Abstract

Virtual tours are chosen as alternative tourism during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to explore travelers’ experiences in their roles as participants in a virtual tour of Batuan Village, Bali. Qualitative approaches were used; interviews and focus group discussions (FGD) were conducted before the first alpha test (conceptualization of the virtual tour). The 2nd FGD was held to understand the feedback for improvement on the 2nd alpha test. Then, the 3rd FGD was used to explore inputs that can be applied by practitioners in organizing better virtual tours. Through descriptive analysis, six points related to experience are concluded: (1) an enjoyable experience from travelers, (2) an appreciation of the destination’s uniqueness, (3) a requirement of devices and platforms for a smooth virtual tour, (4) innovation to create a narrative story plot, (5) a bold character’s personification, and (6) a social media account to publish the tour information. The biggest challenges of this study were the web-app development and the virtual tour platform.

Abstract

Drive-in Events are a new phenomenon in the event industry in 2020, emerging as innovations to overcome social distancing policies. The researcher was interested in exploring the experience of Drive-In Senja 2021 visitors using the event experience conceptual model, which helps add to the study of event experience and provides insight for the event industry in designing event experiences, especially Drive-In event experiences. This study uses the conceptual basis of the event experience conceptual model. Qualitative approaches and phenomenological methodologies, especially IPA (interpretative phenomenology analysis), were used to examine five informants representing three categories: couple, double date, and girls' night out. The results of data analysis found 37 emergent themes that formed 11 superordinate themes, which constructed the Drive-In Senja event experience conceptual model. The Drive-In Senja event experience conceptual model differs from the event experience conceptual model, namely a personal and social realms in a more detailed event environment. As a result, there are more superordinates in the personal realm than in the event environment, which shows the limitations of Drive-In Senja organizers in designing event environments during pandemic conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in social electronic word-of-mouth and travel motivation for Generation Z who are living in the Jabodetabek area. This research was conducted because it had never been done by previous researchers. The data collection used is by using a survey through Google Forms and literature studies from various journals. This study uses a quantitative approach by analyzing data through the IBM SPSS system. The results showed that there was a positive and significant relationship that the efficacy of generation Z travel decisions in choosing tourist destinations in the Jabodetabek area was influenced by the existence of the social electronic word of mouth and travel motivation. However, the differences in social electronic word-of-mouth and travel motivation among Generation Z who live in the Jabodetabek area are not homogeneous. Therefore, the calculation of the efficacy of their travel decisions also cannot be equated. The goals and motivations for the journey of Generation Z who live in Jakarta are not necessarily the same as Generation Z who live in other regions.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research article aims to examine Indonesian hotel guests’ appraisal toward their intention to stay at CHSE-certified Hotels in Indonesia. The Indonesian Government introduced the Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification to ensure the. Three years after its first implementation in 2020, there has been very limited understanding of the influence of CHSE certification on guests’ behavior, and protection and motivations perceptions. Drawing from the Protection Motivation Theory, this research aims to examine the influence of CHSE certification on guests’ protection- motivation attitudes, and their intention to stay in CHSE-certified hotels. Analyzing a sample of 370 online survey responses generated through Populix, hypothesis testing found that guests’ perceived severity, self-efficacy, and response cost significantly and positively influenced their intention to stay. Results imply that the implementation of CHSE certification has increased guests’ awareness of the severity of Covid-19’s effects on public health. Additionally, the certification encourages guest protection (self-efficacy) and abides by the suggested and required protocols (response cost). Practical and research implications and future research suggestions of the study are discussed.ABSTRAKArtikel riset ini bertujuan untuk meneliti penilaian psikologis tamu hotel Indonesia terhadap perilaku intensi dia untuk tinggal di Hotel  bersertifikasi CHSE di Indonesia.
