Abstract

Wound should be covered with bandage that is called wound dressing. Most people use synthetic materials such as gauze dressing. Gauze has high absorption of NaCl, which is often used to cleanse the wound. However, discomfort and pain arise since the gauze becomes sticky on the wound. Therefore, we need other alternatives instead of gauze to cover wound. One such alternative is the alginate membrane. This study used alginate membrane with mixture of mucous of the snail Achatina fulica, which contain proteins such as proline, serine asparagine, glycosaminoglycan, hydroxylysine, trionin and so forth, to activate the growth factor. Alginatepowder and carboxymethl cellulose (CMC) was dissolved in distilled water mixed with mucus of the snail Achatina fulica in four variations (4:0; 4:1, 4:2, 4:3) through a magnetic stirrer, and casted on a baking sheet covered with sterile gauze. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) test showed that the glycosaminoglycan content was found on the mucous of Achatina fulica. This was indicated by the appearance of peak at 325–350 second. The most optimum alginate and mucus composition was in ratio of 4:2. This ratio resulted in a wound dressing that was still able to absorb the exudate and optimally accelerated wound healing.

Abstract

The clavicle is a long bone that tends to be frequently fractured in the midshaft region. The plate and screw fixing method is mainly applied to address this issue. This study aims to construct a clavicle bone implant design with a consideration to achieve a high accuracy and high-quality surface between the plate and the clavicle surface. The computational tomography scanning (CT-scan) image series data were processed using a convolutional neural network (CNN) to classify the clavicle image. The CNN outcomes were gathered as three-dimensional (3D) volume data of clavicle bone. This 3D model was then proposed for the plate design. The CNN testing results of 97.4% for the image clavicle bones classification, whereas the prints of the 3D model from clavicle bone and its plate and screw design reveal compatibility between the bone surface and the plate surface. Overall, the CNN application to the series of CT images could ease the classification of clavicle bone images that would precisely construct the 3D model of clavicle bone and its suitable clavicle bone plate design. This study could contribute as a guideline for other bone plate areas that need to fit the patient’s bone geometry.

Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular disease as the first silent killer in the world is related to atherosclerosis plaque. Coronary artery bypass grafting as a gold standard for severe atherosclerosis needs alternative materials to replace the narrowed artery due to plaque. PLLA is one of the biodegradable polymers which is suitable for the vascular graft, but some of its weaknesses should be addressed. Objective: The aim of this research is to improve PLLA characteristics for a vascular graft candidate by using collagen and chitosan. Methods: This study was an experimental study that consisted of two steps, preparation of hollow fiber and evaluation of its characteristic. This research evaluated the effect of chitosan concentration against cytotoxicity and hemocompatibility using MTT assay and hemolytic test. Results: The result showed that chitosan could improve the biological characteristics of hollow fiber PLLA-collagen, non-toxic, and non-hemolytic.Conclusions: There is a good effect on the biological characteristics of PLLA-Collagen hollow fiber by adding chitosan on the surface of PLLA-Collagen hollow fiber.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic that has occurred to date has resulted in the loss of many lives. This is due to the ease with which the COVID-19 virus spreads. According to the latest research published by the WHO, the virus can spread through the medium of objects, one of the easies object to spread virus is money. The spread of the COVID-19 virus can be done through money transactions that have previously been used by people infected by the virus. This is because COVID-19 virus can survive for more than 72 hours. To prevent this, it is necessary to sterilize so that the virus in the money can be neutralized. The technology that can be used for disinfection in this tool is Ultra Violet (UV) light and Ozone Generator. Many studies have shown that UV rays and ozone gas (O3) are able to kill viruses that are on the surface of objects. The ability of UV rays and ozone gas (O3) can kill viruses in money because UV rays and ozone gas (O3) have radiation that is quite harsh, so that if exposed to human skin continuously it can cause damage to skin tissue. In this study, to overcome this problem, a device that is automatically able to carry out the disinfection process in the room is made by utilizing UV light. Infaq Sterilization Box with UV and Ozone (BIUZ) can kill viruses in money, it is also easy to operate and safe. The size of the tool made is adjusted to the object or partner of the research activity, namely the Central Java Great Mosque Manager (PP MAJT). The need for partners is that the tool is able to carry out the sterilization process of infaq money provided by the congregation, both in the form of paper and coins effectively.

Abstract

Abstract

Dental technology has advanced significantly in recent years, particularly with regard to the placement of dental implants to replace lost teeth. One such technology is the use of a dental implant guide as a tool to assist with implant installation. The primary purpose of a dental implant guide is to assist the dentist in placing implants with accuracy and precision to maximize operation success and minimize risk of problems. Dental implant guides customized to each patient’s unique tooth and jaw architecture are made possible in large part by digital dentistry. To ensure that the implant is positioned optimally in relation to the patient’s teeth and jaw anatomy, customization is important. Using the AutoDesk meshmixer for modeling and manufacturing, a 3D slicer to segment the mandible using a 3D segmentation approach and 3D printing using resin and filament are all part of the dental implant guide design process. To improve precision and customization in the placement of dental implants, this comprehensive strategy makes use of digital dentistry.
