Abstract

Abstract. Retail is one of the promising business sectors to run in Indonesia. Nowadays, small size retail stores such as minimarkets is counted as largely growing business in Indonesia. Along with its rapid growth, retail businesses face many problems. One of the most complicated problems in this business sector is overstocking and under stocking of inventory that may happen at the same period. PT. Idola Jaya Semesta, a growing non-food convenience store, faces this inventory problem. This research aims to get the best inventory policy for PT. Idola Jaya Semesta. The sample data to be analyzed is limited to the best-selling category which is stationary, and focused on the top ten most overstocked items by percentage in a random retail store, which is the retail store in Bintaro. The data of the inventory report in the central store and distribution center is employed as a basis data of the research. The researchers used probabilistic method and economic order quantity model to analyze the inventory practices and to propose a solution. The result of this research is an inventory policy (maximum inventory level and reorder point) that avoid those problems and maximize profit. The research founds that using EOQ results in the lowest total inventory cost for the company, it is around IDR 4 million rupiahs cheaper than the current policy in a course of a year. However the current existing “TSM” policy of the company results in the lowest under stocking cost by IDR 68,308, not a very significant amount. In the long term the EOQ policy results in better to be used as it rises, the profitability ratio in the next 5 years using Monte Carlo Simulation for the items that have a yearly demand of over 100, but with the TSM policy it is better to use with items that have a yearly demand below 100. Ultimately, the best solution is to use the EOQ policy because it has the lowest total inventory cost and the profitability ratio of items with a yearly demand below 100 is not very significant for the company’s total profit. By using the sensitivity analysis, it is also more reliable to use the EOQ policy, when compared to the current existing TSM policy, as it is less sensitive to a change in demand compared to the current policy. The implementation plan for the company is very simple, the company employed a software engineer to create the software used to determine how much to order and the point of reorder, the company’s software engineer needs to simply change the formula of the current policy to the EOQ policy within the software program codes. Since the software is a form of digital media, it can be applied fast and at a low cost. Keywords: Inventory Management; Economic Order Quantity; Re-order Point; Non-Food; Convenience Store;Retail

Abstract

Security in a business, especially in the mining industry, is a paramount necessity for the company's sustainability. The assurance of security is also a determining factor for a company's productivity in carrying out its activities. Therefore, the management of an effective and efficient physical security system is required to support the company's operations in producing and gaining profits. The ultimate goal of security management is the creation of a conducive situation that can minimize threats, disturbances, obstacles, or challenges that disrupt a company's operations. In the day-to-day operations of an organization that manages a physical security system, it must undoubtedly have an effective and efficient organizational structure. Its existence should serve as a guideline for security personnel themselves as well as for users or stakeholders in a company, thus ensuring effectiveness and efficiency as per expectations. In this research, the researcher will conduct a study on the effective management of the security division's organizational structure during the transition from permanent employees to outsourcing or contract employees in the mining industry sector. In the ongoing transition process, the researcher has identified gaps in various stages, including planning, communication, implementation, and development. Therefore, there is a need for improvisation on what has been done. By conducting qualitative research, security managers in mining companies will receive guidance and guidelines based on the research when undergoing the transition from permanent security personnel to outsourcing, while still adhering to the security rules and standards of mining companies in Indonesia and globally. The recommendations from this research emphasize the need for a Needs Analysis and Risk Assessment by security managers when undergoing the transition process. This involves a comprehensive identification of the core tasks and functions of a security officer in a mining company, thus gaining a clear understanding of the quantity, qualifications, and types of skills required for contract or outsourcing employees in the mining company.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the key operational variables that impact productivity in PT BORNEO and identify optimal targets to improve productivity. A mixed methodology of qualitative and quantitative approaches, supported by process observation, was used to collect data. The study primarily uses existing quantitative data, but interviews may be conducted to capture constraints in the implementation plan process. GPS data also collected via an API to obtain information about truck movements, which can be divided into various activities to identify cycle time and analyze system performance. The study found that reducing loading time and minimizing random stoppages can significantly improve productivity, with average loading time being the most important factor. Stoppage before rest time and stoppage in loaded condition and at major prayer time had little impact on overall productivity. Future research could investigate the impact of other variables such as equipment maintenance and driver training on productivity.

Abstract

By using Indonesian case studies, this research plan to fill the research gap in the theories of transaction cost economics, multi-attribute utility theory, agency theory and information-processing theory, through variable based modeling. For business and industry stakeholder point of view, this research is expected to be useful for Indonesian e-commerce platform ecosystem stakeholders especially regulators, to give insights towards dynamics within e-commerce platform ecosystem. This paper originality lies on proposing e-commerce conceptual model by using multidisciplinary approach through combining four main constructs, which consists of relative e-commerce platform performance, digital promotion capability, customer experience review rating and supply chain capabilities. The model also accommodates seasonal pricing and logistic outsourcing as intervening variables to examine model sensitivity. With sample size of 1288 people who have purchased items in at least two e-commerce platform, collected data is processed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method by LISREL software.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of infectious and non-communicable diseases has spurred pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to intensify research and development efforts for new drugs, particularly vaccines. The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted many companies and research institutions to find solutions. Preclinical testing in animals is mandatory in vaccine development, which highlights the importance of animals to ensure the safety and efficacy of drugs before clinical trials (conducted in humans). The surge in demand for animal testing presents a unique opportunity for PT XYZ to leverage the Laboratory Animal Division (LAD) as a Contract Research Organization (CRO). By offering services such as providing laboratory animals, providing materials of animal origin, and facilitating testing, PT XYZ transformed DHL from a cost center to a profit center. This research aims to identify customer needs and evaluate the business potential of CRO in DHL PT XYZ. This study combines qualitative data analysis with the Kepner Tregoe method and quantitative with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. This study recommends that PT XYZ prioritize the implementation of strategies aimed at improving service quality, expanding the variety of animal breeds and services, and obtaining relevant certifications. The results of this analysis and business strategy cost leadership are essential to increase customer satisfaction, grow market share, and ultimately achieve the company's revenue growth target.

Abstract

In Indonesia's highly competitive FMCG market, product quality is critical in maintaining customer loyalty and protecting brand reputation. Company XYZ, a key player in this sector, recently encountered significant challenges due to packaging defects, specifically leaks in its Non-Dairy Creamer (NDC) product line. These defects have led to customer dissatisfaction and threaten the company's relationship with a major client. This study aims to identify the root causes of these packaging failures and propose effective solutions to enhance packaging quality. A qualitative research approach involved semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders and analyzing internal communication records. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) tools, such as Causal Factor Charting and the 5 Whys method, were utilized to uncover the underlying issues. The findings revealed two primary causes: the Quality team's lack of expertise in conducting thorough risk assessments for packaging designs and insufficient knowledge in evaluating the structural integrity of modified packaging. To address these issues, the study recommends implementing standardized risk assessment protocols, conducting comprehensive packaging performance tests, and enhancing training programs for quality management personnel. By adopting these measures, Company XYZ can reduce packaging defects, improve customer satisfaction, and strengthen its competitive position in the dynamic FMCG industry.
