Abstract

Dry facial skin is a common condition characterized by dull, flaky skin that is prone to wrinkles. This often reduces a person's self-confidence, making the search for solutions to treat dry skin an important concern. One natural remedy believed to help address dry skin issues is yellow cassava, which is rich in starch and nutrients. This study aims to determine whether the use of yellow cassava masks affects the moisture level of dry facial skin. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental experimental approach, involving two groups: a control group and an experimental group. Each group received treatment once a week for four weeks. The experimental group used yellow cassava masks, while the control group received no treatment. Moisture levels of the facial skin were assessed before and after the treatment. The sample consisted of 6 participants, selected through purposive sampling. The main data was obtained through direct observation and documentation, and then analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests. The results showed that the average moisture level of the control group at the end of the study was 41.7%, while the experimental group showed an increase, with an average of 44.1%. However, hypothesis testing indicated that the difference was not statistically significant. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of yellow cassava masks in the short term does not show a significant effect on the moisture level of dry facial skin. The researchers suggest that further studies should be conducted over a longer period to achieve more optimal results and to gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of yellow cassava masks in treating dry facial skin.

Abstract

Abstract : The background of this study is based on the low awareness and understanding of the importance of sunscreen use, especially among men who tend to neglect skin care even though they are in environments with high sun exposure. Hotel management is one of the departments that requires its students to have a clean, neat and attractive appearance because they work in the service sector, so they must appear professional when meeting clients. The study aims to see the influence of understanding the benefits of sunscreen on sunscreen use behavior among male students of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, Padang State University. This study applies a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. Data were obtained using a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using the Spearman Rank correlation test with the help of Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 25. The findings of the study indicate a very strong and significant relationship between the level of understanding of the benefits of sunscreen and its use behavior (ρ = 0.908; p < 0.001), so the results of the study state that the higher the understanding of men about sunscreen, the more consistent they are in using it. Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi digital telah mendorong inovasi dalam pendidikan, termasuk pemanfaatan Augmented Reality (AR) sebagai media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat kemenarikan media pembelajaran AR berbasis Android pada mata kuliah Rias Pengantin Barat. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan survei terhadap 20 mahasiswa semester IV Program Studi Pendidikan Tata Rias dan Kecantikan yang telah menempuh mata kuliah tersebut. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner dengan indikator: daya tarik visual, interaktivitas, kejelasan informasi, kemudahan penggunaan, dan relevansi materi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa media AR dinilai sangat menarik dengan persentase skor antara 86% hingga 90% di semua indikator. Visualisasi 3D yang realistis, interaktivitas tinggi, serta kemudahan penggunaan membuat media ini efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Kesimpulannya, media AR berbasis Android memiliki potensi besar sebagai alat bantu pembelajaran yang kontekstual, interaktif, dan mendukung pembelajaran mandiri dalam pendidikan keterampilan seperti tata rias.

Abstract

The need for practical, efficient, and long-lasting makeup is increasing, especially among women who are active in daily activities such as work, college, and social activities. One important element in creating a fresh, expressive, and attractive facial appearance is the condition of the eyelashes. Curled eyelashes can give the impression of larger, fresher, and more vibrant eyes. In makeup practice, there are various ways to curl eyelashes, including using eyelash curlers and mascara. Eyelash curlers are known to provide instant results with a noticeable curling effect, but they are often less durable and have the risk of damaging eyelashes if not used properly. Conversely, using mascara alone is considered more practical and safe, but often less than optimal, especially for individuals with short or straight eyelashes. This study aims to compare the results of eyelash curl and durability between the use of a conventional eyelash curler combined with mascara and the use of mascara alone in morning makeup. The research method used was a quantitative experiment with a One Shoot Case Study design. The research subjects consisted of six female students of the Makeup and Beauty Study Program, Padang State University, who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Two treatment groups were formed, each receiving a different makeup technique. Seven panelists assessed the curl and durability of the eyelash makeup throughout the day through direct observation and photographic documentation. The results showed that the combination of using an eyelash curler and mascara provided significantly better curl and durability than mascara alone. A t-test confirmed a significant difference in curl (p = 0.001) and durability (p = 0.003). Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the combination of an eyelash curler and mascara is recommended for users who desire maximum, fresh, and long-lasting morning makeup results throughout their daily activities.

