Abstract

Populist language is increasingly employed in political communication, not only thru speeches and digital media but also in visual campaign media displayed in public spaces. This phenomenon indicates that public spaces have become arenas for the construction of political identity, the legitimation of power, and the representation of local culture. However, studies on populist language within the political linguistic landscape, particularly in visual campaign media in Central Java, remain limited. This study aims to describe the forms of populist language, identify political language strategies, and explain cultural representations in the political linguistic landscape of the 2024 regional election campaign in Central Java. This study employs a descriptive-interpretative qualitative approach based on the perspectives of linguistic landscape, populism theory, and critical discourse analysis. The data consist of 39 campaign texts purposively selected from 150 visual campaign media documented across eleven regencies and municipalities in Central Java. Data were collected thru observation and documentation and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that populist language is realized thru the use of local languages, short slogans, repetition, religious diction, popular expressions, development narratives, and populist programs closely related to the needs of local communities. The identified political language strategies include political branding, local and religious legitimation, electoral mobilization, moral imaging, and the promotion of concrete programs, while cultural representations reflect a combination of Javanese cultural values, religiosity, social solidarity, and modern orientation. This study concludes that campaign language in Central Java localizes political legitimacy thru cultural proximity, religious identity, and modern communication styles. The findings contribute to the development of language education and political literacy by enhancing understanding of the relationship between language, culture, ideology, and political communication in public spaces.

Abstract

MSMEs play a vital role in Indonesia's economy, contributing approximately 61% to the national GDP. The processing industry sector leads with an average turnover of 28.25% or 450 billion Rupiah. Ngingas Village, a hub for metal industry MSMEs since 1930, is known as the "metal village," with MSMEs growing from fewer than 100 to around 320 by 2023. Despite this growth, sales turnover remains stagnant due to internal challenges like HR management and marketing, as well as external factors such as government policies and the global economy. Interviews in March 2024 revealed that market-oriented MSMEs in Ngingas Village, despite collaborations, still face sales fluctuations. This study examines the influence of market orientation and distribution channels on marketing performance using a quantitative approach. Data collected from 70 respondents via purposive sampling was analyzed with multiple linear regression in SPSS 25. Results indicate that market orientation positively and significantly impacts marketing performance, while distribution channels have no significant effect.

Abstract

Sustainable social entrepreneurship integrates entrepreneurial strategies with a commitment to social and environmental objectives. This study identifies two major issues based on interviews with partners at the Thai Global Business Administration Technological College (TGBC), Thailand. Although TGBC students demonstrate strong entrepreneurial potential and innovative ideas, their understanding of sustainable social entrepreneurship and experience in implementing sustainable social business practices remain limited. To address these gaps, an integrated training program was designed to enhance conceptual understanding and practical business skills through four stages: preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Participants reported high satisfaction with the program’s facilities—including training venues, equipment quality, internet access, cleanliness, and learning materials—and with the training process, particularly the clarity of materials, expertise of facilitators, adequacy of training duration, and responsiveness of organizers (92%). Post-training evaluations indicated improved comprehension of social entrepreneurship, competence in applying the Sustainability Business Model Canvas (SBMC), and increased confidence and motivation (92%). Furthermore, most participants perceived the program as beneficial for both career and academic development (96.4%). These findings highlight the importance of structured, experiential learning in fostering sustainable social entrepreneurship among students. Keywords: Social entrepreneurship, sustainable entrepreneurship, Sustainability Business Model Canvas (SBMC), training

Abstract

This research examines how gender inequality is represented in institutional feminist discourse through analyzing the transitivity pattern of UN Women's 2026 Instagram posts. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach and applies Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics, specifically ideational metafunction, to analyze the process types and participant roles of the selected data. The datasets consist of ten UN Women's 2026 Instagram posts, published between February and March 2026. The findings reveal that only four process types were captured in a total of seventeen clauses. Relational process is the most frequently used, with eight appearances, followed by material processes with six appearances, mental processes with two appearances, and verbal processes with one appearance. In terms of participants' roles, women and girls are most frequently positioned as carriers in relational processes, with four appearances. Furthermore, women and girls were also positioned as affected participants, such as a goal and receiver, with one appearance each. In terms of movement areas, UN Women’s post presents all four movement areas: leadership, economic empowerment, freedom from violence, and peace, security, and humanitarian actions, although economic empowerment is not presented explicitly. These findings suggest that in institutional discourse, gender inequality tends to be portrayed as a structural and socially constructed condition, positioning women both as carriers of social conditions and as actors who actively challenging inequality. For future research, it is recommended to use multimodal discourse analysis to apprehend the non-language aspect of the posts and present more insight into how gender inequality is presented in institutional feminist discourse.
