Abstract

This research aims to analyze the framing of da’wah messages on YouTube, focusing on leadership themes. Using a constructionist approach through Robert N. Entman's framing model, this study examines four elements: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and make treatment recommendations. The research analyzes four YouTube videos uploaded between September 2022 and September 2023, each having more than 1,000 views and containing leadership-themed da’wah content. The findings reveal that the da’wah messages are categorized into three types: faith-based messages (found in videos 1 and 3), sharia-based messages (found in videos 2 and 4), and moral-based messages (found in video 4). The framing analysis identifies consistent patterns in highlighting leadership aspects through four perspectives: defining leadership issues in religious contexts, identifying systemic causes of leadership problems, emphasizing moral judgments based on Islamic values, and recommending solutions that combine religious teachings with leadership practices. This study concludes that the da’wah messages frame leadership issues by presenting specific viewpoints to the public, emphasizing the importance of integrating Islamic principles in leadership while addressing current social and governmental concerns.

Abstract

This research analyzes the implementation of Article 5 of the Journalistic Code of Ethics in reporting crime on the online media Lampost.co. The Journalistic Code of Ethics is a moral guideline that guides journalists in carrying out journalistic duties with high professionalism and ethics. Lampost.co, as part of the Lampung Post General Daily, co-media has a vital role in maintaining the quality of reporting, especially in the context of crime news. This research uses a field research method with a qualitative descriptive approach. Primary data was collected through purposive sampling from five informants: Chief Editor, one Editor, and three Journalists. Secondary data sources come from photo documentation during news production and relevant theoretical references. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation, while data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of the research showed that there were violations in the application of Article 5 of the Journalistic Code of Ethics in two news stories from the 84 crime stories in the November 2023 edition, where there was a mention of the identity of a minor victim of immoral violence and the face of a minor perpetrator of immoral crime was shown. However, both news have been corrected on the Lampost.co website. Lampost.co explained that the violation was caused by a technical error in the editing process due to pressure to broadcast the news immediately. Meanwhile, other crime news in the same edition complies well with Article 5 of the Journalistic Code of Ethics.

Abstract

Media coverage plays a crucial role in shaping public perception of political dynamics in Indonesia, particularly through visual representations. The increasing concerns about political dynasties and their impact on democratic processes have become a significant issue in Indonesian politics.  This research applies Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory to analyze the cover of Tempo magazine using qualitative research. The study aims to reveal the essential messages and ideological constructions conveyed to the audience by examining the signs, symbols, and meanings embedded in the cover design. The analysis focuses on the cover of Tempo magazine's 02 June 2023 edition, "Political Expansion of the Jokowi Dynasty." Through a detailed semiotic study, this research reveals how Tempo magazine utilises visual and textual elements to communicate its editorial stance, attract readers, and reflect contemporary socio-political issues. The results of the study are based on the analysis of Peirce's semiotic theory, namely that Tempo magazine, through the illustrations on its cover, succeeded in conveying a message about the political expansion of the Jokowi dynasty through the use of solid symbols and effective visual signs, including analysis through icons, indexes, and symbols. These results significantly contribute to a deeper understanding of media semiotics and how magazine covers can influence public perception.

Abstract

Selection of SPAN-PTKIN, UM-PTKIN, and UM independent. The three entry paths have their own character, according to their functions and objectives. With these differences, this study identifies the relationship between student entry pathways, majors/types of previous high-level schools with GPA scores, and the length of the study period of students. Data mining in this study is to uses a priori algorithm. The Apriori algorithm is one of the classic data mining algorithms. The a priori algorithm is used to determine the most dominant factor in predicting student graduation rates. A priori algorithms are used so that computers can learn association rules, looking for patterns of relationships between one or more items in a dataset. The data in this study were taken from student data in SIAKAD, namely the student data of Raden Intan Lampung State Islamic University (UIN), Islamic Community Development Department, Class of 2015, the data used included the type of school of origin, entry route, GPA, and length of time. study period. Abstract

The development of digital technology has given rise to the phenomenon of citizen journalism, which is transforming the traditional media ecosystem. This transformation creates new spaces for public participation in news production and distribution, but it also raises challenges related to the credibility and accuracy of information. Research on how citizen journalism shapes news narratives on local social media—particularly the interaction between platform algorithms, citizen participation, and information verification processes in the context of regional Indonesian media—remains limited. This study aims to explore citizen journalism trends on the Lampung Geh News platform and analyze their influence on the formation of news narratives on social media, as well as to identify the information verification strategies developed within the citizen journalism ecosystem. The research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method conducted from January to April 2024. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with two platform administrators and two citizen contributors of Lampung Geh News selected purposively, non-participant observation of social media content, and analysis of platform policy documents. The findings reveal three main points, increased public participation in digital public spaces through information contributions and comment section discussions, with an average engagement of 75–120 comments per post, social media algorithms significantly determine the visibility and popularity of certain news narratives, with highly engaged content receiving three times more exposure, and collaboration among citizens, media managers, and stakeholders in a four-stage information verification system. Although citizen journalism enriches local news perspectives and builds communication bridges with government stakeholders, issues of accuracy and credibility remain key concerns, necessitating the strengthening of digital literacy and the development of adaptive ethical standards.

Abstract

Verbal symbols use both spoken and written language. In contrast, non-verbal symbols can include pictures, clothing, smiling faces, and movements and strategies that advertisers use to manipulate and influence their customers. This research uses qualitative methods, while this type uses Teun Van Dijk's media representation approach and discourse analysis. The discourse embedded in television advertising has a significant influence on its audience. The results show that advertisers promote their products and highlight people's cultural and religious values. This emphasis on Islamic rules is reflected in Muslim women's clothing styles, lifestyles, and how TV advertising has shaped ideology in social practices in Indonesia.
