Abstract

Brangsong, Kab. Kendal, Jawa Tengah.

Abstract

This study investigates how poetic realism and political imaginaries are constructed in 38, a poetry collection by Kusfitria Marstyasih. The objective is to examine how the poems articulate socio-political critique within the post-Reformasi Indonesian context. Using a qualitative textual analysis informed by the sociology of literature and the aesthetics of resistance, the study analysed selected poems to identify patterns of representation, tone, and thematic focus. The findings suggest that Marstyasih employs subtle realism through concise, ironic, and contemplative expression to critique power relations, human rights violations, and emotionally detached bureaucratic practices. Rather than presenting overt grand narratives, the poems operate as counter-discourses that quietly challenge dominant state ideology while foregrounding experiences of marginalization, denial, and symbolic death .The study concludes that 38 positions poetry as both aesthetic expression and civic engagement. The collection demonstrates how contemporary Indonesian poetry can function as a reflective space for cultural resistance and socio-political critique.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of horror stories from conventional forms to participatory multimedia narrative experiences on YouTube, using a case study of the video titled "Shayangan Pulang" by Nadia Omara. The main focus is to identify the application of rhetorical elements, Storytelling techniques, and YouTube's role in supporting digital narratives. Using a qualitative case study approach, data was obtained through content analysis of verbal, visual, and audio elements, as well as audience reception in the comments section. The analysis was conducted using Aristotle's rhetorical framework (ethos, pathos, and logos) as well as the theories of digital Storytelling and media convergence. The research findings indicate that pathos is the most dominant element, manifested through gripping sound effects, vocal modulation, dramatic pauses, and a non-linear structure to evoke fear. Ethos & Logos credibility is built through a consistent narrator persona (ethos), while the logic of the storyline is maintained despite the supernatural theme (logos). The Role of YouTube: Interactivity features and participatory culture significantly strengthen the audience's emotional and social engagement. This research demonstrates that integrating classical rhetoric with digital techniques can create an immersive horror experience and enhance audience engagement in digital media.

Abstract

Papua faces significant environmental problems and agrarian conflicts due to the exploitation of natural resources. This condition underscores the urgent need for environmental education rooted in local wisdom to foster sustainable practices. This research aims to identify ecological elements within Kumpulan Cerita Rakyat Papua, a folklore collection published by Balai Bahasa Papua in 2017, and examine their relevance to environmental education policies in schools. Employing a qualitative descriptive method, this paper utilizes Greg Garrard’s ecocriticism framework to analyse these elements. Purposive stratified sampling was used to select representative samples from 19 stories, followed by thematic analysis to uncover key themes. Data validity was ensured through the principles of trustworthiness including credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability. The findings reveal prominent ecological elements such as wilderness, animals, dwelling, the earth, pollution, apocalypse, and pastoral motifs, illustrating a harmonious humans-nature relationship in Papuan culture. Papuan folklore serves as a vital medium for transmitting ecological knowledge, which can be seamlessly integrated into school curricula, particularly in Indonesian Language subjects. By integrating ecological values into education, this research advocates for building environmental awareness from an early age, empowering younger generations to contribute to nature preservation and effectively addressing agrarian conflicts in Papua, reducing resource-driven tensions through informed, community-based learning.

Abstract

This study explores the traditional performing arts of Ebleg and Kuda Lumping in Central Java, Indonesia. Using a qualitative methodology with an emic perspective, the research examines the social context, participants, and activities associated with these performances. Ebleg, rooted in Kebumen's cultural heritage, showcases unique costumes and narratives that reflect local identity and history. The findings reveal how these performances serve as mediums for cultural expression and community solidarity, while also highlighting the challenges of preserving such traditions amid an aging performer population and declining interest from younger generations. The study underscores the importance of community involvement in cultural preservation and advocates broader engagement to ensure the continuity and evolution of Ebleg as a vital aspect of local heritage. Ultimately, this research contributes to understanding the dynamic interplay between traditional arts and contemporary cultural identity in Indonesia.