Abstract

Society 5.0 and the Fourth Industrial Revolution have driven the integration of digital technology in education, including in the field of makeup and beauty. However, skill-based learning such as Western Bridal Makeup (WBM) faces challenges due to resource limitations, such as access to quality makeup tools, accessories, and bridal gowns, hindering comprehensive mastery of makeup techniques and industry professional standards. Traditional teaching methods are considered inadequate in facilitating creativity and the hands-on learning preferences required for WBM practice. This study involved 40 students as subjects and developed an Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning media for WBM using the Research & Development method and the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) model. The AR media simulated makeup tools, bridal gowns, accessories, tutorial videos, and flipbook modules in an interactive 3D format. The AR media provided clear representations to help students learn Western bridal makeup techniques more effectively. Data were collected through validated tests and questionnaires. The results showed a media validation score of 94.8%, with a significant impact on improving student performance (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05). Post-test scores increased significantly from 68.60 to 87.30, reflecting an improvement of approximately 20%. Students also reported better conceptual understanding and increased learning motivation. This AR media not only addresses resource limitations but also enhances student engagement, fosters creativity, and prepares them with industry-standard skills, making it an innovative solution in vocational makeup education.

Abstract

In helping to support the appearance and confidence of the skin needs to be treated especially for dry skin. Having a dry facial skin causes discomfort because the cosmetics used will be difficult to stick to the skin. In addition, weather factors, the use of unsuitable cosmetics, exposed to excessive sun exposure, and unhealthy lifestyles can cause the skin to become dry. The purpose of this study was to determine the process of making gel masks from carrot extracts and seen from laboratory tests, organoleptic tests and hedonic tests. This study uses quantitative methods with an experimental approach. Data collection techniques through observation, documentation and observation sheets that can be seen from the results of laboratory tests, organoleptic tests (texture, color, aroma, adhesion) and hedonic tests (panelists). The results of the study obtained from the results of laboratory tests by looking at the pH level of each formulation are in a safe range of 4-5. In the organoleptic test, panelists declared F1 as a preparation of less thick, orange, and lack of scented in carrot. In the F2 formulation, panelists declare as a texture preparation that is thick, orange, and scented typical of carrots. In the F3 formulation, the panelists declare that the preparation is less thick, less orange, and a typical carrot scented. In the F4 formulation, panelists declare as a very thick, non -orange preparation. And very scented typical of carrots. In the adhesion of the panelist states from all formulations that F4 is very attached. In the hedonic test, the preparation that many panelists like, namely the F4 preparation, is very thick, not orange and very scented typical of carrots. Thus the gel mask of carrot extract can be used as material for making gel masks seen from laboratory tests, organoleptic tests, and hedonic tests.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi keputusan pembelian kosmetik dekoratif pada mahasiswa Departemen Tata Rias dan Kecantikan Universitas Negeri Padang. Dengan meningkatnya minat konsumen terhadap kosmetik dekoratif, keputusan pembelian menjadi semakin selektif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode survei, melibatkan 43 responden dari populasi 76 mahasiswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner dengan skala Likert 1-5. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, multikolinearitas, heteroskedastisitas, serta uji t dan uji F. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa promosi tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian (signifikansi 0,449). Harga memiliki pengaruh signifikan (signifikansi 0,000), sedangkan teman sebaya memiliki pengaruh signifikan (signifikansi 0,014). Secara simultan, promosi, harga, dan teman sebaya berpengaruh signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian kosmetik dekoratif, dengan teman sebaya sebagai faktor yang paling dominan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan guru-guru MGMP Seni Budaya di Kabupaten Tanah Datar dalam merias wajah panggung, karakter, dan pembuatan video dokumentasi seni. MGMP Seni Budaya merupakan komunitas guru mata pelajaran Seni Budaya. Pelatihan ini dilakukan untuk mengatasi kendala yang dihadapi siswa dalam merias wajah untuk pertunjukan seni, yang mengharuskan siswa mencari bantuan di salon kecantikan dengan biaya tambahan. Metode pelaksanaannya meliputi ceramah dan tanya jawab, refleksi dan praktik, serta bimbingan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam keterampilan guru dalam merias dan dokumentasi video, yang ditunjukkan oleh keterlibatan, antusiasme, dan kreativitas peserta. Evaluasi efektivitas pelatihan dilakukan melalui umpan balik dan analisis hasil dokumentasi video. Dengan adanya pelatihan ini, guru diharapkan dapat membantu mengurangi biaya siswa dalam kegiatan seni dan mendukung pengembangan keterampilan dalam menghadapi P5 Kurikulum Merdeka. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan guru dalam merias dan membuat dokumentasi video, yang pada akhirnya dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan secara keseluruhan.
