Abstract

ABSTRACTSexual Dimorphism, Reproduction and Prey of Long Tailed Lizard Takydromus sexlineatusDaudin, 1802 (Lacertilia :Lacertidae). The morphology and reproductive biology of Takydromussexlineatus were studied in Bogor. Males are larger than females. There is sexual dimorphism onhead size and tail length (larger and longer tail on males) of body size among sexually matureadults, apparently as a consequence of sexual selection. The diet of T. sexlineatus consists ofvariety of insects and their larvae, arachnids, decapods and snails. Most of the diet are insect(more than 70 % for adults and juveniles). There are higher prey competitions at adult skinksbetween males and females, adult females and juveniles, but not between adult males andjuveniles. The length of adult males and females are 44.6 - 58.1 mm and 49.6 - 62.3 mm respectively, lay eggs throughout the year with 2 -3 clutches, per clutch consists of 1 - 3 eggs.Key words: Lizard, Takydromus, Ecology, Sexual Dimorphism, Prey, Reproduction, Bogor, Indonesia

Abstract

As one of the remaining tropical rain forest and the largest conservation area in Java, Gunung Halimun National Park (GHNP) has at least 53 reptiles and amphibians where two rare endemic tree frogs Nyctixalus margaritifer and Philautus pallidipes were collected. The skink species Sphenomorphus puncticentralis has also been succesfully collected after the first and the only collection in 1979 at Baturaden,Central Java.

Abstract

Exploitation freshwater turtle for local consumption, medicine, and pet in several parts in Asia caused the declining populations in the wild. The purpose of this study is to evaluate of turtle harvest that listed in Appendix CITES in South Sumatra and Central Borneo. We reported the trading network of the three most exploited turtle species in South Sumatera and Central Borneo. We visited the largest middleman in the two provinces and collect the data that comprises the harvest number, prices, trade flow, catching area, and the level of harvest for local consumption. During our survey in Sampit (Central Borneo) (one week in April 2019), we recorded 667 kg of turtles were sent to a middleman and harvested from Jemaras and Sembuluh district. This amount comprises 549 individuals of Cuora amboinensis, 173 Siebenrockiella crassicollis, and one individual of Cyclemys dentata. Contrary to that, in Palembang, we did not find any delivery of turtle from the hunters. However, 387 individuals of C. amboinensis and 132 individuals of S. crassicollis were found in a middleman pool. We also recorded that local people in Central Borneo consumption of turtle meat. The national quota of C. amboinensis in Central Borneo and South Sumatra are 1700 and 2000 individuals for 2019. The national quota of S. crassicollis in South Sumatra is 500 individuals, while Central Borneo does not have any quota for this species. The realization of these wild-caught turtles indicates an over harvesting beyond the annual harvest quota. Moreover, the two middlemen are indicated to carry illegal carapace trading, although the scientific authority recommended to ban the carapace trade.

Abstract

Background: STEMI is the most severe form of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) that occurs due to complete obstruction of the coronary artery, causing extensive myocardial ischemia and necrosis. Although Primary PCI reperfusion intervention is the main therapy and is effective in reducing mortality, many patients still experience post-operative anxiety. This anxiety can worsen cardiovascular conditions through activation of the sympathetic nervous system and HPA axis, and hinder the patient's recovery process. Therefore, non-pharmacological interventions that are appropriate to the patient's spiritual and cultural values are needed to address such anxiety. Qur'anic murottal therapy, surah Ar-Rahman, to reduce anxiety levels through the effects of relaxation and psychological calmness.Purpose: To analyze the application of murottal therapy surah Ar-Rahman to the level of anxiety of STEMI patients. Methods: Uses a case study by applying intervention for 2x in 3 days. Results: EBN intervention using statistical tests obtained an effect before and after the interventions with a p-value of 0.028, systolic BP with a p-value of 0.005, and diastolic BP with a p-value of 0.005. While HR with a p-value of 0.875.Conclusion: The application of murottal therapy surah Ar-Rahman proved effective in reducing anxiety levels and stabilizing systolic and diastolic blood pressure in patients with STEMI in the ICCU room. These results support the importance of spiritual-based non-pharmacological interventions in holistic nursing care, particularly to assist the recovery process of patients after PPCI interventions. Nurses are expected to develop competence in providing spiritual healing as part of a comprehensive nursing approach.

Abstract

Pain management for patients by nurses refers to medical therapy and pharmacological approaches. This study aimed to determine the effect of therapeutic touch on post-operative pain. This study used a quasi-experimental design conducted on 60 respondents, comprised 30 person for intervention group (therapeutic touch) and 30 person for control group (deep-breaths technique). The study conducted in the surgical ward for adult patients at Pasar Rebo Hospital Jakarta. Data collected from April until October 2012. The result of Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test showed a significant difference between the pain scale before and after treatment either the intervention group or the control group (p value = 0.000). The Mann-Whitney test’s result also showed a significant difference in pain reduction between the scale of the intervention group with the control group (p value = 0.000).
