Abstract

This article aims to describe the relevance of integrating religious values into public codes of ethics to drive social transformation within a multicultural society. Utilizing a narrative review method of previous literature, the article identifies the potential of religious moderation and local cultural values, such as gotong royong (mutual cooperation), as foundational elements to strengthen public ethics. The findings indicate that the application of religion-based public ethics in Indonesia has had a positive impact, including enhancing integrity, reducing corruption, and increasing public awareness of the importance of ethics in public life. Integration of religious values into public ethics holds significant potential to address social challenges in a diverse society like Indonesia. In conclusion, by harmonizing religious principles with cultural norms, public ethics can serve as a unifying framework that promotes inclusivity, accountability, and social harmony, thereby fostering a more just and ethical society

Abstract

The idea of smart cities has gained traction recently. It has attracted much attention from administrators, legislators, urban planners, and others in response to the complicated problems caused by unparalleled urbanization. However, public participation or citizen engagement is essential in the smart city concept to achieve the goals optimally. This research will primarily focus on several methodologically crafted problem sets to produce thorough analytical results. They ask how the notion of "smart cities" fits into the bigger picture of how citizen engagement in green cities affects Indonesia's green economy and ultimately, how well Indonesia's smart cities align with the 1945 Constitution. This study looks at smart city-based policies from the perspectives of participation, economy, and constitution, which is different from previous studies. The findings indicate that several smart city programs and regulations still rely on local government policies, which means that residents' rights are not allocated fairly. The construct is significant in developing ecologically sound entrepreneurship through initiatives to promote interest in community participation through green entrepreneurship orientation. The smart city concept is a means of achieving the success of community engagement in promoting a green economy and constitution.

Abstract

Green Open Space (GOS) plays a crucial role in creating sustainable urban settlements, offering ecological, social, and economic benefits. In Palangka Raya, GOS serves as a public space that enhances environmental quality, promotes social interactions, and provides recreational opportunities. However, the implementation of GOS policies faces various challenges, including inadequate urban planning, lack of coordination among stakeholders, and insufficient facilities. This study aims to analyze the management of GOS as a public space by examining policy implementation challenges and strategic management approaches. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the study explores policy frameworks, government regulations, and urban management strategies. The findings indicate that the lack of coordination between municipal authorities and limited public participation hinder effective GOS development. Additionally, the absence of a comprehensive strategic management approach affects the sustainability of green spaces. Urban expansion and land-use changes further threaten the availability of GOS, reducing its accessibility for the community. Moreover, the lack of financial resources and maintenance strategies leads to deteriorating infrastructure in existing GOS areas. The research suggests that local governments should strengthen evidence-based policies, enhance inter-agency coordination, and integrate strategic management frameworks to ensure the sustainability of GOS. This study contributes to the discourse on urban sustainability by providing recommendations for improving GOS governance and strategic planning in Palangka Raya. Future research should explore innovative solutions, including smart urban planning and public-private partnerships, to enhance the quality and accessibility of GOS.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining (ASGM) in Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan Province has been a long-standing activity and a vital source of livelihood for much of the local population. However, ASGM practices carried out without adequate regulation have led to various negative impacts, such as environmental degradation, water pollution, land conflicts with local residents, and public health risks. On the other hand, the government’s control policies on ASGM tend to be general and do not fully consider local conditions and needs. This study aims to analyze the extent to which existing policies can respond to the complex problems caused by ASGM at the local level, particularly in Gunung Mas Regency, as well as to explore alternative policy models that are more contextual and participatory. The research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a literature review approach, examining national and regional regulations, previous research reports, and development planning documents. The findings reveal that the implemented policies show minimal responsiveness to local community needs and are mostly top-down in nature. This results in low effectiveness in ASGM control and weak support from local actors. Therefore, it is recommended to develop a more responsive policy model based on active local community participation to create sustainable and equitable ASGM governance.
