Abstract

Many local coffee shop brands are also present to enliven the coffee shop market in Bali, especially in Denpasar City. This actually presents a new phenomenon that affects the interior design of a coffee shop, that no longer emphasizes the area of the coffee shop space, but presents a simpler interior design character with a unique theme. This variation also has its own consumer segmentation. Therefore, this study aims to assess the correlation of the sensuality value of the coffee shop brand with the level of consumer loyalty to the coffee shop brand. This is important to research further, because it can see in detail about the role of interior design on a coffee shop brand and also on people's consumption patterns. This study uses a mixed-method sequential method using questionnaire data collection methods for generations Y and Z, observation and direct interviews with consumers and coffee shop owners. The results of this study indicate that the coffee shop interior elements that have impact to the level of consumer loyalty are physical environmental factors such as furniture, lighting, color combinations, interior decoration, sound, temperature, good coffee quality, which will affect the pleasant aroma of coffee shop, as well as non-physical environmental factors such as social interactions that can increase comfort, feels like home, at a coffee shop.

Abstract

The Special Education Foundation (YPK) has been committed since 2001 to filling the gap in health and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities in Bali. Through the development of its services, YPK not only focuses on physical and psychological health aspects but also expands its scope into education as part of efforts to create a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities. In facing challenges in providing facilities and equipment to support rehabilitation activities—particularly the need for specially designed furniture—YPK recognizes the importance of collaboration with academia, especially with Warmadewa University. This community service activity focuses on the significance of such collaboration in developing ergonomic, accessible, and aesthetic furniture design solutions. Special furniture such as walkers, support chairs, and support tables play a vital role in fostering independence and improving the quality of life of YPK service recipients. Through this collaboration, it is expected that innovations in furniture design will emerge that not only meet functional needs but also take into account ergonomic and aesthetic aspects, in line with the principles of inclusive education. This community service activity explores how academic insights in design and ergonomics can make significant contributions to creating sustainable and effective solutions, reinforcing the importance of cooperation between the non-profit and academic sectors in addressing social challenges. The outcomes of this collaboration are expected not only to strengthen the supporting infrastructure at YPK but also to serve as a model for similar initiatives focusing on disability community services.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the rehabilitation services for individuals with cerebral palsy at Yayasan Peduli Kemanusiaan (YPK) Bali by designing and producing adaptive furniture that is ergonomic, affordable, and tailored to user needs. Identified problems included non-ergonomic tools, limited availability of adaptive devices, high cost, lack of inclusive design expertise, and limited collaboration with academic institutions. Using User-Centered Design (UCD) and Participatory Action Research (PAR) methods, the team developed a rehabilitation chair and an ergonomic walker. Evaluation showed enhanced comfort and postural support for users. Training modules for staff increased the organization’s capacity. The program exemplified how inclusive design and technological innovation can enhance therapy effectiveness, affordability, and sustainability.

Abstract

Balinese hospitality architecture faces the challenge of integrating traditional Balinese design principles with modern energy-efficient technology while maintaining cultural authenticity. The study explores combining Balinese architectural heritage and contemporary innovations to achieve sustainability in the hospitality industry. Through a study of Tri Hita Karana-based spatial planning, passive cooling techniques, and the adoption of renewable energy, this study investigates how traditional elements such as bales, hogs, and open yards can be adapted to meet contemporary energy efficiency standards. Case studies of eco-friendly resorts, green hotels, and heritage-inspired developments illustrate how sustainable materials, climate-responsive clever design, and local energy solutions contribute to reducing the carbon footprint while maintaining the island's architectural identity. The findings highlight that blending vernacular wisdom with modern engineering solutions fosters resilience to climate change and improves the visitor experience. The study proposes a contextual model for sustainable hospitality architecture, offering practical guidelines for architects, developers, and policymakers that aim to align cultural preservation and environmental sustainability in the urbanization landscape.
