Abstract

Dietary plants are believed to contain antioxidants that have positive effects on human health. Free radicals, other reactive oxygen and nitrogen spesies can be eliminated by antioxidants. The presence of flavonoids and phenol in paprika (Capsicum annuum var. grossum) fruit contributes to its antioxidant properties. The phytochemistry and antioxidant activity of paprika leaves—especially those cultivated in Indonesia—have not been extensively studied. The aim of this study to investigate psychochemical parameters, phytochemical screening and antioxidant activity of paprika leaves from Indonesia. Several physicochemical parameters and phytochemical screening test were done base on Indonesian Herbs Pharmacopoeia. Antioxidant activity test using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) method. Dry powder of paprika leaves have some physicochemical parameters which part of its characteristic. Dry powder and extract of paprika leaves contains flavonoid, saponin, phenol and steroid/triterpenoid. The findings of the antioxidant test indicated that the standard vitamin C exhibited an IC50 value of 6.22 µg/ml. In contrast, the extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction demonstrated IC50 values of 6.41, 9.12, 8.96, and 10.58 µg/ml, respectively. There was potential for paprika leaves to be developed as a natural source of antioxidants.

Abstract

The exploration of collaborative research in healthcare is a dynamic and multifaceted endeavor, as evidenced by analysis of influential articles, citation patterns, and keyword frequencies. Davenport and Prusak's seminal work on knowledge management serves as a foundational foundation, emphasizing the critical role of effective knowledge utilization and sharing in collaborative healthcare research. This research explores linkages with other influential articles, including Scott's examination of social network analysis, Star and Griesemer's insights on institutional ecology, and Tranfield et al.'s methodology on evidence-based knowledge management. Further analysis extends to works on thematic analysis, inter-organizational collaboration, cancer genomics, and qualitative research methods, all of which contribute to a rich tapestry of collaborative healthcare research. Keyword analysis revealed thematic priorities, with a major focus on "Care" and "Experience", emphasizing the human dimension of healthcare. Challenges, technology and organizational aspects emerged as prominent themes, reflecting a holistic approach to collaborative exploration. The interplay between keywords such as "Dynamic", "Mechanisms", and "Performance" underscores the evolving nature of collaborative efforts and the need for strategic mechanisms to address challenges and improve performance. The analysis also highlights contemporary concerns, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, barriers to collaboration, and the intersection of mental health and social media.

Abstract

Cassia occidentalis Linn. or kewer is a plant that is commonly found in tropical and subtropical climates. Cassia occidentalis seed extract is safe for consumption after roasting the seeds and extracting them using a water solvent. Drink from the roasted seeds of this plant is known as Negro coffee or Senna coffee. In Indonesia, including the Garut area, there are communities who usually consume boiled Cassia occidentalis seeds that have been roasted as a refreshing drink. It calls kewer tea. Cassia occidentalis seeds contain phenolic compounds. Phenol compounds are one of the secondary metabolites that have antioxidant activity. Behalf of that this research aims to determine the antioxidant activity of steeping, infusion and decoction of roasted Cassia occidentalis seed powder and to analysis the active compound content of three extracts. Antioxidant activity was tested using DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhidrazil) method, and active compounds were identified using LC-MS/MS analyses. The results of the antioxidant activity test showed that the roasted kewer seed steeping had the highest antioxidant activity compared to the infusion and decoction, with an IC50 value of 57.864 µg/ml. The results of compound content analysis using LC-MS/MS indicated 13 compounds in the steeping, 15 compounds in the infusion, and 16 compounds in the decoction. It is suspected that compounds that play a role in antioxidant activity in steeping include flavonoids, lignans, and stilbenes, which are lost or reduced in levels in infusions and decoctions.

Abstract

Abstract: Forest Betel (Piper aduncum L.) belongs to the genus Piper. Many researches on antioxidants of various genera of Piper have been carried out such as Piper crocatum and Piper betle, but research on antioxidants in forest betel is still very limited. Natural antioxidants can be used to reduce free radicals in an effort to prevent degenerative diseases. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of flowers, leaves and stalks of forest betel and the group of compounds responsible for the antioxidant activity. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method (2,2 diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) with UV-Vis spectrophotometry and thin layer chromatography (TLC). The antioxidant activity test results using UV-Vis spectrophotometry showed that forest betel leaf extract had 47.252 µg/ml as an IC50 value, forest betel flower extract had 49,756 µg /ml as an IC50 value and forest betel stalk extract had 48.674 µg/ml as an IC50 value.. While vitamin C as a comparison has 5.223 µg/ml as an IC50 value. From the TLC results showed that the compounds suspected of providing antioxidant activity in the flower and stalk extracts were flavonoid compounds because they had the same Rf values, which 0.35; 0.53; 0.66 on the plates that had been sprayed with DPPH and sitroborate. Extracts of leaves, flowers and stalks of forest betel have antioxidant activity with IC50 of 47.252; 49.756 and 48.674 µg/ml respectively and suspected the presence of flavonoid compounds that are responsible for the antioxidant activities of flower and stalk extract.
