualize ideas and relationships in the text. The purpose of this study was to produce a story mapping card as a visual aid that can help students understand English texts better. The development was carried out through the method of formulating problems, collecting data, designing products, validating designs, revising designs, conducting trials, drawing conclusions. The results of the study showed that the story mapping card was valid and ready to use. The results of the assessment of the story mapping card were an average of 4.5 with a very good category, the indicator of the benefits of the story mapping card for students got a total average value of 4.5 with a very good category and the indicator of ease of use of the story mapping card in the reading stage for teachers with a total average value of 4.4 with a very good category.

Abstract

In a world where not all desires can be fulfilled, Ariel attempts to overcome those limitations in any way she can. The Little Mermaid (2023) tells the story of a young mermaid who dreams of living in the human world. Her desire for acceptance and curiosity about life on land drive her to defy the norms and rules of the underwater kingdom. Through the narrative of this story, this study aims to analyze Ariel’s fulfillment of needs based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, ranging from physiological needs to self-actualization. Additionally, the study explores the application of this theory in examining character development in literary works. This research uses qualitative content analysis to investigate Ariel’s psychological experiences and her character development. Characterization theory and plot structure are utilized to trace Ariel’s character transformation and reveal how each stage of need manifests throughout the storyline. The results indicate that Ariel successfully fulfills all five levels of needs, with the need for love and belonging emerging as the most dominant driving force behind her decisions and transformation. Her strong attachment to the human world and longing for acceptance lead her to take significant risks, which allow her to fulfill her needs progressively, from the most fundamental to the highest level of self-actualization.
